@@angelisone For these kinds of cheap old cameras, i'm just going to try this and see how it works. Maybe an inexpensive IR filter on the lens to start it off. It's just that there's so much information on this topic and it's a bit bewildering, since it's all theory and internet opinions at this point. But if you can, could you (roughly) explain the effects of 720nm filter, for example in comparison to this picture @ 16:09. Are we talking more color information popping through, deeper tonalities, deeper saturation possibly? Thanks.

Ville Mononen, you can't get image from 16:09 right out of the camera. It needs Adobe Photoshop or any software that can convert Color Channels. You need to buy an IR Passing Filter of 720nm or higher. 1. Placed in front of Sensor = shoot like a regular camera but on IR 2. Placed in front of Lens w/o Bandpass Filter remove = long shutters But if you placed Clear "nm" Filter with correct wavelength on sensor, then you will need Bandpass Filter on the lenses for normal shooting. And a IR Bandpass Filter for IR images. You, I and the world CAN NOT see through the IR Filter. To us human, we see it as total darkness. That is the reason why many photographers show their IR images with no people, animals /or no wind blowing. My ATG Gold Phantom A7s III IR and ATG Gold Phantom A7r III IR can shoot like a regular camera, where many photographers can not use flashes. Because when my flashes & strobes go off, no one will be able to see the flash/strobe go off or come on. And what I mainly got these modified by ATG was for IR images in HSS and see Live-View or take pictures in total darkness. ATG gaves classes on IR Seminars and they were well worth it. I had hand on & install IR filter on cell phone. You should try IR on cell phone that has a camera. Used one is really cheap. @@angelisone I'll do the sensor modification and first try with the screw-on filter of 720nm / 850nm. If i like, it'll get a higher resolution camera eventually and convert that internally. We'll see. I buy and sell many mirrorless cameras frequently, i'll dabble with them rather than with phones. Thanks for the suggestions, but i live outside of USA.

Ville Mononen, you can always check to see if your digital camera is sensitive to IR by using a remote control from the TV or VCR. Aim the remote toward the camera & press any button. And look into the camera's EVF/LCD, if you see a flashing LED from the viewfinder/LCD the brightest. Then use that camera.

You can refer this video at 16:02, mostly color change to white, only left sky color. But IR photo need to Photoshop after take photo. May you need refer other guy's video study how to edit it.

Strictly speaking. Yes, we need to adjust CMOS plane due to we remove low pass filter that will cause flange back distance be changed. Also you can find someone suggestion attach a clear dummy glass for keep same flange back distance. But, I need to say. your lens of focus range can cover this shift. If unlucky, your lens can't get focus appropriate, you need to "add" a sheet for adjust CMOS plane or add a dummy glass.

You would add a little shim before putting on the IR filter in the front of the sensor. Since all NEX are beginner cameras with beginner lenses (slow F-Stop), the DOF are wide. You don't need adjustment when shooting F5.6 of higher.

Yes, I think the "golden pieces" are related to sensor distance to lens mount, and adjustment image uneven. so I suggest you should attach these parts.

You would have to do a white balance shot based on sunny day on green grass. Without it, all images will be reddish color. ATG has done that to prevent amateurs to discourage many from going into & compete with pros. You would need to swap the Red Channel & Blue Channel around in Photoshop.

In theory, you should add a dummy glass for compensations focus shift. But, I don't have any issue in actual use that for your reference. Thanks.

No, I don't have that!!

The title should have said, "How to remove the Bandpass Filter." You didn't put in the IR Blocking Filter. And there are no way that you can get images like showing without using Photoshop. Did you know that your camera can now see in total darkness? My ATG A7s III and A7r IIII can see in total darkness. And able to shoot with high shutter speed & F-Stop above F8.0. At the same time they both can shoot HSS without interrupting indoor players /or at weddings. Nice jobs, Leff Tseng.

Thanks for your recommendation. I will modify titles as your suggestion. Yes, I don't put the IR filter on the sensor directly, but you can put circle IR filter in front of the lens and you can change IR filter by you want, maybe 720nm ,760nm or 860nm ...... thanks again for share your experience.

Over all they are the same. But the sensor & FPS are more on 5T.

@@jamesstudioanimation9410 I guess this should be the switch damaged, you can try to break down the camera and find what problem. Refer to video at 1:28, you can see the power on/off switch with a metal shrapnel, maybe here or relative button. try to bending the shrapnel or clean the button. I hope this is work for you.
