Bullshit comparison. Dolby vision on netflix is compression. And the settings are manipulated. s95b with hdr looks not that dim. its brighter hdr tv then sony a95k. sure the a95k has a bit better processing. but the hdr comparison is a lie!

Sony all the way. Too often the extra brightness on the Samsung washes out tiny details that the Sony gets spot on. I'm not looking to be dazzled, I'm looking for realism in a TV. I'll be spending the extra money. Here in the U.S. the Sony 55 in. can be had for $2500 vs. $1700 for the Samsung. I'll pay it. What the hell, I'm 79 years old and I'll probably croak before the Sony does. :)

It took me 15 mins to get my A95K looking bang on. You need to use 'Custom' setting, Go into advanced colour setting and reduce high red down by 12 points. The image is far too red in standard custom mode. You will notice skin tones looks superb then.

Well the Sony A95K currently goes for 2.800€ in Germany. The Samsung S95B on the other hand is currently about 1.500€ with corporate discount and 1.300€ after Cashback. Picture quality wise yes, the Sony A95K all-day-long. But with double the price I would prefer the Samsung.

I have the S95B and I think what is happening here is the contrast enhancement setting was left at high as it was by default. When you set this to low things come much more down to earth as far and natural looks and less blown out highlights.

Well lucky that next firmware update for Samsung will have the contrast enhancer completely taken away from the settings. Or whatever else they mess up on it lol. With every new update something even worse happens to the TV.

800$ off on the Sony A95K here now, so i pulled the trigger. I considered taking a chance on the Samsung for the lower input lag, but I just didn't want to set myself up with the hassle of returning multiple tv's because of bent screens and firmware issues. Sony has always been my preferred tv brand when it comes to the best looking picture so im happy with the purchase.

From 7:50 there is significant difference in brightness between the A95K and S95B. I did not see this when the A95K was set on brightness preferred. Can i assume that the A95K here is in gradation preferred? It is also not clear what setting the S95B is in. Is contrast enhancer on High and is the Game Mode set on Advanced? Other channels like Tech with KG also didn't see this dramatic difference in brightness.

I'm going to buy the A95K. The TV is sold with a 5 year warranty (even burn-in)where I live. It costs £3700 (65 inch). It's a lot of money but I think it's worth it.

Good side by side comparison, I was wondering which one is more consistently brighter for real HDR content? I couldn't tell if some of the content you showed was in SDR or HDR was it a mix of both or all in HDR? Thank you. It seemed like for the HDR demo content the Samsung was mostly brighter but in the real HDR content the Sony was brighter is this what you observed? Also that Stranger Things scene of the kid riding his bike down a dark street with a light shining on his bike, have you checked if a LG OLED does DV differently to the Sony and so which ones out of the 3 is doing it correctly, or the same, as different brands do DV in different ways I heard?

@@drunkhusband6257 nah it's cheaper because there is no back panel reinforcement like the Sony, no heatsink and wasn't marketed as a premium product. Which is why it's flimsy and not as bright but also $US1000 cheaper before sales. So trash is relative, there are alot of happy and unhappy customers out there.....

I’m really struggling between these two, the price although a factor, isn’t what will sway me either way. My issue is I game and watch movies, stream etc. the rest of my family solely stream/movies etc. so I’m unsure what would be best for me. don't get Samsung s95b ive had 4 already and if you game more then 4 hours in one sesh it has high probability of green screen of death. happened on all the units I had after 3 weeks each unit. faulty mother boards with eArc issues. Plus 3 out of 4 were bent out the box. id wait till later this year. I returned mine cause it was such a headache. looks incredible though when it works

Sony for me hands down, when you consider the price it's not as black & white! With Sony u get 5 years warranty as standard, you get HDR & Dolby Vision and you don't need a sound bar, the build quality of Sony is twice as good and when you want to sell it, Sony will be far more valuable!....so how much is all that worth? I'd say close to £2k.....not so much of a Sony tax when you consider everything, it in fact confirms, you get what you pay for.....Although Samsung is slightly better for gaming, Sony doesn't lag that far behind, I very much doubt, you'd be disappointed with Sony's gaming!

The thing is the build quality on the Samsung's is brutal. I've watched practical reviews and of them come out of the box with panels warped etc, the panel is so thin, all they needed to do is make the back cover 2mm wider to support the panel, the picture is fantastic though..also firmware updates have caused issues. 1800 Euro now for the 65 inch which is expensive for me. The sony is too dear, the best alternative is the LG C2 hands down..

Excellent review. The Dolby Vision comparison is a deal breaker if you're a picture purist. With regards to Google TV, you can do a deep dive in the settings to streamline the interface.

Watching this video on my X90K FALD. Makes me understand that my eyes are nw 100% used to Sony processing and colors. I s much hesitated between Sony and Samsung. I know now there is a Sony signature and a Samsung signature. By the way I hav a hard time finding Dolby Vision content. Prime Video and of course RU-vid don't have any. Where should I turn to watch DV? Thanks. Wish I had the budget for A95 though...

Is it possible to calibrate the Samsung so it doesn't loose so much detail in brighter scenes? The picture looked overexposed. The details looked better in dark scenes on the Sony as well imho. Weird considering they have the same panel.

Yeah, something tells me that that's either the camera he's shooting with not being exposed for the brightest tv on the right, or the blown out images were due to that tv not being calibrated. I think it's the former as the image at 4:36 shows the blown out looking cat vs the 5:02 image showing corrected brightness. There's a lot of images in this side-by-side that appear like this which may come across as misleading to some. Bit of a shame, really.

You can't judge much from these comparison videos as really the camera can only capture one TV well most of the time, the other, it just can't if there is a big brightness difference between them. Only scenes that have about the same brightness can you judge better maybe......but depends on the camera if it is picking both up well enough. And the black level differences you can make out that the S95B is making the shadow detail extra dark so the A95K is more accurate OOTB. @@barryjones2366 You can find that most channels comparing TVs DO take their camera work into account. I believe most people watching also expect that what they're seeing is a careful and considered comparison. To be frank, adjusting the camera for both TVs is the most basic consideration when showing the light differences between multiple TVs. If that isn't done, something will always look wrong. Judging by the comments on this video, there are quite a few wondering why it looks badly clipped. As someone who films theatre shows with bright lights, it's not a difficult thing to adjust for. So, if someone making these videos is comparing TVs on youtube for others to judge, that really is the bare minimum people expect. Otherwise, these videos can and will mislead people. And all that does is create confusion where a simple setup during filming would remove all doubt.

@@imdurc Yeah it's the limit of the cameras dynamic range. The only thing you can do is film them separately to capture the full range of each display the best you can then put them side by side in post for a SDR video showing HDR content........it's only way to do a non-misleading comparison in SDR. Or you could do a proper HDR video about HDR and watch it on a HDR display which will be even better if you can master it properly. It varies in quality when done this way too..... Which is why you should never trust fully in these side by sides. And most channels clearly don't......only a few I know of do sometimes like Tech with KG did with a few videos of his and classy tech. I haven't seen them do it lately though......they honestly take very little care in their camera work. i was lucky enough to get the Sony A95k with a 500 Euro discount, and since i won't buy a TV that doesn't Support Dolby Vision, my choice was clear. No regrets, this TV is awesome. However, here in Germany the A95k is not double as expensive as the Samsung S95B. For the 65 inch version it is about two thirds of the price of the Sony TV (3200 Euro vs 2200 Euro.)

I have the Samsung S95B and the smart hub is so buggy and slow I bought a Roku. Really sucks to have to do this for a TV that coast this much money. I also had to return the first one for issue I was having with it. It does make a nice picture.

@@zerejp7861 probably just an a anesthetic problem. Never seen any reviewers talking about a bent panel affecting the TV. Most if not all say it doesn't cause any damage to the picture. Some are just nit picking. It's funny how people are sometimes, they want the thinest yet if there is one and there is an issue they start to hate on it. Also who watches the TV at a 90 degree angle? 😅 Even at an 80 degree angle you won't notice the bent. My suggestion is, if it does bother you then go have it replaced/exchanged if your retailer allows it. But if it doesn't bother you and you notice that there is no effect on the overall viewing experience then just keep it.

The s95b has excellent image quality., but I had to take 3 s95b's back to the store, one was bent, the second one would dim down and I would have to turn the tv off to get it back bright again , the 3rd one I would pick up the remote and the tv would come on, and all 3 tvs wouldn't work with my Marantz receiver's arc and I was still willing to keep it the image was that dam good . I bought the A95k and all problems solved and a bit better image , and i have seen the Panasonic oled 2022 side by side next to the s95b and the wrgb Panasonic olex had a better image I was shocked I would love to see what Panasonic could do with a qd oled with there heat sink technology they created the heat sink tech .

@@GetUrOwnHandle The Panasonic is better The s95b as far as color accuracy and skin tones and details , and the Panasonic is brighter than the G2 , they have 3 different heat sinks for there oled models, they created the technology and they use them to push there tvs to full brightness, The A95k is just a little bit better because of the color volume that the qd oled has . Panasonic and Sony's processing is just top notch over Samsung and lg . I hope Panasonic gets the a QD oled panel next year I could see them really pushing the QD oled to over 1500 nits with there own heat sink tech .

Great choice with the Panasonic, because their TV’s have excellent picture quality and this years OLED’s have excellent features gaming wise. Sure the Samsung is excellent value for money, but long term that build quality would worry me, because it feels cheap and doesn’t look like it’s built to last.

Watching this video on my LG C1 and both look incredible, although I'd give the Sony the edge on P.Q I'm watching Brazil v Serbia now in HLG 4K and tbh I really struggle to imagine a better picture from either of these 2 TV's, than the one I'm viewing now.

I’m still thinking of getting the Sony, but I’m waiting for another good price drop or will wait and see what comes out in the spring next year. I think the Samsung S95B has a great picture and excellent gaming features, but that build quality really puts me off as it doesn’t look like a premium TV that’s built to last.

I'd guess you have contrast enhancer on to some degree thats causing you to lose detail in bright areas. Shows right in the video you have the Samsung set to warm1 instead of warm2 and you wonder why the Sony looks more natural. Warm1 is still very cold. Warm2 and the TVs would look much much closer than they do.

I’ve tried both of these Tv for 1 month each and I gotta say that 800 $ is def more worth it for the Sony now you can’t go wrong with either, but Sony is def more superior in the TV world. Everyone mention Sony doesn’t have high brightness if you have this Tv in your room trust me your gonna actually enjoy that it’s not as bright it a perfect smooth quality

Yea the Samsung is blown out in some shots due to the camera but the color shifts on it are completely unforgivable. Nearly every demo was off in color. I do not understand how Samsung get away with selling panels with such inaccurate and inconsistent color.

Seems like it's really difficult to compare two displays with different brightnesses at the same time, because which one is going to look right is going to depend on the exposure of the camera. In the footage, the Sony looks just right while the Samsung looks overexposed. You could have just as well set up the camera so that the Samsung looks just right and the Sony looks underexposed.

God damn, I didn't think the image quality difference would be that noticable but the a95k honestly looks much better in most shots. I would argue it even looks better in the games, or at least it's 50/50 there. But yeah that Sony tax is definitely real. I'm curious to see what the a95l will look like. Too bad they're still stuck with only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports tho.

Only last week I got the C2 LG 65", wasn't sure between the S95B and the C2. With what I have seen and read the wavey screen, plastic look to it, laggy software, fading into the corners (on the display model I seen) and VVR issues after update, it put me off the Samsung

@@MrDutch1e bent screens, very poor build quality in general with how thin the screen is. Slow Tizen operating system that has a bunch of bugs. Motion that at least out of the box is terrible, I've seen LGs 50 HZ A2 have better out of the box motion. It's really a trash TV, Samsung should be embarrassed. Clearly rushed to beat Sony. Go onto the Currys website and read the customer reviews.

This is the problem with the S95B.. way too many issues out the box. Mine came with a dead pixel. Others with bent panels. Quality control is out the window. And even when you get an issue-free, it just feels 'cheap' in build quality & sound compared to the Sony.

Even when I assembled it, I thought I was going to snap, just going to wait and see when my replacement comes tomorrow. Any more issues and I will get my money back. Just to add, I bought a sound bar which you need to pump up the sound!

If money is no object. The Sony all the way. Past years, I was not impressed with Sony at all. 2022, they really stepped up. Personally, I don't mind the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports. I am running the TV through a Denon receiver that can do all that I want. Edit: I would say that if you are looking at only gaming on a big QD-OLED, there is no question, the Samsung is the clear winner.

The reason is I don't trust Samsung and their QC not to mention I have no love for their customer service. But since I already own LG's legendary C1 I am all good for a few years if not more.

I love the look of the Sony, hate the fact that it only has 3 gb RAM, an older MediaTek chip and only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, with one of them being an eARC port. For a master series and their "Sony tax" they charge, they sure did cheap out on it. What software updates have come along since it first came out? Anything worthwhile?

You gave good explanations, but you really to educate the viewers what the eotf curve is, and why the Samsung is brighter. It's pushing eotf on every mode, and pushing VERYA hard in game mode. That's why it's brighter. This isnt a capability thing. It's the fundamental picture quality differences between a sony and Samsung mindset

Hi. What firmware did you use for the S95B ? as a samsung 75 QN90A owner - I would def wait to upgrade to the likely incoming 2023 77" S95b/equivalent late next year/ 2024. 😍, another consideration since I have the HW930b 9.1.4 sound system is that the Sony tvs basically have their screens sitting on the table whereas the samsung is built to accommodate bar
