Hi, I am currently looking for buying a tv and am to select amidst Sony x80k 75" & x90k 65" with a viewing distance of 17 feet. My room is quiet bright and have bvd e3200 Blu ray Home theatre, probably the one used in this video. Could you please suggest which TV should I go ahead with.
VA panels have better contrast, which equals better black levels, but they have narrow viewing angles resulting in a washed out image if viewed from the side. IPS panels have the reverse with wide viewing angles, but shallower contrast resulting in grey blacks. I believe the 50 inch X80K has a VA panel, but it may vary by region.
50 inch uses VA panel. Good for contrast and deep blank but have bad viewing angles. IPS had poor contrast compared to VA but has vibrant colours and viewing angles. Plus IPS are known to be more robust. VA tends to heat during long watch times. That's why IPS are used for many commercial screen outdoors.
"Ultra Premium?" Compared to what? Rtings calls it "The Sony X80K is okay overall. It's a good TV for watching sports or TV shows in wide seating areas because it has a wide viewing angle and the image looks the same from the sides. However, it isn't good for watching movies or gaming in dark rooms because it has a low contrast ratio and lacks a local dimming feature. Its HDR performance is also sub-par as it has low HDR peak brightness." Digital Trends also calls it "OK and Average".
Ultra Premium because its a very expensive TV here in India. We dont get those cheap prices that the US gets, unfortunately. Also not all brands are available here. We have very limited options here, even under 1000 dollars(after conversion)
It’s may be less excellent to Sonys higher end models but this x80 is still better than most brands models. For you to say it’s only good for sports or tv shows is funny.
