You make an interesting point about not being able to use the Sony 50mm 1.8 in small spaces. One of the things I like about the Sigma 16mm 1.4 for talking head interviews is that I can set up in really tight spaces and simply use an on camera mic to get good audio. Perhaps the focal length isn't the best for the face, but the result is still excellent...well I think so. Nice video again Joe. Thank you.
Hey Joe, I've just recently found you but I am already a huge fan of yours. I have so much appreciation for your thorough detailed videos. You put in so much care and love for your craft - it's simply contagious ! I've been postponing starting my RU-vid channel forever because this whole filming and editing business felt so overwhelming. But since I've begun watching you, things are getting clarified and I can see that it's not so intimidating after all. I'm so happy I finally found a proper mentor !! Grateful for you. I have a question, I own Sony ZV -E10 with a kit lens and I also have Tamron 17 - 70 mm f/28. My intention is to make videos out in the wild. I do need some instructions on how to use and set up my camera with this lenses . Would you be so kind to maybe throw in a few point form tips, whenever you have a minute ? Also, I'm planning to use Luma on my i-Pad for editing (currently, I don't have a proper computer that can handle Premier or Da Vinchi). Are you familiar with this software ? Do you think I could use your tutorials for FCP in Luma as well ? Thanks for your time ~!! Mike
hey @Michael gergel, I was thinking of buying the Tampon 17-70mm f/2.8 for my ZV-E10. What's your experience on this combo? Especially when it comes to size and weight?
Awesome video. Cool to see why you choose like you do. After I got the sigma 18-50 f2.8 I hardly ever use the 16 f1.4 anymore. I did pick up the tamron 11-20 f2.8 the other day. For those grand wide landscape shots. Haven't tried it out much yet, as one of my kids borrowed it for a trip. Just realized I'm using the zv-e10 more for photos these days. But for video i use the sigma 18-50 for everything except planes. Then I turn to the Sony 70-350.
sigma 30mm f1.4 has always done me right, just need a gimble for video, but i’d like to ad a wide screen lens and high zoom lens soon, i can’t help but stick with sigma
What is a recommended budget lens for travel photography and vlogging if I'm having some budget constraints and can only get 1 lens? I'm not a photographer, I just want to document nice highlights of trips that I make. I've heard of people recommending the Sigma 16mm but it is still a bit pricey for me, my working budget is maybe around $350 - $400, 2nd hand lenses are fine with me as long as they are in good condition.
Let’s say I want to record some sports action videos, sitting on the side lines at a soccer game and I want to record zoomed up footage of players, what lens would give me the best zoom capability for that type of content ?
After looking at this video @6:45 I have decided to spend the extra money on the Sony - FE 50mm F1.8 Standard Lens (SEL50F18F) because I want the same exact clear look that you have in this video so I got no choice I will have to get the lens however I am curious if this same lens will fit on the A6400?
what would you recommend for fitness videos? i heard 11mm is best? Would also like to occasionally take photos/videos of food. Would i need another lens for that?
Excellent video and very informative for me as my ZV-E10 arrives tomorrow . Question for you. What are your thoughts on the Tamron 17-70 lens? I was thinking of getting that one but now you got me interested in the Tamron 17-28 and 28-75.
If you don't go to Full frame in near future you also could see some aps-c lenses. For example, Sigma 18-50 f2.8. Because Tamron 17-28 and 28-75 is a full frame lenses and cost and weight more.
Buying lenses for my is all about budget. Buying a 1000 euros lens for a 700 euros camera doesn't cut it for a family usage camera. I ordered the ZV-E10 and waiting for it to arrive this week. I really like and appreciate your videos about tweaking the settings for this camera. RU-vid is giving me a hard time finding time so i just bookmarked them. The lens i will buy in the near future will probably be the Sony E55-210 mm one. I like to shoot some family style photo's from a distance. One question i have if will be able to use my very old lenses from my old Practica analogue camera with some sort of adapter. And, if that can lead to any acceptable results. I know these lenses from the inside out and even from a nostalgic point of view would me make very to be able to use them once again after so many years.
An option you might consider is the Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6. It's optically significant better than the kit lens and has a very large zoom range from wide angle to telephoto, making it a very versatile everyday lense. Of course, it's not the fastest lens, but in daylight it's great, and you can get it used regularly for 300-400$.
Which of these lenses (16-50)-(28-70) are better for vlogging? I want to start seriously my RU-vid channel and I would love your opinion. I love your channel I wish you one day to get to 1 million subscribers!
Nice inspiration. Currently I have the Sony 10-18 F4, Sony 18-105 F4 and a Sigma 16 F1.4. Interested in a tamron objective to get down to F2.8 on the mid-long range stuff but for Vlogging I think I'm set. Oh. I would like to see you make a "go out and shoot generally, whats in my camera bag" video btw! Also I wonder if you've tried te ECM-B1M Sony mic in the hot shoe? I heard it is great.
Hi Simon, great idea on the next video. I haven’t tried out that Sony mic out. I need to pick one up but trying to budget wisely and save up for the ZV-2. Do you know of any updates on that?
@@thefilmalliance Yeah that mic is quite expensive and also never in stock. Mine is coming in august that I ordered. Oh ZV-2. No idea. Would be interesting to look at the price point first.
I got the Sigma 18-50, f2.8 like some of the other commentors, which I think is amazing and works well if you don't want the fixed Sony 50mm. My question is is how does the Sony 55-210 stack up with other long-distance Sony lenses and ones like the Tamron 28-200 (f2.8-5.6) on the ZV-E10? I'm new to photography and have learned a lot from your channel! I just came back from a sporting event and would have LOVED to have a higher zoom, so I'm looking at purchasing something that can also capture fast-action sports too. Also, finding Catalyst Browse has been the best thing ever! :)
I would say that the Sony 55-210 is not not as good as the Tamron lens. I have a feeling the Tamrons are sharper and this lens is pretty cheap. With that said, it is still a very good lens.
Is the Sony 16-55 mm f/ 3.5-5.6 good for street photography for fashion? I want to start taking my own street photos with my upcoming clothing brand & have great quality photos to start.
My iPhone is 26mm equivalent according to Google and I’ve been find with this field of view. So maybe I’d wanna find something like 18mm for this. It’s just product reviews so everything is held a foot in front of the camera or a few inches
Also, being that these are product videos, I don’t like the idea of these lenses being huge. But I don’t mind paying the price of what the camera cost if it’s going to last me in the long run and take my content up a notch.
Hello, I would buy a Sony ZV E10 and make yoga lesson filmings, similar to Boho beautiful Yoga channel videos, so the videos is full of movements. Please advise which lens is good to have sharp focus to body only and with not too much zoom, as I will make 70% outdoors filmings. Thank you.
I need a small lens, like a pankake, for vlogging. You say that the 16-50 ain't good for vlogging. What small lens would you recommend in this case? Brg
Launching a fashion brand., will be doing photoshoots with models wearing the product with a backdrop, so we don't need a crazy wide angle. Also will be doing video shoots for content so we need that good quality. Which lens would you recommend?
@@thefilmallianceWill be doing a mix of indoor and outdoor shoots. Indoor shoots will have a lighting set up (around 4 lights total, box lights). Outdoor shoots will not be lit (we do have some reflectors we’ll be utilizing as well). For reference, located in the Seattle area so outside of Summer, most days are overcast or cloudy. Appreciate your help!
hey joe I'm an absolute beginner and I'm going to be picking up my Sony zv-e10 this weekend and ill be doing conducting interviews and shooting short. documentaries and was told to get the Tamron 17-70 which I didn't see you mention in this video...what are your thoughts please.
Hello! Great video. Very informative. I just bought the zv e 10. I want to start a youtube channel in which I want the frame to be the same as Coryxkenshin's when he plays/ talks to the camera. He's my favorite youtuber. Do you think that the sigma f 1.4 16mm is the one for what I intend to do ? If not, which lens do you recommend? Thank you very much in advance.
Hello my friend, Great and informative video, please I would really appreciate it if you read my comment and reply. I do cooking videos and I would like to find Sony camera lens that is able to take 4k image to a cooking pan from about a meter away to avoid the heat and the splashing oil but at the same time to be able to zoom very close to get a micro image to the ingredients. I would really appreciate your help.
Hello friend ,I want to change my iPhone videos for something more interesting! For price around 1000$ I think, it’s best tool for my targets, but I newbie , and I don’t really understand - which lens I need🥲 my main task - is to shoot people in gym, close-up , body parts, vertical videos for reels, good blur, but don’t so much , cinematic effect. Previously, my friend shoot me on Sony a7sii and it’s looks good for me, but now, I don’t have chance - ask him , which Linz he used . Will it cope Sony zv-10 with my task? Will it more better then I shoot on my iPhone , if I only won’t work on social media, I want to stand out from the crowd taken on the phone and which lens should I choose other than kit Linz
Hey, there, well first question is what will the lighting conditions be like? Also if you really want to stick with your phone, have you ever thought of getting a phone gimbal?
Hey bro do I need to wait for new sony camera in 2023 or buy sony zve10? My purpose is for videography and photography. I don't like too much rolling shutter
I would recommend the ZV1 or the ZVe10. They have great video quality. I have a couple other videos comparing and contrasting these cameras from one another, and that may help you to make your decision.
You mean we was supposed to be hitting the 👍 button if based on the set/studio? & not the topic an delivery of / quality the info? 🤦😳 … I don’t get it you made a free video 🤔 I had no idea I was to be paying for the vids I watched 🤷♂️😳 oops! .. ✌️🤙

@@thefilmalliance I just bought myself the ZV1 for Christmas. I am planning to do some bowling videos, and have my doubts the ZV1 will have enough zoom to get the shots I had in my mind. I'll know for sure tomorrow, and if not I'll have to return the ZV1, I'm thinking the E-10 is the next logical jump so I was doing some pre-anticipatory research just to be ready if I need to pivot with my strategy and gauging the price range the upgrade was going to cost me.
I just received the Sony E 10-18mm F4 lens for my Sony ZV-E10 - it's a heavy thing but bought it primarily for vlogging in a small room and thought it could also be great for shooting the night sky with too. Thanks for the very informative video, man!
Great information I am subscribed for sometime. I use a ZV-1 as my RU-vid studio camera and just upgraded to the ZvE-10 what lens would you recommend for in studio camera use only on this new camera? I have the kit lens and a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 this lens is still in the box I want to use the new camera as my main and the zv-1 as a secondary angle camera. Thanks in advance
I think that sounds like a great setup. I would pull that Sigma lens out and use it. Thank you for the words of encouragement. Do you shoot professionally or as a hobby?
Appreciate the video. What kind of lens would you recommend for my situation? I do product photography for my own hair extensions business. Pictures are basically hair, in a variety of shades, taken on a(n off) white background, top-down. Got access to studio lights. Sometimes I need to capture small details, but the majority is full hair extensions, where a relatively flat area of 40x40cm needs to be in focus. The kit-lens isn't always catching the details I hoped for, and I'm looking for a significant upgrade, but not in the price range of a (2nd hand) pro-grade camera.

@@thefilmalliance camera also not cheap & without good lens like body without soul ,when you can spend 1000 doller strech little more 300 doller In beginning I was thought why my camera not giving that quality in low light or that kind of blur that I seen in various RU-vid video But when I switch kit lens to prime lens everything magically change
What would you recommend for shooting sports from the bleachers whether its a basketball game or wrestling match? I'm currently using the Sony Zv-e10. Thoughts for lens? Thanks!
Hi Joe, first, thanks for the great video! I just bought me a ZV-E10 and I´m a rookie in this game. Unfortunately I recognized that the kit lens doesn´t fit me for what I want to do. Coming from a GoPro 9 :)) I bought this Cam as n Upgrade to my videos. I want use The Sony for my DJ-Set Video Mixtapes recording them in a small room. The cam is in front of me at a distance of 90 cm. The Kit Lens doesn´t get everything on the image ´cause I can´t zoom back. Could you give me a advice which lens will fit me the most? Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany!
Please suggest light weight pro gimbal for Sony ZV-E10 camera and Sony 11mm f.8 lens for real estate videography. I like Zhiyun Crane M3 because of light weight also DJI RS 3 new gimbal but I don't which one a good choice for me please guide.
hi thx for this helpful video. i have some question pls guide: what is the camera that you used when you are talking head scene (like this video)? what are gamma and color mode setting? do you realy satisfied with your sony zv e10? i just bought this but i saw some bad things about this on net, such asit is not 10 bit and it is 8 bit so we dont have lots of nice color ranges or it is not good when you move it around when filming (it does not give smooth move on shoots). i want this for talking head scene and some action movements clips but i dont know is it good or net? do you have any better suggestion?
I am new to photography and learning from RU-vidrs like yourself. I am confused as to how the F mount Tamron lens mounts to the E mount ZV-e10 camera. Is an adapter needed???? Thanks!
Just bought my ZV10. Have an a6000. Also have had 2 Sony RX100 models. Most of my lenses are Sigma primes and 2 lower end Sony zooms and the kit lens. Bought NOT for blogging. Good piece by you,
Sir , can you suggest good macro lens for zve ? Im a fish aquarist nature enthusiasts... . Right now im using the kit and can get some decent shot but im thinking on buying a macro so i can get a nice and closer shot of the fish ...
