I bought mine last week and love it. It's not just the TV sound, music sounds are great too - especially linked by Bluetooth to Echo Dot with Amazon music. 75 million songs, many of them 360 spatial. Just tell Alexa what you want, switch to Bluetooth and it plays. The SW5 is excellent and a little loud for our flat (apartment), but easy to reduce the bass on the remote at night. The Vebos speaker stands arrived this morning and are very cool. Easy to set up and no dropouts for me. Fantastic system.
My set up was flawless. But it took me almost a six months to figure out that you need advance auto volume on, to take full advantage of the TV center speaker capabilities. Smh
See those are the little issues that unfortunately we have to live through with a 1st gen product. You just gave me a great idea for the next video, because I think a lot of people are making that same mistake. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
Yeah made a massive difference in the Audio with speach when that was activated, Sound went through the roof especially on Quiet scenes, Absolute Beast of a setup love it 👍🏻
Just got this system today to replace A7000 setup! Where do you find this setting!? Thank you for actually putting something helpful out there for people to see!
@@GCharlesE go to advance settings next to 123 essay setup. Then go to audio settings scroll down to advance audio volume and make sure it's on. Also make sure you connect your audio cable from your box to your TV. If you have a Sony tv
Love love love this system. I have one of my own which I purchased two months ago and it’s seriously a must have for gaming and watching movies. I honestly have not used it barely at all for music since I usually play music from my iPhone or in my car. I mainly used the HT-A9’s for gaming and movies and omg I totally satisfied with the performance. I don’t have any subwoofer yet connected to it but it’s not a major need for me because I live in an apartment and would literally cause havoc however I do intend to get a subwoofer at a later point. The HTA9 does a really good job projecting base as it is, but you definitely will need to get a subwoofer to get optimal performance as intended.
Yeah it's definitely hard to go back to anything else after you've listened to HT A9s. Glad you're loving it! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
I have the A-9 system with the bigger sub. I absolutely love it. Very very easy set up. Frankly blows Sonos out of the water in performance and that cinema sound stage audio. It’s sad there’s very few videos that review this system. Yes, it’s pricey but that’s the price you pay for serious sound. This is not meant for budget friendly rookies.
I bought it, set up, took about 10 minutes, and then it sounded really bad ass. I’m pretty sure I spent a lot more money. Just modifying my living room to support a full out. Atmos set up. I’m good with the price I guess.
If you have a 2020+ Sony TV that has the feature to sync with this system, highly recommand this set. Have it since launch and it's a blast. The "spaciality" is the highlight of the set. Have to get the SW5 sub though.
Thanks Dad tech!!!!!! I picked up the Samsung Q990c and am loving it, but would love to try the Sony. Was able to get the Q990c for $709 brand new from Samsung and since the Sony HT A9 with sub cost around $2500 the Samsung was a no brainer. Would still love to try the HT A9, I love the simplicity of HT A9! And have love how you can put the speakers anywhere, that can not be overstated how important that is, you don’t have to go out of your way to place the speakers in a perfect position. Thanks for this amazing video!!!!!
Please do a review comparing Sony HT-A9 with the SW5 to Sonos arc with 2 sub gen subwoofers and 2 one(s). I am mostly concerned about the surround sound and the bass. I haven't had experience with either but I'd prefer the best surround sound, clarity and bass between the two setups, like you have explained with Sony while watching certain scenes in a movie or instruments in music. Thanks
I have this system in my large living room, it creates a space and really immerses you in the movies. Great system when paired with the bigger sub. I sold my Sonos and soulnos for this system.
Thank you for an awesome real-world review. If I may ask, does the source of the video make a difference to the audio quality of these speakers and make them worth it or not? For example, if I only stream movies, would I be able to take advantage of the quality of these speakers? Or is it only noticeable when using Ultra Blu-Ray physical discs? These speakers look perfect, but I just worry I am going to over-pay for features I may never use or notice because I just stream content and play video games. But I still want to hear the full extent of the sound in my streaming and video gaming content available. Cheers, friend.
The source definitely matters. These days a lot of the streaming services offer Atmos as a default mix, but it's not available for every movie. The plus side of going with a more "traditional" receiver setup, is that most mid tier receivers and above, can upmix non Atmos. Video games will definitely make use of the surround capabilities, but even then only some utilize the vertical aspects of the soundstage. I would suggest that you go with something less niche, and save yourself a ton of money. Hope that helps! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
First, connected with Sony tv, this is great deal, because on Sony tv activate 3D surround built in tv,so the sound is stronger then. And this is 360°realitx sound device, first in the World. And big adventage is that you can put speakers where ever you want. I love this device.
Hi! Thanks for the review! How would you compare the ht9 plus subwoofer vs a traditional 5.1.4 (ie klipsch reference cinema) system? Ideally I’m looking for an immersive system but having difficulty going with figuring out if I should go with the ht9 or the 5.1.4 av speaker route.
I tested the A5000 with the SW3 and RS3 rears. I used the A90J as the center channel. My GOD that 360 spatial sound mapping is awesome. I sat behind the speakers and it felt like I had a speaker behind me. Definitely doesn't have to just be the HTA9 to get the most out of it.
this is the next best thing. I would gladly have this over a soundbar setup that does not do surround effects justice in shows and movies. ahead of this would be installing atmos speakers on the ceiling for a setup that is invisible and inviting for a living room space. you don’t want giant rear channel speakers in a living room. at least most wives would agree.
I’m seriously considering this. Great concise review, only missing some actual audio and with/without sub comparisons. Would also be interested to hear why you wouldn’t recommend using your Sony tv as a centre channel.
Yeah, I'm going to get more environmental audio equipment for sound tests, otherwise it's difficult to capture the essence of environmental audio, especially with all of youtubes compression. The center channel is like a half hearted attempt to incorporate their sony tv speakers. The logic for frequency handoff isn't well thought out and will cause some muddling of your sound, as the Bravias don't have the logic to isolate for center channel only when you connect it to their soundbar system. Thanks for the view and comment! I hope you subscribe!
The HT A9 definitely has better separation, and the DSP is more pronounced, but being able to daisy chain my sonos components is a huge plus. So my opinion, if you're not steeped in the Sonos ecosystem, go with the HT A9. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
Hello.. I just got my ht A9 today and I setup it up.. It was luckily a breezy setup without the sub.. Where do I need to go to find the helicopter and leaf and other 360 reality audio demo??
Go in to the menu screen, by pressing menu on your remote, then go into speaker calibration. The system will go through a calibration process and at the end of the calibration, it will play the demo. Hope that helps! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
Connecting the box to a compatible Sony TV will use the TV's speakers as a center channel, you said not to do this. Could you elaborate on why this recommendation.
The issue with most tv audio engines up until now, is that they still don't have great discrete sound processing. What you'll end up getting is a center channel mix that doesn't realize it's been hooked up to a home theater system, and that it should no longer worry about "center channel specific," frequencies. So you'll get a muddled mix from the center channel with the rest of the speakers. Hope that helps! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
@@DadTecc thanks for that excellent synopsis...i find it amazing that sony would market this for usage with their high end tv's, and yet it does not work properly..so it becomes a great feature on paper, but in reality it becomes best not to implement...
Hi, i have one question. Is the s-center out must be connected to the specified Sony TV ? Is there any others option, for example a Center Unit Speaker.
Hi! Thanks for all the great content! I have a small room with no windows 14*12*8 where I am planning to put an 83 inch A90J. Considering the size of the room, and a total budget of around 7-8k which soundbar would you recommend I pair it with? Thanks!
For 7-8k, that's a great budget if you can find a way to get some separates in there! If not, HT A9s are a good way to go! Also, if you're really tight on space, the Ambeo soundbar is a great 1 unit component! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe! Good luck on the setup and let me know what you went with!
Are there any more budget hub&speakers wireless home theater systems? I’ve got a projector and I want to get the audio around to the front without wires. Cheers
no comparison...I bought both.,..the sennheiser went back within a week, the Sony stayed put....it was love at first hear, for me..the sennheiser is vg among bars, but you cannot acheive what this sony system does, unless you have separate speakers...imho
Hi and thanks for your videos. I went thru setup effortlessly but after calibration I have the front right speaker dominant. It’s really distracting. Tried to re calibrate with no results. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
I've had the system for 2 weeks now and I'm experiencing audio drops. It mostly happens when someone walks in front of the speakers. I'm considering returning the system once I figure out what I want to replace it with.
Hi thanks for the video, I am in Chile so the sa-sw5 is not officially here there is only the sa-sw3 at 300$ I could import the sa-sw5 but at the cost of 1000$ I was wondering if the difference in sound would be worth it? Thanks
This is one those times, where I would tell you to save up for the sw-5 and not bother with the sw-3. I have a video coming out on the sw5 that will explain why I make that statement. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
Appreciate the review! Can you let me know what you think would be optimal positioning for these speakers? I've heard these make the biggest impacts in big rooms and its not that my room is small(my seating position is about 11 feet from the projector screen) but there is only going to be about a foot of space from the seating area to the back wall and I want to make sure that would still produce the best experience from these speakers.
@@GCharlesE I set them up where it made sense. On the back wall on either side of the room and they sound incredible. These things do such a good job of communicating with each other that they are gonna sound good wherever you put them. You’re in for a treat once you get them set up. The audio demo after set up is beautiful haha
I think it's a great idea for a product but i wonder how long it will last because it very depended on the software. When the set up box ages or breaks down you can throw away the entire system. Great review by the way👍
Yeah this is always the issue with very software dependent systems. I'm still passed that sonos stopped supporting gen 1 hardware. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe! Thanks!
I agree, the Homepods were getting pretty close. Still baffles me why they don't want a piece of this market! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
@@DadTecc subscribed! I actually became a dad so Dad Tecc sounds like something I should be subscribed to. I am looking for a great home cinema music system, is this a good option in your opinion when you compare to let's say some bookshelfs+ sub like SVS Ultra and 3000 Micro/kef ls 50, concept 30 or Towers in the 1500 dollar pricerange? How does the HT A9 stack up? My issue is it feels like these are outrageously expensive considering the whole "soundbar label". I know these are dedidcated speakers but the drivers look tiny. Granted my room isn't the biggest. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment.
@@paulallen9518 I'd go separates for now. These are highly niche. Premium yes, but definitely niche and expensive. I'm a proponent of standalone components whenever you can swing it, unless there's a real reason that drives you towards all in one solutions, like space constraints or inability to run wiring.
Based on universal positive reviews I purchased this system with the SW-5 sub. It has been the most disappointing experience ever! It sounds terrible and dull with no dynamics whatsoever. The sub is woefully inadequate, especially considering the price. Integration with my setup is severely lacking, with no iOS support of any meaning and an infra-red late eighties remote control so I can’t lock the base unit in a closet. The system loses connection to the speakers almost daily due to interference on the 2.4GHz wifi band. In other words, your review doesn’t even come close to my reality. This system is crap in every aspect, especially if you consider the premium price tag. Not worth it!!! Edit: I have made an appointment with a Sony service center to have my setup checked/repaired. My experience is so much worse than everyone else’s that I’m almost hoping that my system is broken.
