A 200% increase means 200% of the original value on top. So the end result would be more like 3000 nits. What you mean is a 100% increase or 200% of the brightness of the previous model.
@@luke8324you're right to a degree, but when it's used in marketing it's gibberish because it's not accurate to real world results. Just like the 1ms response times on monitors outside of OLED.
I always think people should say "2x the original" or "half the original" because saying "increase" or "decrease" usually leads to mistakes. And even if you don't make a mistake people will invariably interpret what you said incorrectly anyway.
In these reviews it would be useful to know the speed of the LAN ports on the TV (and streaming boxes, etc.). Streaming 4k modern files can peak above 100Mb/s which a lot of these TVs still have for a LAN port.
Sony TVs are still fantastic. I just grabbed a 2021 OLED model on sale, and I've been impressed. Excellent sound, surprisingly high brightness, close to zero input lag, and implausibly low reflectivity. Seriously, even against a window in bright daylight, I can hardly see any reflections in the screen at all.
Exactly.. this was my biggest problem 😂… I have the 65A90J… but I had to get a usb to Ethernet adapter.. cuz I have my tv directly hooked up to my router..just to take advantage of my 1gb FIOS.. I don’t understand why they still have these old azz network cards on these TV’s.. guess I’ll wait for reviews to find out
Probably. If they include Wifi 6 there's no reason for them to swap to a gig NIC. It has been around since 1998 and we have yet to get TVs with that included.
Cable/Antenna is VERY good to have in a pinch. Like when your cable/satellite goes out due to weather, or you use satellite internet and it goes out too; and you can see still what your local channels are saying about the storm without using your cell data.
Any plans on checking out the Sony WH-CH720N wireless headphones? It looks like they have the potential to outperform their price segment with ANC and decent sound quality. I also like how they replaced the touch controls with physical buttons.
that's a $150 pair of headphones ... I guess when you talked about outperforming their price segment, I expected the price to be more affordable ... Sure, for americans, $150 is not much, but for many other countries, $150 is premium headphones.
@@funkysmokee8764 They're "cheap" compared to the WH-1000XM5, which are what I'd call premium headphones. Decent wireless headphones with ANC are expensive in general.
3000 nits but at what percent window? OLEDs are suffering on 100% window brightness. For example Sony A95K has 980 nits brightness at 2% window but 190 nits brigtness at 100% window.
my biggest problem with looking for a new tv is checking if they put ads in the software and i feel any tv review should also review the software i get your getting a guided tour and the tech is super cool but turning on my tv to a random ad makes me want to punch a hole in any tv but i guess i dont even know if these are "smart" tvs
It depends on how techy you are. You can use a raspberry pi as your networks ad blocker (what I do.) Then you just enter in certain address and that Pi will block all that incoming traffic.
I thought Volta was removed as a sponsor, better go check on this. I had some issues with their products, non acceptance of returns and refunds. Could be a one off. Back to the video to enjoy some amazing TVs! That I won't get for at least 10 years.
Is Volta their replacement sponsor to Anker? I found it funny the product was called the Volta Anchor. Also, I thought the replacement sponsor was Ugreen.
@@ZacDonald hard to know, I can't say my experience means I should shun them, but it was a pretty odd situation. Their CEO from London was communicating, that was odd. But perhaps they're not as bad as my experience was. Haven't checked yet, will look later... too much work and too little sleep.
Most important question for me, does this TVs have Gigabit-LAN? I need to use a f*ing USB-Adapter for my high priced LG TV because they go cheap and save some cents to use a 100Mbit LAN instead of 1Gbit.
LEDs are still goin according to Sony apparently. IPS and VA are good to me, however TNs no matter what, will suck bad. I have a Satellite L305-s5955 laptop with a browny lookin 1280x800 screen that oddly enough makes analog old films like Nausicaa (Bluray to WMVHD conversion) look amazing and nostalgic to look at??? Yeah, apparently terribly old LCDs had benefits in similar ways CRTs have.
All 4 of those hdmi ports on the first TV should be the same hdmi 2.1 idk why the always gave to gimp some of the ports or only have some high quality ports
If you look closer, this applies to all Android based smart TVs. Sony isn’t to blame here (or TCL, Phillips, etc.) but rather MediaTek, who makes the CPUs. They keep making “new” CPUs with limited ports.
So why did they make the eARC port one of the only 4k 120Hz ports? If you've got a PS5 and Xbox Series X, how do you plug both of them in and also use a soundbar/receiver?
You simply can't, unless you use a splitter or some other kind of work around. But you can't do it naturally. Others have commented here that the reason Sony's tvs don't have all 4 ports being HDMI 2.1 is because they (and a few other manufacturers) use the SoC/main chip from MediaTek who is the one who keeps making new chips with the 2 HDMI 2.1 port limit. However, Samsung and LG both make their own chips, so they have control/choice to make it so theirs have all 4 ports being HDMI 2.1.
I just love Sony’s image processing. Their colors have always been unique when compared to the likes of Samsung and LG. Only negative, Sony TVs are mad expensive - main reason I buy Samsung/LG
The value of mid range TV's is great now. I've been wanting to purchase a monitor for my PC, but prices even on 1440p units with high refresh rates is expensive. So I found that most of the newer TV's support 4K 120hz, and I bought a 55" Hisense for $500. It is now my dedicated gaming monitor and I love it. 😃 The Vizio MQX50 even supports 1080p up to 240hz.
2:35 You mean getting a variety of television for free? Watching sports for free? Watching the news for free? AND SO ON? Yes, Yes I will use my fucking antenna in 2023
Antenna input is great for over the air HD TV. If you're in a place like Toronto, you can pickup HD TV Channels from the CN Tower and from buffalo with an antenna. Cheaper then cable TV.
Whoa I thought that the Bravia S-Center proprietary jack was the only option for center speaker on these TVs, I literally gasped when I saw the classic speaker wire connections on the A95L. I guess that's only on the really high end Bravias?
All these new TVs are awesome, but these high-end ones are too expensive. Would love coverage of the mid-range ones that provide the features we gamers want at prices that are more reasonable.
shrinking the screen down to say 27in is a pretty cool feature if you described it right. I didn't see that on the Sony lineup announcement video. That's a pretty unique feature if it works right. Being able to use your main tv as an esports monitor in a pinch or for whatever reason is always nice to have available.
It's a super random use case. But as someone with my tv in my bedroom. A feature like that would be cool cause sometimes i game from the other side of the room from my desk/chair. And sometimes i game sitting on the edge of my bed which is just 3 or 4 feet from where my tv sits. When i play that close, if the tv is too big, then it makes it tough to look at the peripheral view area or sometimes can be irritating for my eyes. So this feature would be uniquely useful for me to be able to play sitting on the edge of my bed and scale the "screen" down to be say 27 or 32 inch.
1:20 I think I saw this one in person, playing that exact same video. I'm not exxagerating when I say it looked like the video had depth, like the buildings were actually in different planes from each other and not on just a flat screen. truly mind blowing
@@shadowarez1337 the lag/stutter you see in videos of such displays like tvs or monitors is just a result of the different framerates the camera records at vs. that of the display ^^. Bc of this there are even extra modes in some cameras, where it automatically matches the framerate of displays/artificial lights, so everything is smooth and a more real representation of the thing you're recording.
@@kool3771TV refresh rate -> camera shutter speed/recording fps -> editing fps (if it is different) -> RU-vid playback fps -> your own monitor Multiple steps that can separate it from the in person experience fr
2:36 my dad has an antenna hooked up to his LG OLED. He finally cancelled cable. The image quality is better with the antenna and he gets more channels. I think it’s an underrated thing in 2023
Glad someone said it. Dismissing OTA with the costs of cable and streaming rising is asinine. ATSC 3.0 is allowing up to 2160p, add an HDHomerun to your network and your prime.
I have been telling friends/family that it's either Sony or LG that are worth buying. Sony has always been the top dog and LG is the more "value" option if you get QNED or top end LED "Nano Cell"
@@orbitalalpha Will they? Doesn't Sony use Android TV? I don't have any ads on my Android TV Now I have heard bad things about Samsung's Tizen OS and ads/intrusive Samsung apps
if this video is representative of the products Sony probably should have never put them for sale. the demo of video on the first one was lagging bad. the audio on the others sound sounded so bad on my old samsung monitor speakers that I would have returned it as soon as I heard it(I know that my monitor normally handles that type of thing much better) I couldn't understand a single word. I was also disappointed by the lack of smaller options being shown.
Would like to see a option for a "one connect box" like on the samsung tv's just because I like a connections on the right side of the tv because of my setup so I wouldn't have to change everything around. I think it should be a standard
I wish TV makers would make HDMI ports on the right hand side of the tv as well. Most PC cases has the internals showing on the left hand side of the case so you would have to put your tower on the right hand side of the desk. It's just another hassle buying a longer HDMI cable and cable managing it.
Sony has some amazing OLED panels and I'm always jealous because of it and because it's expensive , like LG does. I have a 2022 LG OLED model and its not perfect but it's the best thing bought when it was on sell.
With the amount Sony charges for their TVs compared to Samsung and LG, there is absolutely no justifying not having all four HDMI 2.1 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port. You can't charge that high a premium and skimp on must-have features. Also, hearing 200% increase over and over hurt. Doubling is a 100% increase. 100% original + 100% increase = 200% (double) of original.
Just upgraded from a onn tv to a Bravia x85k. Feel like I stepped into the future. Few more years and I'll upgrade to a c2. Hard to find stuff in 43 inch
I have experience with a 90J and then the replacement the 90K. I think they were both great going from 1080p or a cheap 4k. Yeah you can see some blooming in all black screens with white text but in normal watching it is barely noticeable. Went with the Sony because of its ability to show low res content and its color. They seem to be the easiest to get a good picture.
@@SonyEnthusiast yep. Got it in like 2018 for $170 at Walmart. 4k 60hz and would support down to 240p. Was a big change from my 720p 32 inch. I never really noticed how bad it was until recently. Was playing hitman and the trails on bright backgrounds were unbearable. X85K isn't the best of the best, but it supports everything I need for my series x. Colors absolutely pop out of the screen. Makes me giggle using a Sony tv with an Xbox.
The ideia is that your sound system should be used as a hub in this case, but little to none sound systems have HDMI 2.1 full spec support as hub. So it is truly loosing half your 2.1 ports for 99% of the people.
@@pedro4205 what device are you using at 4k, 12bit, 120Hz, 4:4:4 that uses 48Gb/s? None of the console do. Most high end AVR will offer upgrade boards when 8k is standard.
@@Nothinglastsforever Well, I mean if you have more than one next-gen console and/or a gaming PC as well as a sound system, you'll run out of HDMI 2.1 ports.
@@eruannster if you can afford these TV's you can simply use a high-end AVR with pass through for your two consoles that do not require 48Gb/s (xbox 40Gb/s and Sony 32Gb/s) and and use the remaining full bandwidth port for your PC.
@@Nothinglastsforever And yet still most AVRs don't support 4K120 and VRR, so that doesn't fully solve it. It's silly that I/O is holding back a high-end TV at these prices when Samsung and LG don't have this problem and can have 4 full speed HDMI ports because they aren't relying on the inferior Mediatek SoC.
Normally love the content, but a fair few mistakes with this one which isn’t ideal - a said increase of 200% when actually in an increase of 100% for number of nits, and the 93/83 issues… Also, 2 hdmi 2.1 ports being more than enough - I know a fair few people with a soundbar and 2 current gen consoles and only 2.1 hdmi ports is massively limiting. You guys churn out so much but the QC was a bit off with the script this time
Do you really expect fair and balanced content when it's a marketing piece paid by Sony? This is why LTT is no longer the go to place for actual information, it's just for entertainment now.
Yeah...to be fair I wonder why it's always with Sony, Samsung and a certain two or three companies that they suck up so much. They speak about doing high quality videos, maybe production value is up but content value is dropping down quite a lot.
Yep. I use my C1 as a monitor and my main TV, and have been considering switching to QD-OLED. The S95B is prone to failure, but Sony has avoided the issues while using the same panel. But going with Sony, I would either have to not run a soundbar, or not have my pc and ps5 connected at the same time. That's not a compromise I'm willing to make on a $4,000+ tv
To me OLED and its variants still have a long way to go until they would be good enough. Burnout and image retention are still there(no matter how much manufactures want us to think its solved), it is mitigated a bit but not solved. And I don't understand why people want extreme brightness, on one of my monitors I had to do extra tweaks because brightness at minimum was too much even at daytime.
Your comment is ridiculous, OLED is mature technology. I'm typing this on an LG OLED55B6P I bought in 2016. It came out of the living room and has been my monitor for almost 5 years. There's no signs of burn in. I'd be happy to send this TV to anyone who wanted to use it as an example in an OLED burn-in video. Generally people sit much further away from TVs than they do monitors. It's not really fair to compare a 2500 nit 65" TV you sit 6-8ft away from in a bright room to a 24" LCD monitor you sit 18" away from in your mom's dark basement... The only possible criticism of OLED is the price, I suspect thats your main reason for complaining. However, that's easy to get around... buy last year's model. It's come a long way since I bought my first OLED in 2016.
Can you help me with tech problem. After installing my new TV (Sony XR75X90L) the sound doesn’t work thru my existing surround sound. The sound works for the cable channels, but the no sounds thru streaming service (NETFLIX) thru surround sound (the sound work thru TV speakers) My receivers is a Yamaha RX-V863 from 2009.
I'd really like to see Sony making something similar to Samsung's Frame tv it looks great and with qdoled and Sony's processing it'd look awesome 🔥 Also I hope this qdoled tech gets more easier to produce and better so it can get cheaper, I want to buy one too!
it's great to see TVs that doesn't have LG's truly terrible WebOS (the 1st thing to do after buying any LG is to get an Apple TV or Roku box to bypass WebOS).
I really hope they are finally giving the 90L the dimming zones it needs to compete with the likes of Samsung and LG, let alone the likes of TCL and Hisense.
For the love of GOD when are they going to put at least 6 HDMI ports on one of these several thousand dollar TVs? It’s so annoying to have to use a separate HDMI box with a separate remote control to switch between inputs on my OLED. I have an Apple TV, PS5, XSX, Switch, SNES Classic and NES Classic hooked up to mine.
Blooming, to me, is like getting a peak behind the curtain for tv’s, which always tarnishes the viewing experience for me. You’re seeing something the the wizards don’t want you to see, but it’s unavoidable with LED’s. It may not be as bright, but OLED all the way for me. I never knew what watching tv was until I saw perfect contrast.
If im interested in getting the A95L for a Gaming Monitor / RU-vid Screen basically treating this tv as a large Computer monitor. Will i have to worry about the images being Burned-in?
No split sreen capability on the x95j ? I didnt think so. How do you have an over sight THAT BIG on your top end model ? someone at sony needs a good beaten
This never gets as much attention, but I kinda wish you went over their X80L. This year, the X80K had incredible picture for an LED tv and I'd argue, was par with the TCL MiniLED for value
I just bought a 55" X90k a couple months ago. I love it, its perfect for me. OLED is cool and it looks amazing but it's way more expensive, it's still not the best for any room that gets sunlight, and I can't get past the burn in risk.
I've got an LG CX 55" OLED and it kicks ass. Had it for like 3 years now, I use it as my gaming PC monitor + TV and still haven't had any image retention whatsoever. Plus it was only like $1299 which wasn't bad at all especially at the time. The new C2 series is even better looking, brighter, and has the same pricing scheme. Now that I've experienced OLED, I can't go back. The perfect contrast/blacks is such a game changer for enjoying content
Great title. That’s true Credit where it’s due. This line up is far better then others. Love Sony, always click to find out what they are up to. Great detail reporting. Liked 👍🏼
