I switched to LG. Sony image processing is 1% better on the Sony OLED but it's not worth it missing out on the LG magic remote (mouse pointer remote). Operating my Sony does my head in with how slow it is to navigate.

Ahmad Haruman skip Sony then. They are not adding hdmi 2.1 in their 2020 TVs. Samsung only has 1 hdmi 2.1 port LG, Vizio and TCL do have multiple 2.1 ports

Rtings.com just released their CX review and guess what? According to them it's basically the same TV as the C9. It actually has a more agressive ABL and lower HDR peak brightness.

Trevor Greenwood Sony website. It’s for the new 85 inch 950h but it’s the same mother Board and chip set so it’s works for the 950g also.

Stands are a bit confusing alright. My set is being replaced after only 5 months. Got vertical banding which was fairly bad during dark scenes. Sony are sending me out a new set.

OLED is the only way to go next from our fantastic 900e. A true next step compared to LEDs o it there these days👍

J to the M actually nope... maybe Sony oleds but not LG oleds.. I had a XE93 55“ Sony and Upgraded to a LG C8 77“ and I regred it, the only benefits are the true blacks, on the other side the cons list is so long that I can’t even write it down here i don’t have time for that. Good bye

@@denissssss8579 the c8 is not the best OLED to compare. 2019 and up OLEDs ate greatly improved and Sony is what I'm referring to not LGs. I have a 900e and love it. A Sony OLED is a 900e w/no bloom and full color at any angle👌

@@manveerghuman5276 my 900e is plenty colorful. The thing it's missing it the full viewing angle and less bloom. Sony A8g and newer will give u this and that's why it's a true step up from my 900e which I love. Micro led will have the same but more minimized issues as LED now. OLED will be the best choice still for advances

lol. Same panel, same pixels. Image processing might be different but it does not change clarity of pixels.

@@tbone5654 I find LG colors to be more on the bright side. Sony is a bit more natural looking and if you tone LG colors down they seem washed out

@@tbone5654 Processing can drive the pixels differently (varying intensity) from manufacturer to manufacturer on the same specification panel. Like the ABL algorithm may behave or kick in at different light outputs at different times (or from different models from same manufacturer) for example from different manufacturers processing

No. The A8H is better than the A9 in basically every way except sound quality. Put that $600 in the bank or towards your sound system

A8 is best. Tweaked X1 Ultimate, better shadow detail, plus better BFI. No reason to get an A9G anymore.

Minor cycle is a 15 minute version that does not decrease luminance, it’s done every time the tv is turned off after 4 hours of usage. The major cycle is usually done at around 2000 hours of screen on time or manually and is 1 hour long and does decrease luminance. These cycles re balance each pixel and clear away imperfections like image retention or abnormal spots on the screen.

We generally run in OLED TVs for 100-200 hours to let the organic material stabilise before calibrating and testing various aspects of picture quality, usually in side-by-side comparisons with competing TVs, which could be why our TV reviews take a longer time.

Yeah, its pretty cool. Will it really make it look as good as Plasma though? Isn't the inherently short pixel response time of OLED TVs a big part of the problem? Hopefully you can still get a bright enough image with Clearness set higher than 1.

Ben Squire Clearness 1 & 2 doesn’t affect brightness much in SDR, but more so in HDR. By how much, I’m not sure.

@@MetalexoAlberto I don't know what it has to do with whether the signal is SDR or HDR, X-Motion Clarity inserts black zones into the image on each/set frames so unless the framerate of the content changed between the SDR and HDR signals I don't think there is a difference in how many black zones are being inserted into the image stream. Apart from that HDR should naturally kick the backlight to max so I guess you mean the difference in nits as a number rather than a percentage? Because if the backlight is maxed at, say, 500 nits [just nonsense numbers for comparison] and you reduce the brightness by 50% because of the BFI then it would be 250 nits. If you were in SDR and it was 100 nits, then it would reduce to 50 nits. The difference is definitely 5x larger in HDR but percentage-wise its the same. So it would maybe seem like less of a difference to your eyes at first in SDR when you turn it off/on but it would actually be a lot dimmer than where HDR would dim too.

@@Kuranghi I haven't seen the dimming myself, so I can't really tell you what sort of percentages or nits are involved. I suspect dimming might be greater in HDR because the brightness is already at max, so the TV can't compensate. In SDR, the Clearness setting might be programmed to boost the brightness by the same amount the image is dimmed by BFI. In HDR, as the brightness is already at max, it can't compensate for the dimming. Just speculating here!

@@bitnisse7186 well I got the the sony a8h today and it actually says it's recommended to leave pixel shift on to reduce the possibility of image retention. Seems to only do it every so often though so it shouldn't be a problem.

I really like to buy a Sony TV with full HDMI 2.1 support. This question is a mystery why the entire 2020 line up of TV's haven't addressed this to be in line with the PlayStation 5.

@@Mr_Battlefield Maybe the answer is HDMI 2.1's bandwidth won't really be a needed with PS5 until a few years down the line so they aren't rushing to change over all their consumer TV models to HDMI 2.1 because first and foremost they are targetted to be used for watching TV and movies via streaming and disc, game stuff is a distant thought unfortunately... thankfully its Sony so even the things they don't care about much are better than the competition! That or they will announce more 4K+8K LCDs and 4K OLEDs (maybe even 8K OLED? Doubtful but would be cool to see) at the end of the year, all with HDMI 2.1.

@@patp9819 Has it been cancelled though? Sony just released a promo for the Sony A9 3 days ago. It does not indicate the A9S (thought to be the 48 inch) or the A9H, just stated as A9.

its not really a feature its a certification from imax that your hardware meets certain visual and audio specs to make the most of their high end imax content

Brightness on Sony TV's means backlight luminance level and Gamma means the difference of light and dark balance but I think you got that already. Contrast means digital white level and Black Level is digital... well you get it. Did you turn on X-Motion Clarity?

@@hdtvtest thanks. Tried that but demo is off. Still defaults to Vivid and picture occasionally blacks out momentarily. Brand new screen.

The is no True Cinema option with X1 Ultimate processors. Just use Custom - Smoothness Min, Clearness Low/Off or 1/2, Film Mode Auto. Same thing.

Nope Hdmi 2.0 with eARC. LG OLED is the way to go if you’re a gamer, Hdmi 2.1 on all 4 ports plus high end gaming monitor latency 5ms at 1440p 120hz

@@reign3099 yes that is important because most HDR content is mastered to 1000 nits. The more nits the TV has, the better the HDR rendering looks.
