There was what seemed like a thermal tape on the northbridge chip. You should've taken it off and cleaned the surface before applying thermal paste on the chip.

The difference between these CPUs is not too high, I think that x9000 is better upgrade option for this laptop and performance gain will be higher with it

Is the bios R1150J9 of oct 2007 the last update, or from where i can download the last? This laptop blow up games of 2009 and 2010. And I use it to browse videos plus surfing on internet. Its amazing that it can run the videos on 1080p. Although of the graphic x3100.
