@@jaymesjmathias9390 A German company built a multilayer machine that would play every disc from all systems per brand but got sued by Microsoft and Sony, they never got sued by Nintendo but had to remove all the modules for Nintendo systems less than 20 yrs old. There is still a few companies out there doing this but they had the real solution.
@@Bigbyywolff1 yup sadly true, unfortunately that's the problem with money and capitalism. Why give you a cure when they can keep selling you all the shit that might help a little right..
I keep saying this. I would pay $100 to have sony make the emulator software for ps5 to have ps3-ps1. Develop it in house, sell it on the psn store. I would buy it instantly.
Sony likes money where Microsoft cares about there fan base to add backwards compatibility to there consoles Sony is just playing catch up at this point to Xbox
Of course they should. Why else would you number your consoles like they have if they are isolated from each other? They market them, like they are in a series of products but there are a ton of barriers and a confusing mess to play with backwards compatibility. It's honestly just hubris on their part at this point.
I don't understand why backwards compatibility is not the norm. You are giving people more justification to buy your system because of its versatility. Especially since it gives old games a 2nd chance at life. They say it's because of the developers, but why would the developers not want people to continue to play their games throughout the years?
as much as people talk about backwards compatibility theres not real 'value' to them to do it, more work less return type of thing your not buying the game again your just playing it on another console. As for the xbox doing it (backwards compatibility) they're core architecture hasn't changed as much (windows core), compared to the playstations changing a lot almost every generation. remember their in the business to make money, they lose money for every console they sell and make it back in fees (to devs/publishers) and accessories. and emulators are not 100% perfect so having to test those means a lot of money/work they'd spend with nothing coming back. Personally I'd love if backwards compatibility was norm but in the end its extra work for nearly no reward
what I hope they don't do well they might as the PlayStation five slim has detachable disc drive. They might make a separate drive that reads PS 3 and PS4 games
@@madmaxpane3694 from my understanding the only thing is the detachable drives is the disc drive it self (the current big boys, the slims will probably use the same setup), so attempting to stick an emulator on it wouldn't be ideal, it would still be software on the console directly and plugging in a disc drive.
@@sean70729 😂😂😂 you crazy 🤪 PS3 was way better then ps1 or ps2 even better then ps4. I Still got 3 of them and they still work. Better then any Xbox too 😂
My first PS3 game was GTA IV. What a World opened to me because the PS3 was my first console after the SNES. I still have my PS3 but I think it no longer works, might be the known battery issue, would only need to replace it, or it might be the dust dunes inside it; when I upgraded to a 8TB HDD there was a lot of super fine dust making tiny dunes on the inside, I wanted to blow some air into it but I was sure that would've been like throwing Smoke Gn in my room.
Don't blow air into it or use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the dust. It will only either push most of the dust into places that are harder to get to or pull more dust from the room into other vents as you suck it or from one. Fully open the chassis and use a can with compressed air to clean it off. Dust that doesn't want to go away easily can be cleaned with suitable liquid (not water or anything that corrodes or leaves a residue) using a dry, lintfree cloth.
I've been so confused with all this emulation talk. Can we just bring back it all?? That'd be a big win for Sony and gamers. Would love to be able to play old games again instead of having to keep buying them over and over and over...and over.
The problem is the PS3 game code was written specifically to the PS3 CPU. This was how they got such great performance (for the time). For the PS5 to play PS3 discs would literally require an additional PS3 CPU. Alternatively, which is what this sounds like, you program a "translator" (emulator) to translate the PS3 CPU machine code to PS5 CPU machine code.
@@Yacine_21uk. Depends on how you implement it. The Xbox Series X can't read Xbox 360 or original Xbox games, but it can recognize them. So all the backwards compatible games are a download from a sever, and is merely able to confirm the discs not play the game reading off them. Though I'm not a techie so I could easily be wrong. A flaw of this method is Microsoft relied mostly on first party, and with other publishers it had to get their permission. And with all these even mid budget games like "The Thing" with the possibility of getting remakes and remasters for old games, they'd be leaving money on the table by allowing this to take place.
@@walterroux291 u don't understand me I said ps5 was made to play ps4 and ps5 games they can't just make update that can run ps3 games unless they made new ps5 that run ps3 games Xbox 1 was made from the starts to run old xbox games
@@Yacine_21uk. I'm just saying that with Xbox Series X and I think S, and One aren't actually reading the disc in the sense the game is being streamed from the discs themselves like we're used to on consoles. All the disc does is allow you to download the game from Xbox servers to your own, and then the disc allows you to use that download. I know absolutely 100% that the PS5 can't natively run PS3 games from the disc, and never will unless an updated model comes. But was questioning whether a similar thing could be achieved through a similar technique, the PS3 discs acting like a key, that allows you to download the full game and run it entirely off of the hard drive, and as stated I'm not a techie so I've no idea if possible. I didn't misunderstand you, I just don't know whether the PS5 could be capable not of streaming the game from disc, but simply being able to recognise and correctly identify a PS3 game which is then run from the hard drive.
I bought and repaired over 6 ps3s last summer to boost the assasin creed online trophies before they got shutdown. Ps3's have a special place in my heart.
Ps3 discs on ps5 would be great. I still play my ps3 slim, on the same tv as my ps5, with the ps5 controller (it does work, I got a video on my channel). If they are enhanced, like many ps4 games, this would be great. Maybe even some dlc for them. You can still buy ps3 systems, used, but working.
The part where you mentioned about the GT7 license, The dry road area is your racing line and you wanna stay on it at all times without contact with the water on the group as much as possible . Steering or braking in the water will ruin your chances on obtaining the gold and coming off the road too easy.
Honestly, i just want my old digital purchases back. I had PS3, PS2, and PS1 games digitally purchased on the old store and I'm pissed that I can't play my old purchases.
Im still playing on PS4 so I've always had the emulation, I keep waiting for the month that PS+ brings out Scarface or somebody does a remake. I'd love to finally finish the Italian Job from the ps1 aswell.
I mainly just want exclusives to be compatible for download on PSP from the PS1 PS2 and PS3 era it would be awesome if Sony did a Microsoft but I don't think they'd do that
The best to activate PS3 on PS5 is firstly, opening the access to PS3 games store as many of us have bought PS3 games with their login profile. The disc compatibility can come later though or both simultaneously.
My first playstation was a PS2 but the PS3 become my comfort toy growing up for years till PS4/5. I legit bought a PS3 even tho I had a PS4/5 becuz I miss playing Tekken 6 on PS3.
Make PS1 games compaitable and run well more stable and quicker loading times. help out the classic speedrunners and revive the classic games that put PlayStation on the map !
@@chrisjopek6905 Or they can make an attachment to the PS5 like when PS2 and PS3 had attachments for certain games. Except it will be for a whole generation.
My friends know me as an avid PS3 owner. I've taken it to school on numerous occasions with a projector and played on wall and ceilings Little Big Planet, Devil May Cry, and my all time favorite, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. If Sony makes MGRR available on PS5 in a higher quality, I might consider buying it
yo jimmy the best game i played on ps3 was "the darkness" 1 and 2 best game I've ever played still my fav game to this day jimmy please play it try it out its so good the story is one of the best I've ever played
Honestly, I hope Transformers fall of Cybertron comes back that game was nice. It was fun even though the online is no longer available. I don’t care. I want to play on the PS5
Well enjoy not being able to play them I highly doubt sony is going to make them backwards compatible seeing most people don't even play those games anymore
I picked up a PS3 slim last year for $50 and started collecting for it. Most games are super affordable, like $5 - $10. Some collectable games can cost more but most are lower priced. The PS3 graphics are still very good and the games are arguably better quality than most of the games coming out today.
Arkham origins can't wait to play this game again...only Arkham game they didn't remaster. And it should of been a long time ago, this one is Amazing!!!
Arkham origins wasn't the best one yes it lead up to the rest of the games but origins not many people liked I'm playing it now for the first time and I see why not many liked the game only playing it because it's the only Arkham game I didn't beat
This would be the straw to break nintendo, xobX & all the rest so totally! & make all adapters to connect all accessories like every controller, PS Move, PS2, 3 ETC. cameras, VR PORTALS etc etc etc's😊😊😊
I still have my PS3, even though its now an oversized paperweight, I cant let it go as it is the backwards compatible model,, maybe there is or will be a fix for it oneday.
What was so special in the PS2 PS3 days, was that you could name a game back then and no one heard of it. Nowadays, you can name a game and everybody knows what it is because the catalog is so small. Jimmy all the games you just named back in the day I never even would’ve heard of them.
Jak and daxter collection is already available on PS5 it's the PS2 version of the games but you can buy the entire collection digital on PS5 and PS4 @@SetheMan
I actually don't agree the PS3 emulated games will be limited to first party. Quite the opposite in fact. First party devs used the ps3's weird cell architecture in increasingly esoteric ways to push output. I think these games are less likely to be emulated on such markedly incompatible hardware. We are more likely to see less taxing, less demanding multiplat games being supported. Possibly a hybrid between local emulation and cloud computing. I doubt we'll EVER see, say, killzone 2 or infamous 2 this gen outside of a dedicated remaster.
the best marketing devision from sony was that press release where they promised that you only have to buy a game once (if its available on their other platform, and then pushing out remasters of ps3 classics and not having backwards compatibility. if they do implement it then it will probably turn out like the og xbox-series x backwards compatibility not the xbox-xbox360 or xbox 360-xbox one situation. basically only putting up cheap to license abandonware on the emulators whitelist. (only 60-ish disc based ogxbox games are available to play on the series x, even halo is unsupported, watch dankpods' video on the topic)
I hope they sell some crazy disks full of older games that work on the newer systems that simply need to purchase and run on the current systems. They could make mad money and all the fans would be happy.
2:39 I hate that so much, like I don't understand y they can't just have the ps5 read any ps3 game, if they do make it to were specific ps3 games are going 2 be on the ps5, let us all hope that they patch it to were it can read any ps3 disc.
I said that before when the ps5 released, if sony want to make it they can so easily . The technology they have now is way better than the time of the ps3 era, so if they want they can.👍
Don't care about MS games why should PS users support MS games and subsidize xbots ability to play Game Pass on the cheap. Sony's secret deals who cares? Doubtful true PS3 native support will happen. Sony's never going to let us buy used PS3 games and let them just work. Sony still wants to make money on this even if it's just through PS+
Activision Blizzard and Bethesda are now owned by Microsoft so from now on every cod game you buy or fall out game you buy Microsoft is making profit so you should care about Microsoft games
All sony need to do is this: make the psvr2 wireless. Finger tracking, partner or allow yaw 2/ yaw 3 to conect with ps5 console/ headset for racing games like gt7 and roller coaster games. Have rockstar to add grand theft on psvr2. Grand theft, call of duty, need for speed, God of war. The Playstation portal, playstation room with astro. A vr space for real entertainment, cinemas, and theater rooms. So people can use the headset to watch movies when tired of playing games. Multiplayer vr games. The vr can also mix with A/r. With all those cameras on the front. Upgrade them. Sony can do it. They need to focus on what people want if they want to make money. Too much dam restriction.
Very exciting news. Proper backwards compatibility, like the ones from Xbox with trophies enabled for every game, would personally be the selling point for me to get a PS5.
It would be nice, dont see how yet if the digital PS 3 games could be accessed on the PS 5. Maybe the PS Vita, PS1 and 2 as well that are already in your library.
You do realize if they do this backwards compatibility it's the game and servers running on a PS3 so if they do it right you will be able to use a PS5 headset they just need to take a page from Microsoft and do it right
6/26/24 For me I see the trend like you mentioned in this video that there is a new generation of gamers that started gaming with a PS4 have not seen all the great games that came out for PS3. It would be great if Sony does get an emulator out like Xbox has to play a long list of PS2/3 games with better graphics and frame rate. Sony and Xbox both have the ability to release DL games on there sites and make additional profits to a new generation of gamers. I have notice that there are a lot of interest in PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles and classic games that can be be purchase dirt cheap compared to a new PS5 or Xbox X and a boat load of used games at 1/5 the cost of the now $80-100+ of PS5 or Xbox X new releases. The push for me to upgrade for a lot of us is not only better graphics, faster load times, or new games, but games that captured us in the past now at a reasonable prices and have hours of great game fun. Having the latest and greatest is OK for the few that have the means, but lets not forget all that we enjoyed playing in the past a second time around.
You know it kinda worries me that specific games would be playable from the ps3 because I grew up playing Sonic Unleashed and Generations as a kid. So I would be super bummed out if other games are playable and not those 2 at the very least.
I just wish they would sell the parts tp rebuild a ps3 completely. I have one that no one can do anything with. it needs a major overhaul and its just frustrating
It's a bit early to get excited about what is going on with this right now. People's jumping off the deep end right now saying that they are going to bring in full backwards compatibility. I personally would absolutely love this but I can't see it happening. All they have done so far is get a couple of games working on the system with what seems like by all accounts extremely mid emulation. If they bring in full backwards compatibility that allows the use of discs already owned it will be a game changer, not only for Playstation but for backwards compatibility across the board. We can all hope but I'm not holding my breath. I more expect a very limited version to be the final result.
