As an audio engineer it's hard for me to be satisfied with any home speaker because I subconsciously find myself comparing them to full setups (which I have to stop myself from doing). Surprisingly, the srsxb12 is completely satisfactory for me as a carry around the house speaker...I bought two to put on either end of the house lol. It's also super cheap. I said all that to say it's weird for me (coming from a professional audio standpoint) to really give jbl the high ground but after watching a few of your videos I will say that as far as home speakers go they have that area covered better than most... not so much in professional quality though lol...I will never miss an opportunity to call them Junk But Loud lmao

Which one was louder? Did you tune the Sony to pump up the highs and deepen the bass? Typicaly sony’s sound flat out of the box but they have much more in them..!

I love my 2 JBL boomboxes which I got after your first review of them. the bass stays nice and clean even at almost max volume

Es de tomar en cuenta los códec que estamos acostumbrados a usar en dispositivos Bluetooth. ¿Por qué los dispositivos Sony tienen un sonido más claro y nítido? Por el códec de bluetooth LDAC que permite una reproducción en bluetooth de alta fidelidad, de alta calidad. En cambio JBL con el Boombox 2 solo permite el códec SBC que no es malo pero solo permite hasta 328 kbps, mucho menos que un CD convencional. Pero eso no quiere decir que el sonido del JBL sea malo, NO. Al contrario es potente y eso lo compensa. Mi comentario va hacia las personas que quieren saber porque el sonido es diferente. Es por los códec de audio que utilizan las diferentes bocinas bluetooth, o los códec de audio que permite tu teléfono Android o dispositivo de reproducción.

$170 on eBay refurbished. Which in my experience buying refurbished electronics. They have always come in like new condition.

I know this videos a year old but I was trying to decide between the 2. I was leaning towards the Sony only because they have refurbished ones for $169. The jbl costs way more.

I hope they're better than those Sony SRS 5000, that was a burning pile heap.

I love the Sony xp700 got it and it's amazing even better when plugged in to the mains unlike the JBL it keeps its clarity even at full volume the JBL is a great speaker what me and my friend found is JBL at full volume gets a bit disappointing

the boombox has clearer Hights but does some have better bass ? especially at lower volumes and on bass boost.

Floss, I can definitely agree in your siding with the Boombox 2 over the Sony. However, I have two of the original boomboxes and I can't see a $200 difference with the new ones. As usual, your reviews are excellent.

Is it possible to adjust eq settings through phone app, but play off of aux source? For instance I only want low bass frequency coming from the Sony speaker.

So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.

Paying a premium for the name. Only names i go with i can trust are denon and technics(audio technica) and gladly pay for a quality product and not just a name so no i dont think its worth that price at all

Why didn’t u test the 2 of them with mega bass turned on??

I have had both speakers, personally I prefer sony just because of the customization they give you. I picked mine up for $300 flat, which I thought was a great price.

Sony Megabass is even OFF. Try with the bass on . It makes a difference . I tried both in a store and both are similar

JBL sounds tinny in the mids and highs. The bass is over stated. Sony is well rounded and balanced. The bass is not in your face and over powering but definitely on point😉

Sony seems more integrated in terms of lighting additions, ports, fast charging, and a large battery. I personally tend to buy a Sony speaker. The price is very reasonable. I got it for $350.

I agree feels like 350-399 would be a good price point. Crazy how some Sony stuff is slamming and others are just not good lol this is a solid offering it seems like tho.

Both of this are Only Good for Indoor, their bass both dissapear when you try to use it on Open space like Park.. i still go with Partybox100 so the bass wont dissapear even at high volume

The jbl hi ust sound high pitched with bass, the Sony has a more balanced signature though

there's too many variables. you didn't have the megabass feature enabled on Sony and couldn't access the LDAC codec because you're using iPhone.

Hey Flossy, Does how many wats a blue tooth speaker has, determine how much base it has? Some friends say yes, some say no. What do you say? I was surprised to find out that the JVC I had back in 1990 had only 40 wats, and it could rock my bedroom. The thing I don't know now is, does it take more wats now to rock a room? How does the Bumpbox Boom box’s sound compared to these Boomboxes? Their all around the same price but to me the Bumpbox has more to offer, looks bigger and has better designs for the price.

2 headphones and the tablet speakers and JBL has better bass as you said but the overall sound quality and balance sounds better on Sony with every equipment that I got.

Flossy..I like your reviews..the sony will play MP3 off a usb stick..fast charge..great battery life..adjust the equalizer for a base..open box off amazon $266..ebay has them also around $210..all in all I would say the soney is better..anywho thanks..I value your opinion

Yo man I was waiting for this video!.... I actually bought both of these speakers and the Black Monster Blaster Super Star.... But the Monster need not even apply here!.... I too agree that the JBL is hittin harder! I am one to believe that BOTH of these speakers are over priced for what they offer tho. As high as the Sony is.... The JBL sounds about $50 better.... Out in the open neither of em are overwhelming. But once again I agree wit cha OG.... Imma keep rockin wit the JBL! Thanks for your vids bro!

Odd they would price it the same as the massive Sony SRS-XP700 speaker. The XG500 should be a $300-$350 speaker SRS-XP700 is significantly louder than either of these two speakers at $450 but not very portable weighing in at 37lb.

With a thirdparty EQ The sony sounds bateria than The jbl i tested that and The app is amazing... if you put an usb memory în The sony all you songs appear on youre phone and you can change them as you like... Jbl doesent do that.... and The battery îs very good and IT tells you how much battery you have when you start it and when youre at 20%... and on The app you can se în real Time how much battery you have and how many hours Will play AT that volume so îs înșine , jbl doesent do that...oh and I payed 290$ NEW and The jbl was 490$ and flossy didnt even turn on The megabass and that makes a huge difference.

Before Floss said anything I heard the sound quality already! Definitely heard the clarity on through my Sony soundbar even! Lol
