On batteries or with plugged in 9V adapter, I encount the same problem, it turns off by itself. What can be the reason and how can I fix this? Any troubleshooting steps? Thank you!
Open it up and check to make sure the 4 wires are connected properly. There should be 2 for the spindle motor and 2 for the worm motor. The laser assembly power and control should be on a ribbon. Make sure there is nothing gunking up the worm motor because it doesn't look like it's reading the TOC (table of contents) on the disc which could mean a few things. The lens is dirty, the spindle is dirty and not making a good grip for spinning. The wires I was talking about make have cold solder joints or battery corrosion could have eaten through the traces (like mine), the worm motor is dirty and it is slipping due to dust collecting in the lubricant. Or the screw on the guide rails have come loose over the past several decades. Hope that helps
Salve a tutti! Poi muto! Non si è più acceso! Sapete dirmi qualcosa?
Adjust the variable resistor on the laser unit, probably the light beam is faint. After that, you can adjust the other variable resistors on the board until the music starts playing as it should.
