I watched the video as you mentioned -- it was pretty cool! Yes he was using the inline remote for a Sony MiniDisc player. MD never gained popularity in the US but was super successful in Japan.
Nice video! Seems like CDs and players are on the rise again instead of dying off like many thought. Physical media will live on. I have that or equivalent model, silver design. I have pretty much all the same accessories as well, I didn't get the original box but I'm not really upset about it. I imported mine from Japan during 2020, they didn't ship until early 2021 due to lockdown limiting shipping out of Japan. At the same time I imported a very nice CD/minidisc deck, one of the latest models that support Hi-MD recording and USB. Overall I'm very happy with my products, as I was in high school I couldn't purchase premium items when they were new and obviously weren't available in USA either in case of Hi-MD.
My brother had a very similar one I believe we still have it somewhere. I used it a couple times and I enjoyed listening to cds on it and liked the fact that it was rechargeable at the time and you can actually replace these batteries unlike my new Monodeal portable cd player where it’s built in the player so that’s one thing I give credit to the old school Sonys. Il defiantly get one if I ever come across it someday
@@ToolsElectroDIYI'll definitely try to find it and track down the price its somewhere in are garage in one of 30 or more boxes thanks for letting me know this information if I do find it I'll definitely get a new battery and maybe fix it if needed and sell it for sure that kind of money is worth selling a player if you can get that much out of it
@@ToolsElectroDIY so a quick update, I've got a silver one, mint condition, not a scratch, only the AA adaptor is missing but tomorrow I'll be getting the replacement batteries. It works 100%, very nice sound, I use it with yamaha rx-497 and jamo speakers and subwoofer. Overall extremely happy with it.
can sony produce this again.. I tryna find on 2nd hand market but the price looks like I could buy a high res speaker. at least make it 500 units or less. there are people out there like us who still appreciate and listen to cds. if vinyl can come back, company can produce those vinyl player, why not for cds?? I have external cd player that plug in to my laptop. but I just get lazy sometimes. I need this portable cd player so bad. as a big fan of sony product, I'm begging :(
