Sony Handycam Full Memory / SD Error Fix. Format / Initialize / Delete SD card. 

Thank you so much, I was stressing about this exact problem that occurred today on my sony FDR AX53 and wondered if I would find some great expert on you tube who could help. So I searched and you came up! This video was so easy to follow and my camera all fixed. Thank goodness for people like you. Saved my day. Keep up your amazing work and videos. Hi Joel! Just transferred my files from the main camera drive to my computer with a USB cable I just purchased. However, I'm trying to transfer files from my SD Memory Card but Windows Explorer is not reading the drive. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance, your videos are fantastic!

Hi. I just bought the CX455, and while I realize you have a different camera, maybe you can help. How many hours do you get out of a battery? Can you operate the camcorder plugged into an outlet and therefore not run on battery but electricity? Thanks for any clarification you may provide.

I wonder if you have any more help atall or anyone reading my comment know anything? my Samsung hmx-f80 camera is coming up SD card error, I formatted the card in the computer, I tried many other cards still comes up the same. I came across your video but my format option on the camera is faded, wont let me select it. any ideas what else I can try? thank you

My SONY 455 doesn't have the same type of menu that you have on yours, that I've found. I have deleted almost all videos in my camera's memory, but I believe that whatever I've recorded are on my memory card too! which is why I'm getting something like 4 minutes of time left. I cannot locate how to reformat and delete things on my "card" so I plan to buy another mem card and start over. Although I'll try and find what you have suggested. Thanks. KEN

I have a really really old sony camcorder I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out how to format my sd card but i don’t know how to switch to filming on it’s memory instead of the hdd’s, i also cant seem to figure out how to save the hdd videos onto the sd card which is weird do you have any idea how to help me please?

I was told by the guy in the store that you couldn't delete the memory on the card and you have to get another one for new recording. I thought that was a little strange but now you say you can delete memory you no longer need? I have a Sandisk. Does it matter? Well, thanks for the info.

Thanks man this worked for me I had a problem i got the cx405 and after i delete videos the image or thumbnail i guess is still on the camcorder, i know its deleted because the space is available but when i go to menu edit and try to delete the images this key symbo isl on the all the images and i cant do nothing when i click on them. Or when go to play mode and the images pop up the key symbol is not their but it tells me no image🤨 i hope that makes sense it probably doesnt lol but after i formatted the card it fixed everything

I have a minolta camcorder. If turn it on plugged in it will work. Unplug it and it will not turn on, the battery was charged over night so that is not the problem. I bought it on hsn and never used it so its from last year. Too late to send back. So frustrated. Can you help? Thanks Thank you for returning the call I had new batteries charged overnight and still would not work. My own fault for letting it sit and not trying it when I got it. I had the extra warranty on it. I fought with them and did get the full amount I paid for it. But lost the other two years on the warranty. I order a new one same kind on ebay which had alot of extras. So I lost maybe $25. I thank you for returning the answer to me. You think someone would do a youtube on these on trouble shooting on it. Even the manual should have had trouble shooting.

So, if the internal memory is full, you can add a memory card,and everything on the internal memory will remain on there&not lost;right? I'm asking because my camcorder has only been used to document every moment of my daughter's life from the day she was born;I just don't want something to happen to it all,But want to add a card to expand storage

Hi! I know this is an old video so hoping you're still active I recently got one of these recorders from a friend who was clearing out the attic and on mine when I tried to record or format the card (its empty and I've tried two different sd cards) i get the error saying "Failed to create a new image database file. it may be possible that there is not enough free space" when on the media info it showed mine has 50% full instead of your 100% but thats the only things that were different...just cant seem to work this out 😊

Thanks-- the Memory stays full EVEN after I switch Micro to my computer to download and clear, when I put the micro SD back in the Sony Cam it shows full again. Thanks I'll try it your way--E
