Miklos Nagy I am Catholic too. and i am so sick of the stupid "songs" we sing at Mass these days, with a "song leader" blaring into a microphone. I have NEVER heard anything this beautiful as this Russian chant at Church. The old gregorian chant was a lot better than what we have now, but even that is not as good as the Orthodox chants.

Glory be to God! Im praying for all my family, many here in America who left the Orthodox fold for 3 and 4 generations. I pray they return from Protestantism. I have been among a few in my family are the remnant. I pray for thier release from such lost places. I beseach you lord to bring them home, back to Orthodoxy. I love them so much ro pray for thier return to our faith.
It must have been so breathtakingly beautiful to hear this chants at the Hagia Sophia during the Eastern Roman period, this chants are a testament to the eternal glory of Constantinople the greatest christian city
I am Greek and as far as I know , back then in Constantinople , in Hagia Sophia there were chanted Byzantine Chants . This kind of chant that we heard now is not Byzantine , it is the chant of a more northern country ( still orthodox ofcourse ) . Maybe it is Russian , I am not sure , I don't really know . Surely this way of chant must have been influenced by the Byzantine , but it still sounds more different . This chant sounds more warm , as all the music tradition of the northern countries has a warmer element rather than the southern ( let's say Greece ) . This chant is still very beautiful !

Soothing is correct. Why do I need sleep medications for my sleep issues. I should just listen to this after I crawl into bed. This should not only soothe me, but calm my body, mind and spirit allowing me to sleep peacefully and without worry, while feeling closer to God.🙏

We need to overcome the seperation. I am roman katholic but I sense a profound connection to the orthodox church and music. I would like to join some day a mass to hear these beautiful chants live. Just found this and lay back with my eyes closed listening away. So beautiful. What I am struck by is the simplicity of his voice (if I can say that). His part sounds almost like an Islamic Adhan, and then come in these Christian angels singing from up high. Lovely. Really earthy and sublime at the same time.
