Sony MHC GZR-77D Eject and Standby problem easy fix (stereo shuts itself off) 

This video is only for GZR-77D If you have any other model Sony Hifi I can't guarantee that this will work, so please don't comment oh it does not work, THIS WORKS ONLY ON MHC GZR-77D

This also works on Sony MHC-GZR777DA which is the model that I have. You just have to be in Demo mode and do the combination button taught in this video, Rec to tape , disk 3 and power on. The particular model that I have does not have a demo mode button on the stereo itself so you have to use remote control to get into the demo mode but If you don't have the remote control, don't worry because you can get in to "Common Test Mode" which will eventually get you to "Demo mode" when you turn it off and turn it back on and it will stay in "Demo mode" forever every time you plugged in your stereo it will go on "Demo mode" right away so you can do the combination right away the Rec to tape, disk 3 and power on button without having to go to Demo mode repeatedly. To get into the "Common Test Mode" just press the "Stop button", "Preset EQ button", "Disc 1" and "Power on" simultaneously and then you'll see a "VACS0" message on the screen then voala! you're in Common Test Mode then turn off your stereo and turn it back on you'll be in "Demo mode" forever.

We meaning my 👪 and I had these problems last night with our stereo that my dad had in his years of adolescence. It kept shutting itself off multiple times when I was playing my "Travel songs" playlist that I made on Spotify for my 📱 🔟R at our 🏠 before dinnertime. The stereo's connection kept taking us back to the beginning of the playlist I told you about in the comment boards (e.g. Angels On My Side by Rick Astley). Thank you very much. 👏🏻

You're a savior. This is by far the best use of RU-vid I've had. I was about to throw my music system away since Sony had refused toservice it anymore stating that they do not have the belt. My model number is MHC-GZR888D. It worked like a charm. However, I'd still like to get my hands on a new belt and have it fixed once and for all. Many Many Many thanks to you brother. Also, it has a subwoofer out at the back. Can you guide me which subwoofer can be attached to it?

I think i found it.. in my system, i have to make sure that i have to keep the system in the demo mode... in short in standby or clock mode this code is not working.. but it is working in demo mode. Thanks a tonn man.. my system has an inbuild colour screen which doesn't work wither..haha.. due to covid 19, i can't even call service and ur a life saver. Cheers

Thanks for the video. I had this issue after reassembling an old MHC-GNX800 after fixing a different issue - turns out I plugged the ribbon cable for the tape deck the wrong way 🤦

that's great information about the tape's deck belt. I have another Sony hifi that I wanted to play tapes, but I guess after like 15 years the belt probably died, had the weird standby mode too and the tape once in won't roll

I took it the first time to Sony center NRB for repair and they said it needs a new transformer costing USD 250, that is after paying them USD 25 for consultation. One of the technician there gave the phone number of a back street technician who would fix, and that is the guy I have been paying USD 60 to repair it by changing the AC ...ha ha ..he claims.

Hi charlie,I have the same problem , cassette deck makes noise and the system goes to standby mode,I tried opening the both the side panels,saw a rubber band cable fallen off ,how to lift the top panel where the cassette deck is there,unable to pull it up,not sure which screw to unscrew!!!

I have a sony mhc-gnz77d which was working fine until yesterday afternoon.. When I turned it on in the evening the tape deck gave a weird noise and this issue arises... But this time the CD tray too keeps spinning with the tape deck motor running.. The set powers on for a few seconds and turns off with an eject message.. The tape belt seemed to be fine.. I try this method tho Recently the left speaker of this set started to give a weird spark noise when set at high volumes or when V GROOVE is turned on... I tried swapping the speaker wires at the back but the sound seems to travel with the left speaker... So I am currently using it disconnected from the main set Would you recommend me to repair this set or get a new one? Anyways like your video.. It was straight to the point and clean

Hey charlie, i have a sony music system MHC-GZR888DA, whenever i increase the volume (during music playing), whether speakers (any of them or all) are connected or not, the system goes off, and power button starts to blink red. Everything works fine if i use the system up to around volume level 12-15 (depending on the bass level), everything is correct but this. Whenever i increase the volume beyond this range system goes off. Do you have any idea whats going on with my system? Can you help me out?
