This phone has everything a smartphone can have. Amazing display, great cameras, near stock android software, microSD, headphone jack etc.. This phone is as awesome as it gets! Although I am a little worried about the battery life of the phone as it has a 4k 120hz display, I'll be waiting for the full review 🙏

This is the best smartphone I have ever seen, in terms of display, camera, software, audio, design.....!!! No gimmicks, no bloatware like the Chinese phones and even Samsung. I hope Sony phones becomes mainstream again....!!!
3:13 Additional info, Sony finally put their own sensor for all of the rear cameras for this 1 III 'cause they used Samsung's sensor for the telephoto on 1 II but for the front camera is still Samsung's sensor and it is not as wide as 1 II in terms of viewing angle. With a 4K 120hz OLED screen and a 3.5mm high res audio ldac audio jack, that alone is a very cheap price for this phone. The iPhone is half the technology used on the Xperia, and Apple sells it for more all because of their fanboys who buy the brand....

Awesome looking device, never ever did I understand the fascination with getting rid of bezels completely. Whoever came up with let's cut a hole or notch in the screen of these devices should be fired immediately. Nothing at all wrong with very slim bezels and front facing speakers is how it should be!
I like bezels , it makes handling the device easier without getting your mitts all over the display and adds a buffer between the screen and the cement if things go pear shaped , its a nice phone but the narrow wide form Spoils it for me though.

Probably my favorite YT tech channel among the very few that I tune into the watch regularly. Phone is a beast, have always loved the Xperia phones even if Sony has always commanded a Sony tax not much different than Samsung or Apple but if I was going to choose between the three, I'd agree to pay that premium for a Sony device. Camera's again aren't the best in these early impressions for me but I'm not a huge smartphone camera user. Love the frosted grey back though and the metal frame with the grey looks very nice.

Side-mounted fingerprint sensors are the best. Not only you don't have to lift up the phone to place your finger like the conventional rear fingerprint sensor, but also it's faster than the under display ones. I think more phones should go with side-mounted fingerprint sensors rather than rear or under display ones.
As a lumia 710 owner in 2014 , I must say it was one hell of a phone be it touch camera n UI............... marketplace was the only thing tht led to windows downfall
they sell not for profit but for existence, people understand that sony is still around.. they don't make a profit from selling smartphones but from camera lenses that are in almost all cellphones.

they could've topped the android market if they were as active as samsung in marketing. All my devices are xperia (m4 aqua and now xz1). Both phones are amazing in their own time. Never had any regrets on buying xperia phones.
@@airesjone7721 not really. It doesn't have much difference in respect to the price range with the iPhones but with all the features it has, it's more worth it. Plus, if it is offered in plans, the price won't be a problem.
@@airesjone7721 the price is hardly the problem. The price is on par with other flagships with similar specs. The problem is lack of marketing, lack of awareness among the general public, as well as lack of carrier support (which would mitigate the price anyway).
I wonder when you'll do stress test, considering that it has an SD888, and since it caused other comapanies overheating issue, I'll be curious to see how it'll do in the stress test since I geniunely want to buy this phone, and it'll be a huge help for me to know it's temperature under heavy load, thank you in advance tech nick!
This Xperia 1 III looks really good. I will wait for your full review Nick, as it will have to be mind-blowing to make me consider giving up my current handset; Oppo Find X2 Pro which has 512Gb storage, a 5x optical zoom along with a 3K screen. The plus for the Sony is the headphone jack, expandable storage, wireless charging, and that screen 😍
The Xperia 1iii camera has a worse f/ aperture of f/1.7 than the Xperia 1 which has a better f/1.6 so expect the 1iii camera to have worse low light pictures atleast.
@@fendigucci6307 Not at all. You probably don't even know how optics work. The Xperia 1 has a significantly smaller sensor size, about 30% smaller than the Xperia 1 III's main sensor. The aperture varies from different sizes of sensors, so even if you have f/1.6 on the Xperia 1, it would still be smaller than f/1.7 on the Xperia 1 III. Same logic applies to mirrorless cameras, where the f/1.6 on a smartphone is NOT the same size as the f/1.6 on a mirrorless camera (a full-frame, for example).
@@troy5568 I'm afraid we have to go on the specs we are given and as the f/ aperture is smaller on the Xperia 1 it will let more light in than the xperia1iii. Even the galaxy S10 had a f/1.5 aperture and that's a 2019 phone. Sony is well known for cutting their camera specs down to save money. They should really be giving you atleast a 20mpixel sensor in a 3 camera phone setup instead they opt for 3 12mpixel so what if you want to print a photo out on A4 you will have nothing but noise on your photo. Sony also give you the worse selfie camera in any flagship phone compared to apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Huawei and Xiaomi. I have a xz2 19 mpixel camera phone and a Xperia 1 with 3 12 mpixel and a iPhone xr with 12mpixel guess which one takes the better photos? yes the iPhone xr by a massive difference then 2nd is the xz2 due to its 19 mpixel and it's a 2018 phone. Sony loves to hype up their products before they release them and you're falling for it. The Xperia 1 was meant to be this amazing photography camera phone advertised as what a pro would use with the cinema pro app but everything was worse than the xz1 phone from 2017. Sony cut down the Xperia 1 camera to 12 mpixel to save money. Believe me when I say from my past experience with sony the Xperia 1iii will be no better at video and photo than the Xperia 1.

I got last year’s Sony phone and it can’t seem to receive a signal most of the time on t-mobile so I have to keep on using my iPhone 8 most of the time. Maybe this one will be better since it has 5g but honestly, I don’t trust Sony too much anymore and I’m just gonna get the iPhone 13 pro max when it comes out

For a top bezel like that Sony Xperia 1 III could have adopted 12MP, /f1.7, 24mm (wide) + 12MP, /f2.2, 16mm (ultrawide) with dedicated flash as selfie camera but instead they went for 8MP, /f/2.0, 24mm (wide) which is mediocre as proven in its past phones like Sony Xperia 1 II

My uncle has a Sony Xperia and he let me used his phone. I must say that phone was soooo good in person like it's minimal but sooo elegant. You can really feel it's a flagship phone.
There are several inaccuracies in the video. LDAC is not part of the headphone jack, but a Bluetooth Audio codec. It's good that you mentioned it because it's an audio feature, but it will not play part of wired audio playback as it is a Bluetooth codec. The phone does not carry mmWave 5G, currently the Xperia Pro is the only Sony phone with this technology. Keep it up, I have discovered your channel through this video

A camera comparison of Huawei mate 40 pro and Sony 1 iii is highly requested. As both, the manufacturers are following their niche without copying or competing the market.
Well. They do NOT offer high refresh rate on their previous flagships even with reduced resolution (like samsung). They do not offer extra high sensitivity (to use the phone in gloves). Also their phones tend to be not especially bright, do not offer DC dimming... Also, there was xperia Z which was remarkable for its disappointing screen (to make matter even worse, in Japan it shipped with better panels). I own xperia 1mk2 and I am going to buy 1mk3, modern xperia's are good. But it's not about their screens - for me, at least. Yeah, it changes with 1mk3 - I hope =)

I think it has a variable resolution and only triggers 4k when theres a 4k content. I dont know if the refresh rate is variable as well but thats how they handled the resolution on their previous premium series.
1st .... You can find many 4k videos on youtube but ... usually every one doesn't see any video in 4k 😂 and 120 hz it is not adaptative ....so there the battery sucks ☹️☹️
