The lead vocals in this song are all Nancy. Ann does the harmonies and counterpoint. For some reason, the producers of the music video had Ann lip-synch to some of Nancy's vocal lines, which can make it rather confusing. Nancy was not completely satisfied with her own singing on this track, as she was just recovering from the flu. But the producer liked the little rasp in her voice, so they decided to keep the take. It was the only Heart song that went to # 1 on the charts.
This song was dedicated to my sister Sharon Hess. She was a lifelong fan of Heart and specifically Nancy Wilson. She died at 21 from leukemia. Interesting story if you care to check it out. Thank you for posting this reaction video, and let’s keep the love alive.

They did a live version of this at a concert at the small. Intimte Paramount Theater in Seattle in 2002...I went...this concert is in my top three concerts, lifetime. ....and I've been to many....just type in these dreams. live in Seattle. Ann also did Alone with only Nancy accompaning on an acoustical guitar at this same concert and it was also put on U-Tube
Absolutely love this band and this is one of my favourite songs of theirs. Nancy Wilson vocals are stunning in this. Top 5 heart songs not in order: In Walks The Night, Barracuda, These Dreams, Black on Black, Te Quedaras (En la Mañana). Although my favourites change regularly.
I'm glad you got to hear one of the songs featuring Nancy's voice! I always thought she didn't get enough credit with Ann usually being in the spotlight, despite being highly rated as one of the be guitarists of her time. Plus this was also their first #1 Hit! 😊 Good one Anton!

I love this song because it’s an opportunity for Nancy to show that can sing lead. I think that Annie has a more powerful voice, but you are correct that their voices are very very similar. Plus, Nancy is a terrific guitarist, somewhat underrated in my opinion, but is touted as one of the best (female) guitarists. Anyways, cheers to Nancy Wilson. ✌🏼😎
Nancy has a little more rasp in her voice. I was so glad when this song was introduced, it allowed Nancy to prove that she could really sing, and not just be one of the greatest guitarists in the world.
Yes, as others have already mentioned, this song features the voice of Nancy Wilson (Blonde guitarist). Ann Wilson (Brunette vocalist) usually does the lead vocals, on 99.99% of Heart's entire music library. However, here, Ann is doing the backing vocals. The producers did do a "slight of hand" by having Ann lip-sync to Nancy's voice in parts of this video. But, rest assured, that it is Nancy who is totally singing the lead, all the way through this song.
Nancy (the blond) sings this. The voice you're hearing is the same one thoughout, they just let Ann mouth parts of it in the video so she's had something to do. But it's all Nancy singing. She has a nice voice but it's nowhere is strong as Ann's and doesn't have the range. You'll never hear Nancy belt out the hard rock and metal songs in Heart's catalogue, just ballads whereas Ann can do both with equal skill.
Unfortunately the 80s was pretty harsh on anyone without the perfect body. Ann was considered "fat" so you'll rarely see full body shots of her. They either shot her from a distance, or tight up close on her face.
Anne Wilson black haired lady., I believe has a much better voice., Like night and day better, Don't get me wrong., Nancy is absolutely fantastic., But Anne Wilson., Is a step above The rest.
