aibo is meant to be a dog for people who can't have dogs. like people who are too old to manage it, or can't afford it, or live in a place where it simply isn't an option, aibo can be a great alternative.

This isn't a robotic dog. Its a robot in the shape of a dog. Dogs are the greatest creatures on this planet and the only proof of God that I'm willing to accept.

Some elderly people or people with disability's cannot own a Real Dog and some People cannot afford to pay thousands of Dollars on Dogs. My Sister doesn't have a dog anymore cause it brutally killed by something in the backyard and is too much a heart break to want to own a real dog. Also.. Yes I have had friends who spend well over $3,000 in a year on just a puppy dog. Especially if the dog becomes seriously sick. So yeah Robots Win Sadly.

I found out about this a few months ago and I’m definitely gonna get one. Way cheaper than the Maltese I wanted plus u don’t have to buy food, pay for grooming, vet bills etc. Also better for people that are ESPECIALLY in an apartment. When I move I don’t need to pay to deep clean an apartment or pay for pet deposit and pet rent.

Mind you, if you can't keep a pet where you live, a robot might make a good substitute😁

Aibo wasn't made to replace to replace real dogs. It was made for people who can't get a dog due to medical or housing conditions.

You cant erase a real dogs memory if things go wrong and start over. The Aibo is just a way to expensive toy where the real dog is a living being.

Why most people get a pet is affection and companionship. My dog knows when I am happy or sad, she comes to me to be petted when I am sad. My dog alerts me when someone is on my property and doesn't have to be "hooked up" to electricity to keep on, keeping on. He said it in the video, one is a "toy" the other is a companion.

I believe sometime in the future it will be possible to simulate exactly how Lola the puppy acts but in a robotic canine. With Boston dynamics excelling with balance and quadrupedal locomotion (and other advances in tech), I’m sure it’s not too far away now to see what was thought as sci-fi to come to life. ( also don’t forget Disney’s highly realistic robot of an avatar which has incredible life like facial motions and upper body motions.)

I´m fascinated by Aibo but it´s a pretty expensive toy and i guess its lifespan is much shorter than the puppy´s.

Basically if you're not willing to put in the 23k to care for Lola for life, get Aibo.

Humans overlay feelings and love onto anything they see, even real puppies, while the puppys sole purpose in life is to eat food and sleep. A dog will give you hints of respect or the slightest feeling of companionship, but it's really you who are tricked into thinking the dog is full of love and happiness. The dog is instinctive, it doesn't care what happens in the real world, or if you get hit by a bus. The robot dog also does not care. But for now, real dogs are very agile and fun to play with.
