My uncle Raymond Tremayne was the racing steward of California and we had many horses run and win at Golden Gate Fields. Thank you so much for this video. It's just priceless!!!! So sad and heartbroken it's closing ! Sincerely , Sandra Tremayne
This was a wonderful racetrack to attend! Very Memorable Races!! Great People, Awesome Staff, Just a all around good time!! It will be sorely missed!!😢😢😢😢😢😢
The turf club was super nice with floor to ceiling glass with private tables and booth. It really was an incredible construction and facility. It will be sorely missed. What a time, what a place, what an experience. Similar thing happened to Hollywood Park. It was an elaborate facility also. A very amazing classy place that was also torn down. It really had that old time elegance. It is all gone now.
Thanks for this grand tour, from a former SoCal horseplayer who never got or took the chance to visit GGF. I guess I was viewer #70 of this inspiring and history-preserving video. Cheers!
Thanks for doing this...Great tour. Never been there, but I have read Bill Barich's great book, Laughing in the Hills: A Season at the Racetrack which takes place there. I was thrilled to see the wall of Lost in the Fog photos and memorabilia; I loved that horse. However, I was surprised to not see more wall space dedicated to the history of the track and the memorable horses and people who worked there. Soon there will only be half a dozen tracks left.
The paddock must be new because the winner's circle was the only thing in front. The old paddock use to be where the entry gate for the track was located to the far right of the grandstand. To the sides of winner circle behind I believe that was the jockey and drivers lounge where they rested and prepared themselves for the next race. The old paddock was a part of the barn area, the track backside.
Quick question do you need a ticket to enter or you can just enter without one it’s because on the website of golden gate fields it says get tickets so I’m not sure if we are allow to enter with a ticket or without one
