How is this possible?
I don’t need a7cii , my a7c is more than i will ever need. No to the race to get always newest. A7c is very good for all scenario. I will keep my a7c for at least 15 years or more.
I’ve had an a7c since launch and I love it. I use it primarily for photography, sometimes video on a gimbal. If the price matched the a7c I’d say it would be a good match. I’d wait for a price drop or a used e1 to justify the new toy cost
@@Save.the.legends if I catch a used one at some point I might pull the trigger but I also feel like I could get an a7 series body for way less used right now
The lack of EVF is a bigger deal than a lot of people assume. I have the ZV-E10, and the lack of EVF means I use the GH5 M2 90% of the time, and only use the ZV-E10 when Product Showcase is needed.
I use apac lens such as sigma 18-50/2.8 and sony 10-18/F4 on my a7 c. It can still shoot 4k. that's a huge plus for me as it's very light weight, and has ibis.
I think we have both spent a lot of time in Japan/Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto etc. I do most of my street photography late afternoon and nighttime. For PHOTO-centric users... which would you pick if bias is low light?
zv e1 for video. the a7c is a good photo camera, but I'm one of those WANT 4k 60 and 4k 120, I want that low light capability when I don't have lighting available. The a7c falls short quickly and leaves me wanting more. Forgot to mention I rarely take photos as it's not my main focus.
@@trym2121 why when I can have this one? Cheaper, same results. Don’t care for extra Sd card slots or heating. I live in the desert where it’s 120 degrees +. I already have the a7siii and a7iv lol, a7siii lags without the firmware update.
I just want a Sony camera without all the video crap I don’t need or want. Make it cheaper, just for photographers like cameras used to be before the narcissists ruined them.
Ya know, what I would REALLY love to see you do is a video showing the complete behind the scenes production of your videos. Specifically how you set or change exposure and settings as you shoot in a day - what modes you use, exposure set(s), setting WB, etc..
Me too…. But are we sure now there will be a II series ??? It looks like this one is a way of his evolution … even specs are différents . I love my A7C but because I use it a lot on vidéo work, I would love to get the A7C2 with 10 bit 422 and use slog 3 for colorgrading in DaVinci… 8 bit 420 is not enough for me and I use now Slog 2.. Also get more stabilisation and new auto focus ….
I feel a little cheated because I see how Sony left the 7c aside and they haven't even released updates, nothing costs them to update the menu or add more options that it could easily support
My A91 and Zeiss 35.14 was stolen recently. I think I’m going to purchase an A7C due to this video. I don’t need the fast shutter speed anymore and I do mostly portraits too. This was super helpful since I’m on a budget!
Hey Jason! So ok new body ZV-E1 BUT Sony still need to offer THE tiny and bright wide-angle PRIME lens. AND if we will crop as a 30% on dynamic mode, SO it needs to be 14mm or 15m full frame coverage! Agree? And I'm NOT talking about the 14 1.8 G MASTER, that one is big, heavy and expensive. It's something like the little APS-C Sony 11mm transformed to full frame aspect. Please tell them that would be lovely if it could be small and f/2.0, and if it's not possible, than ok, make it 14 or 15mm f/2.8. Small, compact and affordable. With this kind of Dynamic CROP, all 20mm are not wide enough anymore, although the real 18-20mm is my favorite field of view for vlogs and a lot of other stuff.
Ugh, I don’t want this to be the A7Cii replacement! With the A7Cii I was looking to maybe an upgraded EVF and now I might not be getting any EVF at all. Like, can Sony just announce the NAMES of the other two cameras they’re releasing this year so I don’t have to wait and wonder.
The A7Cii is likely to come out by this year with the guts of the A7iv. I’m guessing that it will still have the same puny evf and single card slot. It would have to be priced between the Canon R8 and S5ii to make sense. I feel like this ZVE1 is a big misstep for Sony. Content creators like to take photos as well. It would’ve made more sense to use the A7iv specs with the new AI processing. You just lose 4K 120 and have a cropped 4K 60. Now the AI is limited by 12MP, I would think it’s possible that the AI can pan and crop tighter with a 33MP sensor. End of the day, if this is a content creator camera, people don’t require this special sensor, even the FX30 has a regular sensor.
@@anonymousl5150 well the original A7C was marketed as a content creation and vlogging cam already, which I thought was quite suitable. Sony is a genius at differentiating their products. Want the almost perfect hybrid camera? Get the A7iv but it has cropped 4K60 for absolutely no reason because it has the same processor as the A1. If you want uncropped 4K 60 you are forced into the A7siii or A1. Same with the S5ii. Canon R8 is a great example, same capabilities as the R6ii but crippled with no ibis, single card slot and small battery. Professionals have to forge out pro level money for the features they need. They have to differentiate the A7Cii from the A7iv enough to protect their product lineup. It’s never about what we want. As for vloggers, I personally feel the ZV1 and ZVE10 are the most suitable. The portability outweighs the sensor size.
What was the ambient temperature while you were filming for that length of time though? It didn’t look all that hot. When testing for overheating this info is very important. I really think this camera is only going to be suited to cooler climates. There’s no way you will be able to record 4K 60 for any length of time in a city like Bangkok for example. Even in London this wouldn’t last long if the summer is anything like last year. This camera looks perfect in every way (for video) except for the heat issue, they should’ve put a cooling fan inside. It wouldn’t have impacted the size too much. I would guess that this is why the 120fps was held back too. All the reviews would show it overheating after a few mins, which would’ve just been bad PR
Exactly what I was thinking brother. Thermal stats are very important when purchasing a camera, especially for those who are going to be live-streaming or shooting outside. The 30 minute record limit on the ZV-E1 camera should have been emphasized since its clearly a main component due to the possibility of over heating- which currently isn’t an issue that the A7C has, it has amazing thermals and no record limit.
My a7c is more than i need for photo and video. I will keep it for many many years. Photo are very high quality and video 8 bit are very nice on a7c. It is compact and reliable with mech shutter very good low light perf. Works great with the flagship flash. It is the best compact full frame for me. I won’t upgrade. My package is complete with two lens flash and remote bluetooth, smallrig cage, pro mic stereo mono. It is the best package for the price. It has no real weakness. Not the best everywhere but good or very good everywhere.
As a A7c user (photo and video), I miss 4K60p 10bit and a little better AF, hope A7cII will have it, so i`ll wait. Low light is not a problem with f1.4 and f1.8 prime lenses.
Great video! I am an A7C user who primarily shoots video. I am planning to upgrade this year because I am looking for 4K 60fps and I want to learn to color grade so I’m looking for 10 bit color. I’m really interested in seeing how the A7C Ii, assuming it is released this year, compares to the ZV - E1.
Same! I’m now worried though because the price for the E1 is a bit high which makes me concerned that the price for α7CII is gonna be higher or there will be compromises to keep it in the same price range in order to not cannibalize the E1. Maybe no 4K120 or maybe even no 4K60.
@@mykeljewell how is the e1 expensive ? , The camera it was based on ( a7s3 & fx3 ) was even more The a7s' was always destined to be more expensive than the a7' due to the more specialized sensor The a7c mk2 will be cheaper due to it having more rolling shutter and lower usable iso ceiling
@@KNAPPAID I never said it wasnt priced accurately for its features. But It’s a $2200 camera & that’s a lot of money for a camera intended to be a an entry level style full frame camera. It’s priced at the same level as an A74, which to me, like I said, means that there could be some unfortunate cuts to an A7Cii to make it a proper value prop over just getting an A74. But we’ll see. My hope is that if the C comes it has most of the features of the 4’s sensor with the added autofocus ai of this new technology
That’s not fair about the 4K part though because I thought the EV overheats while the A7C doesn’t when shooting 4K.. and I feel like that’s a major factor
If you focus on photo the a7c is a better option because of the mechanical shutter, but if you focus more on video stuff and want that 10 bit capability the ZVE1 is a better buy, I wished the a7c had a cfexpress slot which would tremendously help on sports photography.
Why there's no perfect camera............... I just wish the ZV-E1 has viewfinder with 24mp, and will immediately get one............ I will keep using my a7c I got for 1,200usd for a while until a7siii with 24mp comes out..
Hey Jason! I was wondering if you could help me. I used to live in Japan and have not been able to go back for ten years. I am trying to plan a trip back soon and would like a camera, but I have to choose one at the moment before eventually buying both. I have an x100v at the moment and it's fantastic, but I think I would like some nice video while I am over there as well. I also have a Canon M50 Mark ii, but if I'm upgrading my camera bodies I was considering either the R6 Mark ii to stay with my Canon lenses, or one of these (Zv-E1/A7c). I just got my x100v and so it is still eligible for return. Do you have any recommendations please? Thank you so much for all your work and videos.
Sony dominates the mid and high end flat top, rangefinder style mirrorless camera market with the FX3, FX30, A7C and now ZV-E1. The only other manufacturer I can see dropping a competitive full frame model into this space anytime soon is Panasonic LUMIX, given recent comments from one of their senior executives about the importance of producing ‘smaller’ cameras and LUMIX’s history with similar form factor MFT cameras. My hope would be that a LUMIX version would offer superior value for money like that offered by the S5 II vs A7IV. But for a Sony shooter, the ZV-E1 looks like an amazing piece of kit unless you are a hard core stills shooter. The only other main weakness is that visually it is not appealing: it is void of any Fujifilm type emotional appeal. Otherwise, well done Sony!
That question is already answered by Sony themself. What is the purpose of this video? I get the fact that you need to a video about the zve1. But why not choose a better topic?
I don't get why people keep comparing this to an S5II. The S5II is a great camera, don't get me wrong, but it is also a bigger/heavier camera. It's like comparing a 16" desktop replacement laptop to a 13" ultrabook and complaining the latter isn't as competitive in terms of performance/cost ratio. The main appeal is the form factor!
I’m pretty happy with my Sony ZV-1. It’s so small and light, I can bring it everywhere in our vacation trip. It’s also so easy to use, I can set it in intelligent auto mode and have my wife record our vacation video. The lens is not quite wide, but luckily me and my wife have pretty long arms, combined with Ulanzi mini tripod that you recommended, we have a decent wide angle to record our vlog. I’m still waiting for Sony ZV-2, though, hopefully with wider lens.
The ZV-E1 is 3200$ (usd!) body only in my country. It’s so insanely expensive compared to elsewhere. But I have no self control so I will get it but it sucks. Usually cameras are more similar in prices here.
This is the issue I see with Sony. They used to release new models faster so there wasn’t as much of a need to drop the price of current models. Now the A7Siii and the A7C are going on 3 years old. So they are pricing new models in an ecosystem that has overpriced models. The R8 has the same sensor in the new R6ii with no crop. And yet the A74 has cropped 4k60. Which means when they come out with the A7Cii it’ll probably have the same cropped A74 sensor at $1800. Meaning a camera that isn’t even released will be worse and more expensive than the Canon R8. It’s like they’ve given up on innovation and are planning to milk all the people who built them up.
@@cjenkins79 The R8 also has no IBIS. It is also a chunkier camera unlike the A7C which is sleek and has a flush top. I guess Canon stopped innovating?😅
@@fromia1 all cameras have to make some sacrifices. In the case of the R8 they gave up ibis, the second card slot and have the crappy micro hdmi. But at least with those sacrifices they hit the $1500 mark. Had they took out the ibis on the ZV-E1, added the viewfinder and sold it for $1500 also I wouldn’t be complaining. Listen to all the reviews of the ZV-E1. All of these RU-vidrs want one as a back up b cam. But no one really recommends it for vloggers and entry level context creators because it cost to much. That’s fine but then why is Sony MARKETING it to the people who aren’t going to buy it. The camera has no innovation. It’s not a new sensor like the R8. They simply took an old camera stripped stuff out and slapped a $2200 price tag. When in reality people only want it for a back up and the A7Siii should already be close to $2509 as is.
@@cjenkins79 Exactly, each camera has their pros and cons. Sony didn't give up and stop innovating. As a beginner vlogger cam I would still recommend the ZV-E10.
whats annoying about a7c is that you need to stabilize the videos in post, one by one. its such a waste of time that it makes it worth getting a newer camera that does that in body.
So ZV-E1 4K is not "as" sharp? Well DPREVIEW said the same thing about the A7S3. My ZVe10 is super sharp at 4K25p. I will stay with it. I was hopping for super sharp 4K60p
Sad that even the new 12MP E1 body is still HEAVIER than my decade old flagship 36 MP A7R, sans the fancy 4k videos. If Sony could shave another 100g off the next E2 and insert the small GPS chip like in my 24 MP A77, I would upgrade.
Vason Jong (lol) read my mind, I feel much better with my newly bought, 2 month old A7C now :') perhaps the ZVE-1 as a 2nd camera body, 2nd hand, 1 year+ in the future...
