Finally, I actually thought you sold it because you took so long to review it. I have mine since 2019 and almost sold it, but I am so glad I didn't and will never do so. You did forget to mention that DMP-Z1 is discontinued now. Great review, BTW you sounded very excited and this showed in your voice, lol!
Picked up a Sony MDR-Z1R recently, and… it’s causing me to list all of my other cans for sale - including my beloved ZMFs 😮 Using it with an amp designed by Pass Labs’ Wayne Colbourn and its superb, but I can only imagine how great it would sound with the Z1
DMP Z-1 is just such a lovely statement piece. The looks alone certainly creates a unique allure about it. I think if transportable audio is your end game? Yeah. You gotta try and go for this. Lastly. I’m actually glad the DMP Z-1 doesn’t have built in streaming capabilities or services. Keeps it more the purest domain where by sound quality is of the highest importance. It really is awesome.
Thank you for all your perspective (and for rallying against the sea of specs and rather empowering what sits right with you over time). I have a question, I use a DAC/AMP for my computer (for videos, games, etc) and have always wondered what a price no object recommendation for this would look like. Is that a Holo stack? Could I use this in USB mode? I have 650s and Atriums as well as a Moon 430HAD currently. If this isn’t your forte, fair enough, just curious and thank you for the years of perspective on audio 🙏
Cable link please? This thing really should have included a preamp out. Anyway, I'm more of a speaker guy but you are one of my favorite DAC reviewers.
Both so you can sit on it and listen to it, lol. I almost bought the Eames 6 or 7 years ago, and now the prices have almost doubled. It's still on my bucket list.
