I am a person who works from home and i see that the CH720N are perfect for me i would only use them at home because when i go out i always take the Linkbuds S with me, they are more discreet and for the price i think they are good since the price of the XM4 is very high. Awesome video bro!
Thanks man! Definitely agree with you, I also am a fan of using over the ear at home and then using my AirPods for on the go since they are more portable and easier to carry around as well.
Solid review. Have been using the CH720N since 12/24/23 and they are excellent for the lightweight, sound quality, and ANC. Found a hard case on Amazon for $7.99 so the non-folding is not a deal breaker. Build quality is more plastic so I am a bit gentler when using; overall, definitely not bad as I found them in a TJ Maxx for $79.99. Thx for sharing!
That's a steal for that price! Definitely a great budget headphone set and better than others at that price point for me. You get a similar sound profile to the XM4's & XM5's for a third of the price
Getting 720N soon, I wan't something affordable that when I accidentally break it, I can confidently buy another one. Compared to getting the flagships and if I break them I am F'ed haha
Hahaha I definitely get that! I have some headphones dedicated to working out since technically no headphones is "water-proof" or "sweat-proof" and I don't want to ruin my XM5's on a workout
They sound really good, they don't have the best frequency responce, BUT their tuning is SUPER fun. Like, if you're not an audiophile, you WILL be satisfied with these Sony headphones. I was honestly shocked at how good much more I enjoyed listening to music with these in comparison to my Audio Technica M50X. Go listen to them in store if it's possible.
@@nerdgrafx Hello mate, do xb910 or ult wear have a better sound quality than ch720n and closer to xm4??? If I neutralize the bass in the app? as I have a bit of budget to spare if I get an almost xm4 level quality with sound anc etc and are they worth paying about 50$ extra if I dont necessarily want the bass but having an option of it would be nice, but I mainly get upgrade of ldac support??
I got it for $99, pretty good deal for the quality of this product ! I think the ANC is not as strong as I wanted, but honestly it is perfect for the price
Wow! At that price, this is a steal. The sound is good and like you said the ANC is not super strong, but if you're also playing music it "boosts" it in way if that makes sense
Oh my god... thank you so much, I'm so sick of hearing reviewers worshipping touch controls. I used the XM4 for a year and HATED that I was always accidentally grazing the cup and skipping tracks or pausing. Now that I've switched I can't even loan my XM4s to friends/family. How the heck you supposed to explain to your grandma that she needs to stroke and tickle the headphones to make them work?
i have heard the new sony CH720 has a 30 mm driver size compared to the sony WH XM4 has a 40 mm driver ....so that is also a con in my opinion.... on .the contrary wh xm4 has a neat fold option with carry case.....nice comparison 👍
I have not tried the 350BT, but it looks like they do not come with ANC if that is something you are looking for. The Sony's also sound similar to the XM4's if those are headphones you have looked at before
I bought a 720N yesterday for just €40 second hand brand new and never used from someone. And i must say i'm more then happy with it. Its a huge upgrade compared with my previous Sony headphones a WH-CH510. Wich i have used for 3 years as my daily headphones also at the gym. What i like the most about my new 720N is, it's an complete over ear headphones, so it's more comfortable when wearing it. I can adjust the sound with the Sony Headphones app and even create personal EQ's. And of course the sound is so much better. Another reason is the more expensive 1000XM4 and 5 are also not weather sealed for use in the rain. Then why spending so much more money if the 720N has all i need?
That's true! I will always recommend getting the more budget friendly device if it still works the same and has 95% the quality of the more expensive one
What is the difference in sound quality, is the XM4 much better in sound quality or is it hardly noticeable...here in Holland the CH720 is 96 euro and the XM4 is 245..a big difference in price
The difference in sound isn't all that different, I would say the CH720's give you 90% of the sound quality of the XM4s. For something with that large cost difference, I would go with the CH720s.
The 720Ns are more lightweight than the XM4's and that makes them less hot. But if it's super humid, I would look towards in ear headphones instead. Both of these along with most over the ear headphones will be a bit more humid overall than in ear headphones.
I have been waffling on these verses a pair that is half the price because the build quality is so poor. I can't believe that even at this price point -on sale they were still $150 Canadian -there's no padding inside the ear cup. It's basically the thinnest piece of foam that's between your ear and the hardware. And if you're someone who doesn't have very indented ears - it's going to be pressing up against the folds of your ear in an uncomfortable way. Also I find the external buttons very challenging because there's not a lot of tactile difference between them and it's easy to press the pause instead of the volume down button constantly
Is the weight difference very noticeable when doing workouts with the 720N compared to the XM4? I have the XM4 and I use them for running and walking, but I'm not sure if it's worth buying the 720N. Cheers mate
Yeah I think the weight difference was definitely noticeable. When using the XM4s to workout, I always overheat, but with the 720’s I didn’t really experience that issue
Sturdy and light. I ran a half marathon in them. This Sunday I might see if I can go a full 26.2 for the San Francisco Marathon. I have to get away from ear buds. They were always falling out and replacing them is too much money 🤑
bro i need an opinion, I'm getting xm4 for 130$( open box not used) but warranty is only left for 6 months new one costs 260$. i checked them and they look unused and they sounded so good also offered a perfect fit for my head and ears. I'm just skeptical between 720N that I'm getting for 74 dollars ( new )......is paying 60 dollars more for xm4 ( open box /second hand) is it worth it?
Hey man, I definitely think you will get 60 dollars worth of the XM4s. The noise cancellation is better than the 720N and they sound just a little bit better. If these are your one pair you’ll use for a while with no risk of gym use or anything, go for the XM4s. 130 is a great price
I can see that, they don't feel premium, but I would say even now with the XM5's they don't feel that premium either. It's a trade off for lightweight and comfortable headphones
i was curious as well about the workout and gym thing...i get nervous even if light sweating around the leather after wearing long time just doing nothing.....
Yeah they are not sweat proof and I would even say that most over the ear are not, but I haven’t had trouble with sweating, definitely could vary though
Hi are the 720N’s a smaller fit than the XM4’s? The XM4’s were too big for my head even in the smallest setting i.e not extended so I had to return them. Thanks
Sorry for the late reply, but from what I remember they were roughly the same. The earcups on the 720N are smaller, but the headband was the same size. Hope that helps!
I think this comes down to whether you like bass heavy headphones. From my experience, Sony lacks in clear bass and usually gets distorted on their CH and XM series. Haven't tried the XB series, but from some reviews I have seen, they should be way better with the bass
Oh wow, if it continues doing that, I would suggest possibly reaching out to Sony. They should not be disconnecting all the time, they might be defective.
great video, but i was rly looking for the part where you compare the ANC quality of both headphones. Did I just miss it or are they just the same quality ?
Thanks for the great review. I´ve heard that the Sony WH CH720 N head piece is made of a fragile plastic, specially on the pieces that join the drivers with the headset so it can easily break down. On the other hand, what about the ear pads material quality? For those who have been wearing them for over a year, please let me know your experience.
I haven't been using the headphones for over a year, but as for the build quality, they are pretty solid. Anything at this price point will be made of plastic which naturally feels cheaper and fragile, but as long as you're not bashing them and throwing them in and out of a bag, you'll be fine
I would say just like @fable2830 mentioned, the XANAD case looks like a good option on Amazon. There is also a Yinke brand that has a little more protection for a couple dollars more. I have added both to the description of the video. Hope that helps!
