Absolutely love this channel, found it about a year ago during junior year and was able to raise my act score by 2 points. Just finished applying to all my colleges and this channel helped so much, seriously look forward to these videos!!!
My counselor gave me my final schedule for my junior year and all of my courses are dual credit through a community college. Yay for challenging courses
I’m a sophomore and so far this year I have a 3.8 GPA and I have worked my way from JV Tennis to Varsity. I got 3rd at state for mixed doubles. I also am taking Spanish classes and extra math through a local college in my city. I’m going to keep working though and really find something I can do that will make me more desirable for colleges I just haven’t figured it out yet.
@@stale.baguette Super late, but I'd really recommend for you to look at the college admissions file or reach and wild card videos for schools you'd like to go to. (They have things like ratings in different things like ec's, academics, athletics, interviews, etc)
So basically, the Sophomore checklist is: 1) Get involved in your community and school and try to excel in your interests 2) Look out for opportunities to start something and be entrepreneurial (ex. starting a club in or out of school) 3) Seek out opportunities that match you future career goals so that you're around people that can help you better develop the skills you need in that career 4) Get A's and STUDY STUDY STUDY 5) Immerse yourself in academic challenges over the summer and during the school year 6) Talk to your parents/other adults about your goals for college and sort out everything so that everyone is on the same page 7) Take the PSAT or/and practice ACT so that you're aware of where you're at and what areas you need to improve in 8) Create a test prep calendar so that you can get an early start in preparing for taking either the SAT or the ACT at the beginning of your junior year (This gives you a lot of time to prep if you want to really raise your scores from the practice SAT/ACT) 9) Build your reading skills, writing skills, and vocabulary skills by doing a lot of practice through reading and vocabulary cards (Also read real-world texts to have a better idea of current events and what's going on in society so that you can develop perspective and be more informed which will help you in your college essays)
exo jongdee That doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a straight A student just to get into an ivy league. You can still get into Stanford if you find another way to stand out in the application process.

It depends on the college you want to go to. Some colleges don't take college credit from certain other colleges. In general if you plan on staying in state do dual credit/ dual enrollment if you plan on going out of state do AP/IB. Even so check with the school you want to go to.
as a sophomore I'm taking the ACT this year,I took algebra 1 my 8th grade year (school offers an advanced curriculum) geometry freshmen year and algebra 2 first semester of this year so I'm taking the ACT at the end of this semester

i’m taking two AP classes as a sophomore at a competitive private school with a gpa of 3.4 from freshman year unweighted. i take three terms of varsity sports, and i plan to enter model un or another club when club fair begins. i also plan on getting a job once it is legally allowed. what can i work on? (other than my grades, i know they need to be raised over this year drastically)
Rashel Lara or on why staying in state isn't a bad idea. If it's the same level of education, there's no reason to go out of state, it'd just cost you more money for no reason
Jillian not inherently I personally would love to go out of state it can allow for more independence and also for you to experience a different environment often the different state to state can be really drastic you might find you like it better
If I have a 3.6 unweighted gpa as a sophomore, will that effect my application in prestigious schools. Hypothetically speaking If I ace my two next years.
David Morales yes it’s competitive but at the school the gpa is unweighted. French II A reg. Algebra II B+ -> A- honors. Speech A English B --> B+ honors AP US history B+ -> A- Theology B+ -> A- Chemistry A- honors Arrows representing the highest grade I can get before end of semester
Amadeus Mozärt oh dang my system is different a regular course 90-100 is an A for an honors course a 85-105 is also an A but honors is worth 4.5 and regular is worth 4.0
Hi , I just bought almost all the books recommended by you for the ACT, But how do I start studying them?Should I read the Red Book introduction or not read it at all and use it just for its tests?Should I start off by reading through one subject book or read a bit of each book everyday?When should I start taking practice tests?I really need help making a study plan!

I watched your Sophomore video where it talked about “Study Calendars”. Do you have any resources that are like a curriculum for the ACT that are free/low cost? I have been using Kahn Academy from my PSAT score for studying and enjoy that (figure I should switch to the ACT studying instead of SAT)
If my average mark is 9.4 what's my GPA ( I'm an international student from Romania and I have no idea how to calculate my GPA) ? Can you call someone from UCLA to talk about how they get in?
Emanuel's world the best GPA is a 4.0, I believe it is possible to get above that but if you go out and do well on your tests you will be able to apply to almost any collage and get accepted depending on your outside activities
NOT THAT ANYONE CARES: 4.23 GPA 7 honors 5 regular and 1 AP (3 semesters working on my last semester of sophomore year 2 AP 1 Honors and 1 Regular) Robotics team 9th and 10th Art club 10th FBLA 10th Tennis 10th I also have a part time job since the beginning of 9th grade through weekends
