Mint repair, very well demonstrated. I haven't got the gaskets to keep the screen down, what tape would you recommend for the screen to stay flush with the midframe yet stick down for eternity? Can't be dealing with lifting lol

+ZFix Thanks for your guide, I've replaced the screen on an iphone 4s before, that was a pain in the butt, apple seem to use different screw heads and sizes just for the hell of it. The Z2 was relatively in comparison.

Steve Michael The digitizer and the LCD display are glued and you will need special tools and really good experience to do separation.

Hey, thanks for uploading this video. I have a question, i hope you can help me, i had my phone under water, first the display flickered, and now it doesnt light up, but i can still use the phone, everthing works (incoming calls charging, led, vibrations etc..) do you think a new display will help my problem? i just ordered one from amazon, i hope i will be able to change the display without damaging everything, but its not the first time i worked with phones. just to be secure should i use isopropyl alcohol to clean everythning? thanks!

chrisler92 Yes, it's good to use isopropyl to clean the board and connectors. Also use a magnifying glass. Detailed inspection of the phone will give you answer is the water the reason for this problem and if yes, from where it come in. Then concentrate more attention to the details around this place.

Will replacing this change the IMEI and everything else? So it would be an entirely new phone? I ask because i have a blocked Z2(bought it online, got scammed :/) and i want to unblock it. Paying £80 for a replacement motherboard or whatever to unblock it should be worth it. Also i think my phone was originally bought in Hong Kong, that shouldn't matter either should it? Thanks.

After a screenrepair at a unathorized shop, my phone has bad reception. I can still make calls, but only if im standing next to a window. Do u think the antenna component is wrecked, and i need to replace it?

+-blueberry Maybe broken antenna module or coaxial cable. You can ask the guy from the shop to check it, maybe the coaxial cable is disconnected.

hallo! my xperia z2 is fell and is crack only back glass. Everything else is good and phone work normal. so i will replace this glass and i have one question for you. Do i need heat glass/adhesive when i back it on the phone? I mean, maybe adhesive paste better then? I wish that after replacemant back glass, phone be still waterproof. P.S. and sory for my bad english. :) Thanks.

Josip Meaški Yes, use a hair dryer and warm the back cover. This will make separation more easy. For the new back cover use adhesive sticker (like in video), otherwise, the phone will not be waterproof.

+Ovidiu A Depends of the quality of the spare part. I had a headache with one Xperia Z2 (not this one). Finally I bought another display assembly. If the spare part is good quality you will not see any difference.

Hey mate, I replaced my touchscreen + LCD and I have random touches around the screen average 30sec or less and I CANT touch unless I block the screen and unlock again. What can I do to solve it? I have on my channel my disassembly shown what I have tried. Thanks in advance.

Try to clean and reconnect the touch screen flex cable. It's connected to the LCD main cable. If the problem persists, this is a faulty spare part.

so, I just replaced my Xperia z2's screen. there seems to be a problem which I really don't understand. On turning it on, the phone displays the "Sony Xperia" logo, but after that it just stays black. the phone is actually on, and senses touches. I can hear the Sony ticks when tapping around, probably on the passende.. but no image. screen even lights up but black.. a lit up black display. help would be greatly appreciated!

My glass shattered in my pocket. Touch won't work, but the picture is fine, no colors are messed up. I can even use my camera via the shutter key, but can't unlock it as i cant sweep across the screen. Do i have to replace the display and touch screen, or just touchscreen?

So, after removing the broken screen and partially installing in the new screen, I turned it on to try it as you said. The screen turns on, which is good, BUT momentarily. The screen flashes on to the "Sony Xperia" screen, and flashes off. And repeats that over and over again at different intervals. I have checked the wiring and connections and see no breakage and whatnot. Any clue what it could be or how to fix it?

datAgetro What is the situation with the old screen? Unless you have important data in it, you can try to reflash the phone.

ZFix the old is screen is completely trashed. Cracked predominantly along the top right and throughout the rest of the screen. Thus the replacement.

datAgetro Most probably this is the main board. Why? As I understand your phone restarts by himself. If the problem is in the new display, this means the new spare part must have higher power consumption that forcing the phone restarts (less likely). I suggest you this. Test the phone connected to the PC. With the new display the PC will connect and disconnect it all the time. If you have the same symptoms with the old display you must search the problem in the main board and flex cables inside. Also you can try to reflash the phone to be sure that this is not a SW problem. But if your PC see normally your phone with the old LCD, then the problem is the spare par.

+Ahmad Sholih Most probably this is a screen damage but first try hard reset (to be sure it's not from app), second, open the back cover and reconnect the screen flex cables. For the hard reset - safe you data first.

For Xperia M2 is really hard to find. When I did this video, I could not find any. Now there are but the selection is not as large as for Xperia Z series. Search in online shops for genuine or high quality adhesive stickers. About the spare parts, they are not genuine (because the price will be like for a new phone) but quality is almost same.

DJ KEYBOARD You can't change only the touch screen because its glued together with the LCD display. Separating is hard operation, requires experience and special tools. You have to buy display assembly like in this video.

I suppose you connect the Display properly. What was the situation with the old display? If you has lights with the old one, maybe the problem is the spare part. Also check the main flex cable (the black one) for damage and whether it is well connected to the PCB.

ZFix I checked all the connectors and pins but all seem to be fine. I would rather that products in flex cable but even that does not seem to be damaged . When I want to turn on the phone , nothing happens just a few times, then the charging LED is red . But nothing happens . Of course I had the phone for a while and the charger .

I want fix mine but my touchscreen won't work at all just Power and volume buttons along side work, so I can't select switch off, does this matter? And if I take repair shop why they say they'll reset then I lose everything I had saved on my ph - anyone know this is what I was told before when I took in to fix cracked screen but because the touch screen still worked they didn't need to. And my ph password protected when I switch it on.

denzilj Officially you can not find original replacement parts. The original parts are intended only to authorized services. Try to search the display assembly like OEM.

I buy spare parts from eBay and Amazon from dealers with higher feedback and many deals. Original spare part you can buy officially only from an authorized service centers but the prices there are very high.

richard hamilton Do you have a picture with the old display or it was totally broken? The problem can be flex cable connector (try to reconnect it), bad spare part (you must have another display for test). Connect the phone to the PC, do you have connected Xperia device?

The old display, was just cracked but had a picture. So put that back on phone and that too has no picture. The phone does work as connected it to my PC and got the data off. It's literally the display has no picture. Have checked and tripled check all the connectors.

Check the main board for a broken element. Use a magnifying glass. If you do not have important data try to reflash it with Sony PC Companion.

Bunthoeun Noni First try a factory reset and OS update. If this not help you, this is a hardware problem.

It's glued, difficult for replacement but most probably you have a problem withe the micro USB charging connector.

Great video, The glass on my z2 is cracked and the touchscreen functionality is lost. The actual LCD image doesnt seem damaged or 'cracked' though. Sorry to link in comments but is this all i would need for repair or am i best sticking with your link? there just seems to be a big difference in price. Mark Montgomery The touch screen and the LCD display are glued. To separate them you must have a special equipment and a lot of experience. Even so, the risk of breaking the display is large.
