Cleaning the optical drive is not enough, sometimes it could be the tray motor or the belt. But even if you have replaced the belt and are still having issues then most likely the tray motor is dying in which case you need to either find an entire optical drive or the little motor inside it.

Best instructions ever I was doing my refurbs a different way but imma try your way just went and spent £50 on supplies lol

Umm, when you put everything back together and turned the PS2 back on (after all the cleaning), the "screen dot" in the menu screen was still not moving. Did you check the clock battery again to see if it was either in backwards or was possibly another dead battery? Non-animated dots on the menu screen are always a non-working clock battery.

No new thermal paste or pads?

I've got one question I just restored my PS2 and when I plugged everything in a green light just popped up my discs aren't reading is there something I'm doing wrong

hello, I have a problem with my ps2 .. when I insert a disc, the laser normally moves up and down, but the cd/dvd only rotates a little and then stops and you can just see the laser trying to catch somewhere .. don't you know what to do with it please?

I was almost done putting it back together and the plastic connector that clamps down to the ribbon on the mainboard Broke off. Now I have no way to secure the ribbon. FML

😂.❤.

My PS2 only starts with the disc tray open otherwise don't start the software. :(
