I did install new firmware but I am unable to activate DCI 4k from creators app. It says bluetooth malfunction error on camera. Any remedy?

No custom luts 😢 Nice update but can't say true cinema camera, no cine ei and custom luts is hurting 😢

If I do not like the result of update and I run Camera Settings Reset will I get the firmware I had before I ran Firmware Update?

This upgrade has screwed up my camera and I can't even go back now. It doesn't let me connect with my monitor plus app that used to use very frequently. And this monitor and control app can't be used with SLOG3 as you can't install custom LUTs. You can't get gamma disply on output to the app. This sucks!!! Is there a way to revert back to the older version?

Except that they ruined external raw recording with 3.0. The iso values are no longer correct, and you can’t go down to your base iso without using auto iso.

Real Cinema Camera??? No Cine EI, no custom luts, no variable shutter angle... List goes on, and I love my A7siii; but this firmware update is a joke. Plus, the camera is running hotter than normal as well, and doesn't work as well with 3rd party batteries. This update was long over due, missing so much, and made a lot of things worse! Buuuut Sony can now say, " Look everyone, we gave the A7siii a HUUUUUUUUGE update 😃 and we look forward to you buying our next camera now!" Seriously disappointing.

Interesting about the batteries - was it working better with third party batteries before the update? Could it be running hotter because of the 3rd party batteries - I think Sony would only test their firmware updates with Sony batteries.

A “real cinema camera”? 🤣 Come on man, it’s a hybrid mirrorless camera, not even Sony included it in its cinema line obviously. It’s great that you liked the firmware but shooting 4K dci doesn’t make it a “cinema camera” by any means. A cinema camera has an active cooling system for starters, needs pro XLR inputs, needs advanced connectivity, needs to be modular, and so much more… The a7S iii may be a capable camera for video but it’s certainly not a “cinema camera”. Hope that helps.

No DCI 4k doesn't give you more horizontal résolution as supposed or as you tell. It is fake, shoot same (4k uhd and 4k dci) clips and look them you could see that dci 4k crop vertical and resize to 4096 with pixel bining. there isn't at all more horizontal résolution. no ?

@@LexFilm Ok so it is a new DCI format spécial A7s3 or Fx3 without more horizontal field. Hourra! a new DCI is borne. I think we could rename it to something like 4K DCI croped. 😄

@@rudolphlagarrigue5072 the S3 slightly oversamples by around 10%. So there is room for DCI without cropping. DCI isn't cropped at all.

@@LexFilm To me it is not résolution problem or 10% more of what (waiting informations about the procès they use) it is more an horizontal field of view problem look what is DCI 4K norme. With this (little effort...), Sony shake the norme for too little avantage in my opinion. The A7s3 was not sold with 4k DCI no problem it stills the king, i will wait next generation.

None of these things are particularly appealing to the average videographer. Focus breathing is useless unless you have Sony lenses. 4K DCI ok but you have to be in 24p ( I shoot in 30p) and also at the highest bit rate only with V60 cards or better. ( all my cards are V60) Not worth having to re-do all my settings and custom buttons for a few marginal things.

I'm a strong believer in "what it ships with is what it sits with". if they wanted it to have the features. they would've sold it with them PERIOD! these "updates" nowadays are all watered down BS. and break whatever workflow you may have already created with native or even 3rd party apps. unless you have a 2nd of anything and willing to use it as a test dummy theres no point. i have 3 sonys. only one will ever get updates just for me to see how dog 💩whatever they release is. no custom luts is crazy. DCI 4k dont matter. im not updating anything with this BS. a7siii will ☠with how it is. With AI and how all these companies and project managers already crunch the dev teams, i already knew this "update" wasnt going to be much, some minor things that can be added via code. the fact their able to do the 4K means they could've essentially just allowed a menu for YOU to input the frame width and height you would like to shoot, why not that? 🤔. That would be much more creative. the sequential memory cards? where playback orders both together? WOW so much work put into that feature. probably just a merge sort to be fr fr on first run so it only appends on new pics/videos after the first run. Sounds like im complaining but saying HUGE or MASSIVE like other creators have is CRAZY. not updating any s3s. waiting for an s4 though or fx30 2. whatever else they release. Sony is essentially mercedes at this point! You know the best way to make your mercedes car faster or update it? you buy the new model. thats what sony is right now. the dev teams dont gaf about a released product. yeah they do basic upkeep but the rate at tech advancements is exponential. if you making the cash just buy the new one and keep making money. this issue is only an issue for pure creatives and not people making money, and if you arent making enough your prices need to account for future updates 1 - 2 years in advance and budget accordingly.

I agree that if you're happy with the camera as it is then you don't need to upgrade like if you don't need/want breathing comp or the ability to use the app, etc.
