I hope Sony continues releasing compact phones. Those large phones are just too ridiculously big to carry around and fit in the pocket. More compact phones please!
Genzey Boss I think these are the main reasons Xz2 compact is better than s9: - Xz2 compact is 250€ cheaper, and this is the key factor. - Faster in use and better performance (watch some speedtests) - Better battery - Literally the only compact sized flagship. - FAR better software with faster software updates than samsung for 2 years quaranteed. - 1080 slow mo. - The screen has to be the best lcd ive ever seen. - Isn't boring like the s9 (but this is just my own personal opinion) Although samsung does have the 3.5mm headphone jack, possibly a better screen and better lowlight camera. Overall Xz2 compact is better for the money in my opinion.
If it had a headphone jack...it would have been perfect. It is a shame how close the Compact nailed it. From build quality, to speakers, to performance and then to ruin it with the lack of the headphone jack.
I had exactly those problems with my z3c. It was covered by warranty so they fixed by replacing the display but the glue gave up 8 months later again. I'm using a xz1 compact now, so far I'm happy.
Everything good with XZ1 Compact? :D I heart a lot that it is good. Any issues that you are aware of with the phone? *being from your own experience, rumors or the support forum? :D
I saw this in the store yesterday and the polycarbonate back does not feel cheap to me. Personaly I like it better than the shiny back of the normal xz2, which leaves fingerprints as well. Overall I liked the built quality, it felt sturdy and not cheap. The biggest complaint for me is that the battery is quite small, would've loved a 3000mah or bigger battery. Also unfortunate that there's no jack, but in my country it's paired with a Sony wh-1000xm2 if you preordered the phone, which is said to be one of the best bluetooth headphones of today, so I think I won't miss the jack too much.
Been using this phone for over 2 years now! Verizon in the US. took a little bit of time to figure out why i wasnt getting certain stuff to work, but it was Visual Voicemail that was causing some issues, so i turned it off and its good to go. incredible phone and an ABSOLUTE TANK (with case). this phone is DUR-A-BLE as can be. i go swimming with it all the time, i drop it off of my bed onto hardwood ALL the time, i weld too for a living and its survived the hardships of that as well. battery is getting worse, but not horrible. 5am-530pm and using bluetooth headphones and pandora all day from data, before needing a charge up. the camera is fantastic too. MORE SONY COMPACTS PLS!!!!
I dropped mine more than 10 times in 5 years around 1 meter distance from bed table and while standing however only issue is battery drains quickly now otherwise it's still working as new
I never comment in any youtube video, but your video is so fucking good Mr. Liu Kang, All the reviews should be like that, talking about everything you need to know about the product before you buy, not only of personal impressions. I decided to buy this cellphone because of it. I was looking for a small flagship for years, thank you very much and keep doing the good work! Already subscribed in your channel, thank you again!
As beautiful as the larger phone is the compact appeals to me more. I just wish OEM's would get it through their collective heads that we want the 3.5 mm port for our wired headsets...
1366solar perhaps but for now wired headsets in general are superior to wireless in terms of audio richness and more importantly no need for recharging or need of batteries because it uses the cell phone itself for that , no need to pair it with the cell phone or each other and I already know the pluses for wireless so until the wireless headset's battery life can last as long as a cell phone's battery bank to me its an inconvenience I'd rather not have to deal with
Actually, if these companies had reason to believe that the lack of the 3.5 port was losing sales, they wouldn't be removing it. The "we" in your case is seemingly a minority whether you like it or not.
It's about time there's a small flagship. I miss having a small phone with some horse power. I love my Note but, it's nice to have a phone that small with just as much potential in mah pocket!
So I liked the review except the video stated that there was no headphone jack. You guys messed up on the part that you can plug in headphones to the adapter it comes with by not mentioning it. And seemed like it mislead a lot of people in thinking they can't use headphones! Hope you guys see this comment and thumbs it up so people know. I just got this phone and it's a beast!
@@Trin2816 why would I need to read what I said again, I wrote it. How about you read all the comments with the people who think you cant plug headphones in and tell them that too. So he said dongle and explained it so briefly that I missed it too. And not everyone knows what that is, I probably wouldn't if I didn't had the phone already.
I don't need to read the comments. I actually listened to and looked at the video. I'm not sure how anyone can miss him mentioning the dongle, plugging it in and having headphones plugged into it.
Just used this phone in black in tmobile. I was very sceptic about the design and thickness ( I have z5c) but this phone really does look amazing and it's still very compact. It feels very well made and solid and it's great to hold. Screen is great, and the phone is very fast... I pre-ordered
I like it. Not bothered by the relative bulk of the phone. I like this kind of back way more than glass. The dongle is fine , that’s really much ado about nothing. I’ll most likely wait a few months for the price to drop a bit, but I have no doubt this phone will replace my iPhone SE.
In my area Verizon wireless is my only option, I've wanted a Sony compact for years and now this one is rumored to be available on Verizon! Can't wait to try it out, wish others made compact flagships. Good job Sony.
ive had mine for 1-2 years and ive loved it, i agree the jack has been the only thing ive missed on mine but it might be part of keeping the phone fully water resistant. only complaint i would like fixed on the next edition is the charging cable, has become unstable and the connection seems loose. it might be a issue caused from dust and dirt, but i would really love a ''smarter solution to the charging. wireless charge would make this phone my life companion except for better spec upgrades =)
Lol not really. Not even close. You need the controller for the initial set up of the PS4 and for most games. But you don't need a headphone jack do fully utilize a smartphone. Just buy good BT headphones and be happy. Perfect sound and no (humanly noticeable) lag.
A better analogy would be like a ps4 without an ethernet port and just uses wifi instead. Unless you're an audiphole or listen to MIDI, I don't think you'll notice a huge difference.
Whoever is unhappy about the design, just go for a chinese phone with the ugly notches. I'm amazed by people who consider iPhone X design great, that is one of the ugliest phones I have ever seen. Sony's old square phones look much more attractive.
kirbyswarp That won't hit the market, as it was just a concept. Those things might eventually get released in a few years, but now is not the time you'll see something like that.
Thanks for the video! I have an Xperia Z5 Compact since 2016 and it is starting to fail. I'm thinking about this XZ2 Compact as a good candidate to replace it. I love small phones. Would you recommend this one, or would you suggest another option now?
I've been wanting to replace my Note 3 for a while, and this phone has been on the top of my list since its initial rumors. The headphone jack getting dropped is a downer, but there really aren't many options for a sub-5.2" phone. I think this is the one for me!
I used to hate having no headphone jack. However, I found that I really only use two pairs of wired headphones, so one dongle for each wouldn't be too much of an issue.
Nice to see someone else using Opera. :) And why does the launcher look a lot like Nova Launcher? Anyway, everything about the phone looks great! I actually only started considering it because it fits into a Boxwave keyboard case (designed for the iPhone 6), but the more I learn about this phone the more I'm certain it's even a good choice on its own.
Few questions:Does the Sony XZ2 have that Sony click sound are you use the phone? I always like that sound. Also is there a notification LED light that blinks like the Samsung phones? And you can change the colors? Finally is there a always on display option like the Samsung’s have? Sony XZ2 or iPhone X?
My Xperia XZ2 Compact served me well for few years but all of a sudden the internal Mic failed and so I can speak only through the loudspeaker and videos without audio , from the Net I determined numerous people gone through this problem . Any suggestions ?
Original iPhone ---> iPhone 4 ---> iPhone 5 {Realized they will never change} ---> Galaxy S4 {WORST INTRODUCTION TO ANDROID} ---> Nexus 5 {redemption phone} ---> Z3 Compact {BEST PHONE I've ever owned} ---> Xperia XZ {@ this time I thought i wanted a "big" phone} ---> Pixel XL {@ this time I thought I missed stock} ---> Pixel 2 XL --- > Pixel 2 {lost in overhyped "stock" sauce} ---> iPhone 5s ---> now...XZ2 Compact {Why? Z3C Nostalgia?} Btw epic shot @ 01:11 Thanks for the video...needed SOME visuals lol
Not only did they change the fingerprint sensor from the wonderful side mounted, power button integrated to the rear mounted circle, but also no 3.5mm jack... I guess my Xperia Compact streak is over.
@gsmarena could you please inform me if they have changed the resolution for the 120fps slow motion video recording, or is it all the same as ever (120fps @720p)? And 240fps?
Aníbal Évora definately no 240fps untill new camera isp (i think end of the year flagship or next year) 120 at 1080p i dont know. Honestly almost certain not.
I was looking for a phone to replace my Xperia z3v from Verizon and because I'm with Verizon This phone seems to be a top candidate. but the only downside that I have is the price of this phone is still expensive.
Been using mine for almost 2 years now. It's been a real nice phone but it didn't age well. Gonna have to replace it soon because it keeps over heating too quickly and I know it's due to internal hardware.
what im thinking for coming compact sony phone, sony should keep the xz1 compact design. keep the size, but just make it bezel less as to make it 5 inch screen, and upgrade to 64gb storage, and keep the headphone jack, and increase batt up to 3000mah, keep the dual speakers, make fm radio available, make the fingerprint at the side, but make it as active fingerprint. thats the downside in xz1c - its not active fingerprint.
I stay with my 5t, but i wish Oneplus make a compact phone just like the xz2 compactor the iphone se. So if Oneplus designer is watching this, PLEASE PLEASE make a compact Oneplus PLEASE!
