@@federalbureauofinvestigati5588 you’re right I’m saying some people just slip and fall doing nothing but she was climbing to the full moon its beautiful too me . Tragedy nonetheless
i can’t process this at all. She was so underrated and her career was really beginning to take off. Rest In Peace, angel. Thank you for your amazing contributions to both the music industry and trans community 💖
@@lizzywizzy900 same thing for me yesterday the whole day I was listening to Sophie's album and woke up this morning with this news💔 im still in disbelief of her passing may she rest in power 🏳️🌈😭
Still can't believe she's gone...died just for wanting to look at the moon and stars...so cruel and unfair. I hope wherever you are Sophie, that there are beautiful night skies. RIP angel 🖤
@Otto von Tutti you're seriously laughing? do you even care to think about the fact that she was a human being, with a life, a family, and people who loved her? have some respect.
What a tragic loss - truly a fifth dimension creative individual who understood pain and yet loved in spite of it by giving so much to others across all generations - an extraordinary Spirit
"Singer SOPHIE tragically falls to her death while watching the moon in greece.". The fact that her death was something so beautifully tragic astonishes me, as some of her songs cooperate not only in mood but in soul with a born to die theme, or just emits those type of feels. Take "Is it cold in the water?" for instance, the melody is beautiful and slow. Cold and warm. Like a photograph of cold death mixed in a brew of happy moments, portrayed through harmonious lyrics perfectly encrypted to bring tears, give shivers to any who may listen. Sophie will be missed... :(
That's beautiful! I also think of her song "It's Okay To Cry" as an allegorical gift to us for the year. The only way it takes the sting out of losing such a talent at such a young age is that she was following her spirit that compelled her to take risks to reach the goal - just as she did in her art. I do love that.
@@evelynnthedemoness it’s always a shame to lose artists who are on a path to finding their potential & makes me mad that we were robbed. I’ll keep the tongue in cheek sense of humor tho & that helps me smile.
@@peterfrontera5079 exactly, I see how in a way this is a romantic thought, but in all honesty theres nothing beautiful about this. it just sucks, and I doubt it would have been much consolation for her to know she died a beautiful death at the cost of dying at 34. So please don't.
The word icon gets tossed around a lot these days, often given to those who are under serving. Sophie was not one of them. She was an extraordinary talent, a trans hero, and one of the most unique voices in music. I can only hope she left knowing her work touched millions, including me. Rip.
@@ahlishaholloway233 he literally hasnt made music in 2 years, his music was un-influential, it changed literally nothing when it comes to music culture.
@@chumpy1920 Its really hard to call someone "un-influential" if the music/art in question was only made recently. Big Star (particularly Chris Bell and Stintson) and Nick Drake are two very influential musicians but only got acclaim rather later in life when their careers have ended or past their prime. Hell, there are still musicians out there who are very influential to music but are yet to be given proper acclaim and/or respect like Voivod, Die Kruezen, Red House Painters, and Snorre Ruch. SOPHIE is already blessed with a very strong cult following and acclaim in mainstream and less mainstream publications, it shows in how much SOPHIE influenced hyperpop and other avant-garde pop musicians. Being a notable LGBT figure, collabing with notable names like Charli XCX, Madonna and Nikki Minaj, and being nominated a Grammy also helps. So if anything SOPHIE's death might bring SOPHIE more acclaim.
i cant believe this, her music was out of this world, i looked up to her a lot actually, and her intention was so pure, she will always be with us...spiritually.
Was just revisiting Face shopping to discover that she passed away. It's truly heart wrenching. Imagine what fascinating things could've transpired if she were still here with us. We all live on borrowed time, and she lived hers to the fullest, and that's definitely something we can all take with us. RIP Sophie. We love you 💕
@@melissadeloney770 god made people however they are. God knows I’m the way I am and also knows what I’ll become. That’s between them and god at the end of the day.
I really cannot believe this, Sophie was an amazing artist AND producer. I loved her work, especially when she teamed up with Charli XCX, and due to the result of them working together I continued liking (now loving) Charli’s music. I didn't really process it when she died. Now I'm back and devastated. I miss you sophie, know that you had such a huge impact on me and so many others and will live on through your music eternally. There will never be another quite like you. Rest in peace 🖤
@@pseudonymously162 I know you’re not trying to judge someone when this is how you choose to spend your free time. It must be fun to hold so much judgement in your heart that it takes away from where you lack as a person because your so busy policing other people’s lives. Transgender people asking to be referred as their preferred pronoun is not hurting or inconveniencing you. You just choose to be hateful instead of being united with people who are different from you. Ugly af.
Feeling gutted, I wasn't a die-hard fan but I liked a lot of Sophie's music. It was special you know and some of it was quite uplifting as well. I was looking forward to watching Sophie develop and what was in store for their career. This feels way too abrupt. 😔
I was shocked to hear about this. I always thought she was a very talented producer. My heart goes out to her family and friends. We’ve lost another very gifted artist.
"Alongside the statement, SOPHIE's team requested pronouns are not used in this article and we refer only to the artist by the name SOPHIE." from the mixmag article
Came here to see 2 things: tributes and transphobia. Just want to remind you that SOPHIE preffered not be called with gendered or non-binary pronouns. R.I.P.
people are just so insensitive and can't even respect a death of someone so crucial to the current music world and those that mourn her death. upsetting
Maybe I'm reading different sources and maybe she/they changed their mind. But from what I've read, and I've followed Sophie for a couple of years, she was open about being a trans woman and used she/her pronouns. I may have it wrong, and will happily stand corrected. But either way, it is very sad news
I can’t believe It...I am truely devastated. I wish we had more time with this incredible space goddess. Rest in peace Sophie, your music will never be forgotten.
E! Thank you for such a respectful and kind report regarding Sophie's passing. It's never certain how a mainstream outlet would report on a trans artist and this was deserving of her legacy.
I can't believe this...was literally listening to her music when the news popped up on the daily mail. I was hyped to see her on the news but was heartbroken when I saw it said she had passed. This is so weird to process.
someone dies tragically young and all some idiots can think to do is smear a complete stranger's identity. is a little humanity and compassion beyond you people?
If she died because of an illness or an unavoidable accident, that would be one thing, but she did this to herself. I wouldn't be surprised if her tiny head was filled with drugs at the time, but even if it wasn't, if you climb the outside of a building to get a better look at the moon, you've only yourself to blame when you inevitably fall. I just can't feel sorry for someone so bloody stupid. I find it easier to sympathize with her parents. They must be blaming themselves now...
@@SpaceCattttt They're not worshipping her, they're grieving. Dude... we all know that climbing to precarious positions is dangerous. No one needs you to tell them that. That is evident, that was always evident and it's very evident now.
@@SpaceCattttt So what you're saying is that we shouldn't talk about someone who positively influenced many people in respect, and we should instead mock her death?
Sophie made history as one of the three first openly transgender women to be nominated for a Grammy, and according to Pitchfork preferred not to use gendered or nonbinary pronouns....... and became the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for a Grammy who didn't use gendered or nonbinary pronouns - to fall off a roof while trying watch the moon.

@@c2ytano she will always be considered a loving legend, inspiring millions of musicians in mainstream and underground while you remain a nameless, loser
I don’t believe thats how they died. How is the label going to say they don’t know how they really passed, then release an explanation like that. I recently just heard of SOPHIE & their music is amazing. I just want to see them get right justice
Actually it was common for them to look at the night sky and they were trying to take a picture of the moon. Slipping and falling to your death is more common than people think and I’ve almost died from it myself before. They do have justice it’s just people wanna make conspiracies

OH MY GOD, WHAT THE F. I just got into her music, she was a creative genius and one of the most innovative producers out there... I can't believe this.
"True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell." I used to enter a "state of spirituality" when I went to music festivals back in the day. Sometimes I'd see the moon (even if it wasn't actually visible) but I never climbed up onto anything high.
I've been in shock over this for hours. It just doesn't seem real. You changed the world, Sophie. You were a beautiful woman and will be dearly missed.
Mad to say this but if she was a mega star transgender why wasn't she in music news? Never heard of her until now. There needs to be more diversity in the music world and to say she wrote songs for Madonna and that she must have been pretty big. But as I said, NOTHING in the media. Sad. Rest in peace.
