notes:
the motherboard has little tiny plastic tabs near the front edge that hold the motherboard so it was slightly hard to remove.

I have an old sony vaio 17'' laptop (VGN-AR51SU) and I want to upgrade the componets.. The motherboard that this laptop has has an old socket so I cant put a new cpu and I want to buy a new motherboard... If I get a smaller one (from a 15.6'' laptop) so Im sure it will fit in will It have any problems? Or it will work normally?

Kwtrader 2 yea but a 15,6 inch is smaller so it should fit.. I have to search the dimensions but if it fits.. will it work? I may need some cables cuz ports may be in a different positions butt ok..

i'm not that familiar with sony laptops since i don't get them much. but i know that in general lots of things could be different keyboard connector could be different/lcd connector could be different, ports in different locations. dvd drive/battery/hard drive connectors don't line up etc.... so it might not work.

it's a netbook, but yeah, it's pretty slow. It came with 1gb ram and an hdd, i upgraded the hdd to an ssd and upgraded ram to 2gb and then but peppermint os on it instead of windows and it's still pretty slow. It means even for 2010 it was a slow computer.
