Another camcorder demo, this time, the Sony Handycam DCR-HC42. A smaller, but top of the line camcorder from Sony.
It was the smaller, lighter version of my Sony DCR-HC85. To achieve this compact form factor, Sony did away with all of the ports on the camera and provided them on something they called The Handycam station.
The Handycam Station has the I.Link (Firewire), A/V out, USB out, a switch to turn USB input on and off and the port for the power adapter to charge batteries. The camera does have a redundant A/V port and a LANC jack for a tripod or an external editor.
It was convenient if you wanted to keep The Handycam Station hooked up to your TV, PC, or Mac. The bad news was you had to take it with you if you wanted to see your raw video in the field and didn't have an external battery charger.
This demo is functionally the same as the DCR-HC85 save for the additional mention of The Handycam station, and the fact that this demo actually recorded the input from the lens.
