Thanks for the tip! I’m new to video recording and haven’t used any modern cameras other than a phone…but I just started a YT channel and the battery that came with my new camera drains so fast…even when plugged in : / so this is really helpful! I ordered a dummy battery kit! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thanks. I find this incredible stupid from Sony. They have to find a solution, to solve this. Software update, so that when you connect it to a powerbank or whatsoever, that the battery does not charge and that the camera uses automatically the external power!
The Micro-USB method *can* work, I use a HDMI-USB adaptor to plug the ZV-1 into my computer, and a high wattage power adapter to keep the battery topped up. A regular USB port cannot provide enough power! If your adapter is powerful enough, it will actually run entirely over Micro-USB without needing a battery at all. Or you can do what I do, which is keep the battery permanently installed so when I'm not using the ZV-1 as a webcam you can just take it off the stand and it's immediately ready to go
Does your camera go into shoot mode, when in charging because my Sony cybershot in charging only shows gallery I can't shoot in charging mode is thier any solution for that.
Thanks for reaching out. Using the dummy battery solution (continuous power AC adapter) I'm able to shoot with my ZV1 no problem. I don't have any experience of using a cybershot, however the Amazon description does state that it's compatible. So I'd imagine it works in the same way - the battery isn't being charged as such, the camera is just receiving continuous power via something that's the same shape as the battery, so as far as the camera is concerned it just behaves as if the battery is fully charged. Hope that helps.
