Wow, Sophie. That window was really banged up. The new window is so beautiful. I enjoyed every minute of this video. Love your artistry. Even the rubbing is beautiful.
Good tutorial. I enjoyed it. I like buying old broken stained glass windows when they come up cheaply and use the old glass into something new. Leaded light patterned glass goes a long way. Mostly from the 30/40's. James
Hi Sophie, any tips on removing small broken pieces of glass and replacing without breaking down complete panel? I have two very old vicorian panels that I'm hoping to add some size to by adding a glass border but I also have a couple of internal pieces that are cracked. It's old and delicate but I'm sure once fixed and cemented with be beautiful again. Thankyou for helping me on my journey. X
These two videos show two slight different approaches to repairing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xC5pSdjNMWg.html. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uCD6mt72JzY.html If the broken pieces are in the middle you will need to do a certain amount of dismantling. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
It wouldn't have matched the other panels. Also, I like to keep things faithful to the original. 1930s windows often use flat lead. Plus I can't get round lead easily in that width. Lead that width is very strong so no need to change anything.
