I ended up buying this cam on Facebook for $300 after watching your video. Love it so far. The firmware update did help with the focus (I was scared of it too). It does have high speed recording at 120fps. If you change the format from avchd to xavc s the option appears in modes.

@@MichaelWTurner you mentioned you cant adjust the sharpness or contrast, would you have suggestions on settings for color grading later? is the cinematone the best option?

Don’t have one! Just will buy the right product to capture footage of my kids soccer/basketball games. I’ve been shooting with my iPad Pro and like how easy it is to edit and upload to social media. I’ll buy whatever is the best for a low IT guy

I just got this camera, and I wanna do Time Lapse. Does this camera even have this feature?

Haven't owned the camera in years but I'm 95% sure that is does not. It's a feature that would've stuck out to me

I have my HDR CX 900 since April 2014, and I cannot figure out how to record in time-lapse mode. Sony on-line instructions say to go to menu, then shooting mode, then time-lapse, but mine doesn't show that. Any ideas?

It was really an interesting review and a joy to watch. So, you are looking for a camera with picture profiles/log recording and color correction in post production. Then the Canon GX10/XF400 are not really for you, since they cannot record C-Log; they have only three Looks: Standard, Wide DR and Monochrome, that's all. You also mentioned that you don't like cameras for video that have been designed primarily for photography. What do you think about GH5, then?

+Miklos Nemeth I haven't used the GH5, but it seems a lot of people are in love with it. I have a GH4 and I do like it, but it's not my favorite camera.The JVC Ls300 is what I use the most. I just really like ND filters and dedicated buttons and switches for things. And the prime zoom feature is really helpful. I don't know if the gh5 does something like that - the extended zoom. I do prefer the gh4 for vlogging though.

Definitely a way better - camera 1 inch sensor, xlr inputs, more buttons and switches too.

Yeah for only $250-$350 more. I was warning people at Best buy not to cheap out and by this one but to save and buy the NX

thanks! i have this camera. On the auto focus how do you set it. Mine seems to not focus right some times. --thanks

I actually wound up selling this camera, but I recall there being a Af/MF button on the left side of the camera that you would use to toggle between manual and auto focus. Not sure if this is what you are asking. I don't think there was a way to adjust the sensitivity of the auto focus in the menus. I found the auto focus to be just ok. However after I sold it, I discovered there was a firmware update that helped with the auto focus. Try that if you haven't already done so, and let me know if it helps.

thanks Michael...Ill check that out. And the firmware update. I almost got the 4K model and should have. I was thinking of selling this camera. What do you think its worth. Like new. And is there a new Sony 4K camera video camera coming out maybe?--thanks! --stan

You'll probably get about 800 dollars for it. I'm not sure if there is another sony 4k video camera coming out soon, but it seems they put a new mirrorless camera out every month. All of their newer ones are 4k, but I'm not too fond of shooting videos with cameras that are meant for stills. It all depends on what you're shooting.
