Can’t afford the a7siii I already bought. Had to get rid of Spotify. Disney+ RU-vid premium, but. I’m looking into selling my kidney right now. Would love to do more corporate work
GREAT PRESENTATION minimum body and hands movement Directly to the point No meandering No nonsensical stories soooo much better than DPreview all-body-move-with-every-word guy. That guy need an IBIS
Once again, great video Matt. I was stoked about this camera however I think personally, this isn’t going to get me to upgrade from the a7siii. I like the compact size and the IBIS too much. If the FX6 was 6k, did internal raw, and had the IBIS I would for sure consider but yeah, gonna stick with what I got! 😬
I think one of the mainpoints here on RU-vid is, that many RU-vidrs promote Hybrid Cameras, which always have that hybrid DSLM/DSLR look.. Nice to see you show some real filming tools as well!
The reason why in Cinema Camera - there is no IBIS - because, because of the size and weight, they do not have the small vibrations. (And larger tremors, preferably with a shoulder grip ...)
I watch your video and I’m like hell yeah i wanna buy it. Then i watch Gerald’s video and I’m like nah I’ll stick with my a7siii. The tap touch AF feature being cumbersome. Shutting down when changing frame rates. No AF in certain modes. No 120fps, and then him saying the dynamic range was legit the same. Along with you don’t get 10bit unless you shoot all intra. That shit killed it for me 🤣
By the time you add an XLR input, and multiple good quality ND filters, you would have already made up the difference in price between the A7s iii and the FX9. I still prefer the sensor and form factor of the C70 over the fx6.
I really think your video is great but as a big Sony user I've got to say that this new camera if you try and fly on the gimbal you have to really do a massive workaround to be able to monitor the sound that isn't cool I have a number of a 7S threes and a number of Fx 9 different cameras different jobs
nowdays "true cinema camera" is difficult when you think that this camera have at the end the same exactly image quality than the A7sIII and in other hand you have a camera like Red KOMODO that it is a "true cinema camera" and have nothing of professional audio or nd or somenthing else, but probably the best image quality.
This is a fantastic video, thanks Matt! For some time I have been trying to understand what are the pros and cons, in terms of ease of use, ergonomics, and quality, to recording audio directly into a cinema camera such as the FX6, given that it has the xlr inputs, versus recording audio externally to something like a Zoom recorder, in a sort of rigged out mirrorless camera setup using the as7iii. For consistency's sake, let's assume in both scenarios a professional-grade shotgun mic such as the MKH-416 is being used. Any comments on this would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Mattebox can utilize an nd filter, although the Sony fx6 nd filters are impressive, the a7s iii is incredibly more worth it (IMO). Seems like some of the a7s iii are overheating. And that’s not good! :(
Very good review Matt 👍🏻😉 i have my fx6 now since 4 weeks and I am very happy with it, but I am still testing the best settings 🥴 best cinematic greetings from 🇩🇪 #filmmakingismypassion
hey matt i got a big problem, i got a lot of videos in my render list but i cant export them without render issues. i have filmed in h.265 on a fujifilm xt3 i exported my video about fifteen times but in every export is all 10 sekunds a grey picture or fully pixelt footage what can i do now alle my clients are waiting but i dont know what to do. maybe because of the proxys but i followed your proxy video and chnaged the framerate from 60 to 50................. please i need your help...
I think you will find that the Canon C300 Mark iii has in body image stabilization Matt, great review thou, how the big boys are upping their game with cameras these days. WOW what will be next
@@whoismatt Hey matt, I was looking to buy the 160GB CFexpress card for the first slot and for my second slot I would purchase a 80gb CFExpress card, would having two different size cards work?
Awesome camera. It might have an achilles heal for me though. Having to activate the touch focus instead of just touching the screen whenever you want seems annoying. Since I haven't used it yet, it's hard to say, but the C70 touch focus seems more user friendly. I do love that Sony has eye detection. Eye detection is way more important than face/head detection.
Price is an issue. a7s iii for me, but that one is still practically impossible to get. Filmmakers say, "I have it." ... "I have it." But when I go online, NOBODY HAS IT. And they keep extending the "expected" date they'll have it. And even when they get it in, there's literally a line of people by the hundreds waiting to get it before you. Frustrating.
New on this channel, and I love it! Great content. Pleasant to listen to and very clearly explained. Sub and like! Now make us some more of this candy please..
When you consider the price one would think that not everyone will buy it because it costs more than any dslm/dslr. But it is actually the contrary. There are a lot of people who shoot with cinema cameras that cost a lot more and have deeper pockets who are probably going descend on this thing like a bunch of vultures. This thing might see demand just like the A7Siii. Better order early.
Sony PLEASE - > Put an audio jack in the actual body (not the just the top handle). This would make the camera much more versatile for run-gun / gimble / compact use.
Don't base your camera decision on the colour it produces? What kind of advice is that? All these reviews ramble on about specs but never show side by side example footage, but I guess colour and image quality is not really what fan boys are interested in!
Different cameras though. I'd compare more to an Ursa Mini Pro Gen 2. Blackmagic should really invest in a great continuous AF and maybe IBIS/Gyroscope system for their next cameras. They already have resolution down. I can only see them adding those features. Here's hoping!
One of the best features of mirrorless cameras that has been missing from Sony cinema cameras so far, are the custom dial modes which allow you to easily switch between different frame rates or other settings quickly during a run and gun setting such as a wedding. I was hoping this would be a feature on the fx6, can you confirm?
Sony stuck in film camera form factor because. Here's an idea, make the A7Siv look like a Hasselblad, even cooler and now room for plugs and screens. On the Fx9 I like 240fps, 4 channels audio, nd filter. Don't like price!
I own a R5 and EOS R, the reasons that i'm not considering the c70 are the inability to rotate the handle, mini xlr, all compressed codecs above 30p which are terrible for editing and the price tag!! the C70 should be like a $4k camera... I need canon to come out with a fx6 that's not $10k like the c300 mark iii
@@Samvisualarts yeah, i agree. it's a no brainer. the only thing that holds me as a canon user is because of the investment on a lens. canon cripple hammer is so strong that it's off putting
@@Samvisualarts Because as a C100mkII owner, that's the camera I was waiting for, for so long...Specs are not everything..I always prefered my C100 over my A7III even if the Sony was better on paper. But during a wedding I always try to be as discret as I can, to get real and authentic reactions, and for this reason I felt that my C100 was a bit too big. So now with the C70, I will get all I need. And in addition to that, I prefer the RF lenses. I sold my A7III for the R6, and I'm super happy. I tried so many cameras, I'm not a Canon fanboy, I just use what's best for me, that's all.
Hi Matt, hope you will answer, that is very important for me to make a decision - to buy or no to buy: do you think, it will work properly if I´ll attach the Rode VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter and then via that adapter switch lav mic system - Rode Wireless Go? Thanks in advance
Did this work for you? I’m about to try it this way: F3 recorder->Rode VXLR Adapter->Rode Wireless lav. I’m excited to be able to record with the 32bit float but am wondering if it will even work
As a canon user, canon is going to have to swallow their pride and start coming down to earth lol. There are multiple reasons that I did not even consider the C70, and if the FX6 came with a RF mount it'd be an instantaneous buy.
Sony's strategy is that they must win the battle against Canon even at the expense of cannibalizing all their cinema line. Not sure if that's going to pay in the long run.
Great review Matt, and totally agreed regarding your thoughts on the FX6 vs. FX9. I bet a lot of FX9 owners are scratching their heads and considering trade-in right about now! But the big question is, do you think the FX6 pushes Sony to finally unlock full 6k recording on the FX9???
I love my FS5, its great for outdoors in the FL heat. This looks like something I could add in the future. But till then I'll make the most of my FS5 and A7siii.
Love the FX9 comment at the end, as a FX9 owner.. I am a bit wondering if I should have had waiting but I was also a long-term FS7 owner and sometimes showing up to corporate and commercial gigs with a BIGGER camera maybe not a BETTER camera is still a good thing as they see Bigger as Better. I will still hold on to and us my FX9 for Broadcast and some commercial gigs but will be ordering an FX6 . Thanks for the time you put into these Matt!
s cinetone doesn't give u any added dynamic range benefits. id say its just similar to the other picture profiles like cine 2. even pp off (with lowered contrast ).
Good review Matt. Always enjoy your vids. And while I agree with almost everything you said, there's a couple things I think you missed. 1- The auto focus, while good, isn't nearly as good as the A7S3. The touch screen monitor is nowhere near as good and it in fact lacks actual touch screen tracking auto focus, in that you can't switch between subject/object. You have to use the joystick to move your tracker (But the AF is still amazing) The sunshade is ancient. The menu system is also far behind and nowhere near as convenient. The lack of a built in viewfinder is disappointing as is the fact that there are no XLR's on the actual body. If you want to record legit audio, you NEED to have the handle attached (my biggest complaint with the Canon C300 MKII). However, they did get a ton of things right and this is an absolute beast of a camera. And if it hits all the marks that you need for the work you do, it's a no brainer. For me the lack of XLR's on the body and no viewfinder are not total deal breakers but not enough to upgrade from the A7S3 or even my C300 MKII. At least until the price drops considerably
Actually, Matt, it is not just FX9 owners who should be worried but Sony a7siii owners as well. I think at this point, Sony a7siii is not worth it for professional videographers or independent filmmakers. I will be saving up for Sony fx6 in two years. Patience, discipline, and required features are the way to invest in video cameras.
Honestly shooting commercial stuff it'd be amazing to have FX6 and A7S3 combo for handheld and more traditionally shot stuff but being able to use the same sLog3 and match it in post. Also any long form gig such as conventions are way easier if you're able to throw a massive NPF battery for a whole day.
Amazing camera specs, design and ergonomics. But I still want a RAW workflow and a little more than 4K to be able to crop a bit and still deliver in 4K. I want something that doesn’t exist (of course!) which is a combination between the FX6 and the Ursa Mini Pro G2, this would be amazing 😍
I've notice that some cinema cameras has this kind of cine-texture, even Blackmagic. And that is something that I didn't find on FX6 and A7SIII (obviously), both looks digital and sharp. Am I wrong?
Hey Matt. Great job as always you really know your stuff. I need a favour- I know you're super busy and probably have all your content planned but I want to request a video. Im from the Caribbean and want to start a RU-vid channel but I need a laptop or desktop. I'm on a $700-$800 budget and really flustered by all the sales happening could you please evaluate the market and current deals and give me some advice? I'm a girly girl who knows nothing about tech and I need to make every dollar count as I would have to ship it here.
Hey Matt, how do I set my FX6 to 120fps? I know I set it to 120 fps 4k before, but my settings got changed and I can not figure out how to set it to that again other than s&q mode.
I used to use big cine cameras but to be honest filming weddings using camers from multiple angles there just to big to store, plus gimbals are way lighter smaller and cheaper for the s3
ehat does the term .cinema camera; meran?? It get used a lot but I thought i meant a camera for a project that would be seen in a cinema on a large screen.....,
FX6 in two years. Video cameras that I have now, work great (Sony a5100, a6100, Sony a7r3, Fuji XT3, Panasonic GH4, and Sony FS700r) for the next 5 years! Only need to get FX6 for the low light capability and for the featured film that I may want to do in the next two years.
