Its not a permanent solution, its temporary. You are probably gonna have problem with it and you just giving it a few months or hell if you are lucky a year or so. You just stop the warning signal of something being wrong with the t.v. and thats it. Its like taking a pain pill getting rid of the alertness of pain and not getting the pain issue fix.

This is not recommended as all you have done is bypass the protection mode , more than likely this will cause further damage to the backlight circuit, you need to resolve the real problem which is fault leds

@@M.E63 it won’t make it worse. It’s not going to provide more voltage to the other leds. It’s just a half baked “fix”

@@NeptuneSega the voltage increases when leds fail , I repair TVs everyday and 9 times out of 10 the voltage goes higher and you run the risk of other leds failing and the backlight driver ic and the prism sheets might burn, sometimes the voltage won’t go higher but depends on how the led fails , sometimes it’s a short but sometimes it’s not , big problem is with Samsung TVs where there’s no protection mode and if a led fails then the tv continues to work and the leds run at higher voltage and hot and burn the prism sheets , that’s the good thing about Sony TVs , if there’s any fault the tv will shut down and go in protection mode and save the tv from further damage , it’s a good thing and not there to be bypassed

@@M.E63 I understand to repair properly but how can that be done if Sony discontinued led strips? I have been searching for over A year for new or used LED strips without any luck. Do you have any plugs for LED strips for A xbr75x910c? THX

I'd like to precise, my tv works 1,5 minutes and after shut down, I have 2,8 volts on pin 27 without changing until shutdown

Temporary, you arent fixing the issue with the tv but cutting off the sensor. It's like cutting off a car engine light without fixing the issue. Of course it could just be a bug if not disabling it would prevent you from knowing the actual problem.

Yeah eventually you might see some portions of the screen flickering from time to time until you get used to it.

I Don't think so. So far only this model in my experience.

Lol lose ground, its a error signal that keeps the tv from being used. What he did was bypass the error signal by disconnecting the wire thats causes the signal and put it to ground pin. Its a temporary fix, it doesnt fix the issues that plagues the tv its just turns the alert signal off. Which why most people has a black wave or some other issue or even a few more months of it working before dying.

Customer hasnt call me back yet, so I quess your probably good for awhile lol

I have a XBR65x930D that's a dead set until you pull the ribbon cable out of the led driver to the dsp board then the backlights come on. Could you tell me what the problem might be please

Any chance you know how long it'll last in this state or things to look out for? Our family had a weird small darkening of the screen affect happen after we fixed it (thanks to you) and just resetting picture settings to factory and making sure HDMI was plugged in right seems to have fixed that. Just wanted to see your thoughts! Thanks again!

I'm attempting to fix my 55x900c but i have a question. The second board didn't have the same writing to the right of the plug. It had it on the first board. When you did it did you do it from the second board like he did or the first?

Sony TVs go into protection mode if there’s a fault , the whole point of the protection mode is to prevent further damage to the tv,if you get the backlight error wire and short it to ground then it will bypass protection , it’s not recommended as a permanent fix and I use it for diagnosing purposes only , the real problem has not been fixed and the problem is faulty leds which need to be replaced , depending on what leds are faulty and how many have failed , the voltage could be high now and can cause other leds to fail or even damage the backlight driver ic or other parts of the backlight circuit , this tv may continue to work for a long time or it may cause other parts to fail soon, really depends on what the voltages are now , compared to what they should be , you can check if the backlight circuit is getting hot and if it is then it’s going to fail . you can use this method on near enough any Sony tv but this will only bypass a backlight error blink code , it won’t work if the error is something else ,but it’s not recommended to do this as a permanent fix and only for diagnosing purposes, if the screen can be removed easily then best to remove the screen and repair it, that edgelit tv is quite slim and I’m not sure if the screen is bonded in or not and if it is bonded then it’s very hard to remove , but either way this method is not recommended from a repair point of view

@@M.E63 I agree with you but how do you help the common man or woman figure it out? Sony needs to start thinking about building repairability into the design and development of their products. I would pay for a new board if that would solve the problem. Looks easy enough. I’m super frustrated with Sony on this topic, I have a great TV with weak assembly of components. My XBR-65X930D wasn’t cheap. It’s getting harder to find parts. So many people are frustrated and now people are parting them out like cars on eBay.

@@martychapman6645 if your getting a 6x blink error then replacing the board won’t make no difference , this video just shows you how to bypass the fault , after bypassing it , the fault is still there and all you done is bypass the protection mode so the tv doesn’t shut down , if you got a 6x blink error then the actual fault is the led backlight is faulty , it’s a hard repair if you’ve never done it before , you need to remove the screen and replace the led strips and replacing the board will do nothing , you’ll end up with the exact same , the tv will shut down and blink 6x , don’t even waste your money on a board if it’s a 6x blink , if you got a different blink code like 4x or 2x Then that means it’s a different fault and then it could be a faulty board, repairability of newer TVs are worse and worse , they are making it harder and harder to repair newer TVs , they are making TVs with near bezeless designs and gluing in the screens and then you got no way of removing the screen safely to replace the led strips , they should put a access panel on the chassis so you can access the led strips without removing the screen but they don’t , if you got 6x blink and you can’t get anyone to replace the led strips then maybe then the last resort it do what this video shows you , but only if it’s a 6x blink and only if you can’t fix it or get anyone to fix it , just remember only do this as a last resort

@@t0ver8y Thanks Thomas for the manual, I have xbr65x900e, i tried today but doesn't work for me, i founded cn400 pin 27 on the main board, it is a black wire and I put it with wire 26 ground...

@@t0ver8y FYI - I found Pin 27 on CN400. I clipped the wire and attached it to a ground screw, but it did not correct the four blinks unfortunately.

That was my experience too. Im curious to what broke your tves? Mine broke when I tried to play 4k content in the Disney+ app. I suspect something in this tv is under powered!! I have gotten my tv "back to life" several times (resets, mainboard replacement, and what not..) but every time I "stress" the tv, it dies and start blinking :( Looks like its just garbage now

What you maybe need is a software issue...

@@SLIPKoRn2 NO, the screen came on like it did when it was brand new and has been fine since. Apparently even though that "bad LED"sensor was causing my set to not turn on like it should there was nothing wrong to cause it? My set is perfectly fine now. It is a really stupid design IMHO. Luckily this wire swap fixed it and it wont happen again now.
