Hey James, sorry for the delay hadn’t realised I hadn’t responded to this! The ZV1 is good in low light for a camera with a 1 inch sensor but has a bit more user learning curve than shooting in the day. Here is a deep dive on low light performance I’ve now done which was part inspired by your question:) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sGS17Cy5AOE.html

Useful video buddy, is there any reason you didn't go for the Ulanzi wide angle adapter lens? The 52mm does have its uses mind you. 🤔
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey WWW, that’s a great Q:) Short answer: when I bought the Zomei a few months back the Ulanzi wasn’t available. However from what I’ve learned since, the Zomei actually provides a significantly wider field of view and, as you say, I use a few other 52mm accessories so get good use out of the adapter. There’s some great info from a guy called Stoney Drey who did more research on the Ulanzi in the comments on my video on the Zomei here which might be useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DpjV2VIEb2s.html Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions and consider subbing if you’re interested in more content like this:) Thanks for watching!:)

Excellent accessories. Definitely by using the ZV-1for a few weeks it is very hard to manipulate without the wide angle lens in some filming situations. Ulanzi also makes a lens that comes with everything together for the same price. I'm going to try and find the macro lenses on Amazon for the U.S. I've seen one photographer take a macro lens from another camera and make an adapter for it, but I would like it if it would fit properly on the camera. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of photography with us. Have a wonderful day!
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Thanks Salvatore-a great and thoughtful comment as ever:) I did look at the Ulanzi wide angle lens but it wasn’t available when I was looking to buy so ended up with the Zomei but I think it looks good. I think I saw a similar hack on macro lenses: using lenses from an interchangeable lens camera backwards. Looked effective but I didn’t think it looked super stable or convenient so that solution seems a bit more situational. In the uk there seemed to be quite a few of those ‘close up adapter’ macro kits so I hope you find the same in the US as there are several options here. Great to here from you and have an awesome day too!

Hey, great video. Can the ND filter be attached to one of the wide angle lenses mentioned here. The Ulanzi seems easiest for me to get here. Sorry if I missed this answer in the video.
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey JN, thanks for the good question:) The answer is yes: I usually mount the variable ND straight to the zv1 amd then you can attach any accessory with a 52mm filter thread on top of that, including the Ulanzi or Zomei wide lenses. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 💪

Hi Dave, how are you? Hope everything is fine 😜. I have one question: can I attach the ND Filter on Zomei to my Sony ZV-1, considering that I already attached the lens adapter on my camera? Does it fit or what other solutions do I have to consider? Thanks for your time. Best wishes 👍🏻🎯😊
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey Robert, great to hear from you again:) The short answer is yes; if you use either the adapter I mention or the one that comes with the Ulanzi wide angle lens both will provide a 52mm attachment point; so then just use the 52mm variable nd of your choice and you’re good to go:) I can also confirm the Zomei variable nd I’ve been using can be attached to the camera then have a wide angle lens attached to it if you want to use both together:)

@achimd.8135
@achimd.8135 3 года назад
Hello DB Vares, I was looking for that Selfie Stick Tripod. However, it seems it's gone. When clicking the link following message is shown by Amazon. "Looking for something? We’re sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site." As for the ND filter, as you have shown in the video, what are you looking at when adjusting the ND filter? The Aperature?
@crazycubanreviews3761
@crazycubanreviews3761 3 года назад
Do you turn off your internal nd when you put the nd filter on???
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey Sebastien, it depends on how bright the conditions are. If I use the external ND I normally want to keep to a 1/50 shutter and try to keep ISO low to minimise any image noise. If conditions are a bit bright I might turn off the internal ND and twist the variable until I get nice exposure, if they are very bright I might turn on the internal ND and then use the external one as well to manage the light coming in. I don’t have a hard and fast rule-just trying to respond to conditions and keep my other settings like shutter at the level I want. Hope that makes sense and let me know if you have any other questions:)

@@dbvares8745 oh thanks. by the way, I ordered ulanzi ZV1 wide lens this time after watching another video of yours. and they will send me the adapter with adhesive, but this brought me another question. - If I used the adapter along with ulanzi, then I could have some compatibility issue of other lens and filter? because I want to use other options which you introduced in this video. if it doesn't have a problem at all, I won't buy Profezzion 52mm Adapter, but if does or have some important point of Profezzion 52mm adapter, I should think about that. again, your videos give me the standard for ZV1 usage. thank you again as a ZV1 user.
@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
So a very good question but thankfully an easy one to answer: both the Profezsion and Ulanzi use a 52mm size adapter so you should be able to use any 52mm accessories like the macro adapters, other wise lenses or ND filters. I have the Ulanzi now and it fit perfectly on the Profezsion adapter I already had attached, so I think you’ll be totally fine:) The Ulanzi is a cool product in my opinion-I did some testing of it here if you’re interested in some things to be aware of: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dg18IDHjFbs.html Thanks and have an awesome day 👍

@dbvares8745
@dbvares8745 3 года назад
Hey James, great question. Short answer: a lot better than a smartphone, not as good as a more expensive camera with a bigger sensor. Definitely good results possible with a little bit of effort. There a low light test I did here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A_MLeEAp_LE.html And some low light vs the new iPhone 12 at the end of this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZ3msRPd11g.html
