* SEC Creators Get Feelings Hurt by Former Oklahoma Linebacker's Criticism of Schools NOT NAMED Georgia or Alabama*
It appears that former Oklahoma great Teddy Lehman hath ruffled a few SEC feathers.
Lehman struck a nerve Thursday on the "Oklahoma Breakdown" when he told co-host and fellow former Sooner Gabe Ikard that the Brent Venables-led Sooners have done just as much as any SEC program not named Alabama or Georgia in the last 3-to-5 seasons.
Lehman's criticism came as a response to the popular practice by SEC pundits of criticizing and undervaluing OU as it enters the league along with Texas for the 2024 season. Get the latest OU football news from the Oklahoma breakdown!

The folk that say Oklahoma won't be able to recruit well enough to compete in the SEC are kidding themselves. For years Oklahoma lost top recruits to bagmen and the lure of playing in the SEC. Those days are over. *OU coaches are already pitching "Come play for the SEC's all-time leading producer of NFL Draft picks."*

Guys all I've heard from SEC media is that OU isn't worth shit! How dare Teddy actually call some teams out and tell em the truth. And OU hasn't done anything either, we just got here, shit we know that. But don't go running your SEC MOUTH without knowing who the hell is coming to dinner at your place... Give us the same amount of respect that we give the SEC. This OU fan base, OU team fears nothing! Blue bloods live for tough ass schedules, man...

The put if the last 4 heisman winners for OU, 3 were 3 stars or lower. Texas always wins the off-season hype race. OU does more with less. The SEC doesn't know this yet, but they will find out over the next few cycles. A&M gets hyped from recruiting classes, but recruiting stars don't mean everything.

In the last 20 years, 6 different SEC teams have won a national championship, Texas, (if you give it to the conference they were in, these numbers are even more skewed in favor of the SEC) Florida, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia. The B1G has 3, USC, (I saw them win it on the field) Ohio State, Michigan. The ACC has 2, FSU and Clemson, and literally no one else has one. The idea that "only Bama and Georgia have done anything" is silly, no one has been more diverse at the top than the SEC. And it's literally double anyone else. (If you give it to the conference they were in it's 5-SEC, 2-B1G and ACC, 1-Big12 and PAC-10) as to the actual thing he said, about the stability, yeah absolutely. Everyone has questions, that's why we play the game on the field.

Auburn and Florida haven't done anything in a aren't projected to do anything soon. Teddy missed the mark on LSU. but his point remains. The SEC is top heavy. Mizzou is a prime example. Do you think Mizzou is going to be more competitive than OU over the next 3 years? Doubtful

@@jtolberg2000 beats me… I think talent wise, A&M is going to be pretty good again, and I also think Elko is a much better coach than Jimbo was, but I don’t think much of Mizzou at all, or their weird little coach, and A&M still has to prove they’re not the same ole Aggie they have always been. Other good coaches have tried and failed to make them worth a crap

Not every conference is low-class and vindictive the way the little 12 is. OU literally carried that conference in football since 2000, giving revenue splits from OUr superior bowl games to every team in that pee-wee league, & they knee-capped us the 1st chance they got. Yormark’s denial of OU’s dominance was insult to on-field atrocities. Their true colors were revealed! I would hope the ACC has more class.

@HOF T. Lehman should have said OU right now has more SEC Hardware w/6 Sugar Bowl Trophies which is better than over 75% of the current SEC Schools who have been in the SEC for over 50-60+ years. The SEC should be thanking OU for giving back the SEC Conf 6 more Sugar Bowl Trophies. Don't even get me started with the 7 NC's OU currently has, which is also better than 99% of the current SEC teams too! But somehow OU has to respect & fear Ole Miss, TN, MO, KY, FL & others. GTHOH!! Most of all, I sure the hell don't fear the defenses of TN, Ole Miss, FL & even Mizzou (1 good yr Don't make u great) too. Both Sark & DeBoer have a history of having lousy defenses too along with Kiffin & even Heupel.. Big deal that they have great offenses. That isn't anything OU hasn't seen before. I stand 100% by what Lehman said!

I find it weird that fans of the also-ran teams of the SEC and especially younger guys on RU-vid like to pretend that the SEC has always been the best league in the country, when the truth is it’s only been the top conference for about 15 years. The SEC had nothing on the Big 8, or the original Big 12 before Nebraska and CU bolted thanks to Texas and the Longhorn network. The idea that Texas is the real jewel of the Red River schools to come to the SEC is an absolute farce, and I’d be dollars to donuts that Oklahoma takes it place at the top of the food chain in the league and Texas ends up somewhere in the middle before very long. Five years or so should do it…

just point these people to mizzou's schedule, texas' conference schedule, etc.. to prove the point. those teams have cupcake conference schedules comparatively. absolutely nobody would be shaking over mizzou's schedule and it's an SEC schedule all the same. we got a tougher one because we've actually won games the past decade. it is what it is. that alone proves the point we want to make though. there's plenty of lightwork teams in this conference.

In my humble opinion, Every team in the SEC is Even. before the Season. Supposedly Ga. is the Best? The reason why Older, Veteran fans have reservations is they. don't put a Whole Lot into Polls, Hype, Pundits. Every Team in the SEC is, on any given Saturday able to Beat, sometimes soundly, any other. There's been an Enormous number of OU games that OU won, but was in doubt until the end of the 4th quarter, even with being a 10-13 pt favorite. Not just "Occasionally" but season after season. Older fans Remember. History should be Remembered or you'll repeat it.

But what Teddy said wasn’t necessarily that OU is better than anyone, it’s that the narratives coming from the middle and lower ranks of the SEC, and from “respected” SEC media members, is ridiculous and slanted to look like OU isn’t capable of competing, and that’s precisely what it’s been like …
