This is Part 2 of some test footage I've shot. All of the footage in this test was shot with a custom Scene File I'm working on and has not been graded, except for a couple of minor exposure adjustments in Premiere.

I never knew that the image coming from a camcorder can be this good, the detail is amazing, i think its better than the larger hybrid camera.

About half of this footage was shot side-by-side with the Z190 at the same time so I could compare them. One of these days I will post a split screen video showing both cameras.

Unfortunately I don't really have anyplace where I want to shoot indoor video for public consumption. I rate the Z280 at IS0 2000 in the default mode and at ISO 2500 with some tweaking to the paint menus. Those are actual numbers not based on a manufacturer's claims, so that should give you a good idea of how the camera will perform in low light even without seeing footage.

Hi Doug, I'm trying to figure out what the differences are in look between this and Sony's cinema line cameras (FX3, FX6 etc.). To me, this camera has a substantially different look in terms of sharpness, clarity and colour, instantly recognisable as a "broadcast" type look. Would you say that is due to the different chips in each camera?

I would it is due to many factors, but there are three big ones: 1) Smaller sensors so depth-of-field and bokeh are totally different. 2) Different types of lens from what are used on cinema cameras. 3) Different paint menu choices and base looks for a different style of production. The ENG cameras and cinema cameras are intended for completely different types of needs.

Sony PXW-Z280 is capable of shooting by high-speed mode? 0.51, how did you shoot?

Sorry, 'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how I shot the time-lapse shot of the clouds at 00:51? If so, the Z280 has a very easy to use interval recording mode. You just turn it on and press record. No processing in post is necessary. If I have misunderstood your question please ask again.

Hi Doug will this camera be suitable for shooting a Rock band indoors I am currently using a Canon XHA1s and wish to upgrade to 4k I am Toying between this and the Z190 thanks in advance

Yes, the Z280 would be an excellent camera for shooting indoor concerts. The Z190 doesn't do every well in low-light, so I would steer you towards the Z280.

I am using mpeg 4:2:0 just having hard times to set up proper pic profile and I get green faces or red image. Any advice?

Jorde, there are so many things that you might be doing wrong it is hard to identify what the cause could be with such little information. Green faces and red images sound like white balance problems that would be totally unrelated to the codec. All codecs on the Z280 look good and are unrelated to the look of the picture. Have you watched my Master Class that teaches you how to adjust the paint menus, choose a codec, and set the white balance properly? vimeo.com/ondemand/z280
