I love how easy it is to follow and/or adapt your own way to. Even if i just use contrast, its so amazing to see which steps to do in what order and what the goal of each step is.
These are such amazing videos. I followed the lotr journeys when I first got into boardgames and painting and Gimli is still the best/favourite model I've ever done. Thank you I can't wait to start painting up my oathsworn soon. You're the best!
I love this game! I was able to demo it prior to release and it's been so much fun. Love this character and can't wait to see more from you! Well done!!
@@Sorastro Absolutely, he has some really cool 2H and dual wield weapons, I think more than any other character. Can't wait for the rest of your guides for Oathsworn :)
It's one thing to watch you work and learn from your techniques but another thing entirely to determine what colours to use and what proportions to mix those colours in. How on earth do you decide to mix paint A with paint B? Many of your choices are not in the least bit obvious to me. To use 16 different paints for one miniature leaves me gasping! I guess that's why you're teaching and I'm learning. Excellent work, as always.
Hi, what a stunning paintjob! And great video! Love the way you show what steps you take to get this amzing result. I hope i get at least a fraction of the redult ehen i start painting it. 😅 I see only 2 characters painted. Did you paint the rest also? I love to see the videos of those too. Do you know Eldfall Chronicles? Thise miniatures are gorgious to paint.😉
Thank you very much, sir! I've only painted two so far, but will be painting more soon (the Witch is up next)... I confess I haven't heard of that one 😀
Thanks a lot! I'm also waiting for the upgraded components from the last KS to arrive; really looking forward to getting enough minis painted to start playing.. 😀
As I am colourblind, I rely so much on your tutorials . Will you be doing tutorials for the other oathsworn heroes especially the ranger? If so, I may wait to paint them until you’ve uploaded them. Thanks so much for all your amazing content
Hi there! I'll initially be painting 4-5 heroes - just enough for my gaming group to get our campaign going, and one of them will indeed be the Ranger! I'll cover her next if you like 🙂
@@Sorastro oh yes please. That is the toughest mini for most painters to work out I suspect. It is for me anyway. I got my copy today 👍 Thanks for the prompt response
Actually, you absolutely can follow along. I started following Sorastro to learn to paint Descent 2nd Edition minis, then Imperial Assault. Now I'm following his Kingdom Death Monster guides. Before all that I had never painted a mini in my life. Just follow along and do your best. If there is a part that is clearly beyond your skill level just revert to what you know. For example I'm not too interested in painting non-Metalic metal like the Axe head. So when I paint this, it will be the tried and true, Leadbelcher > Nulon Oil > Ironbreaker > Stormhost silver version. But all the hair, and everything else I'm willing to give it a go. Sorastro's videos are so detailed, all you need to do is pause and rewatch. Follow him stroke for stroke.
Thanks for this! I do feel that 90% of how far we develop as a painter is down to our mental attitude, and not being afraid to try new things (and to fail!) and push ourselves beyond our abilities.. 🙂
Oh don't get me wrong, this is an amazing video. My comment was mostly set up to compliment the skill and laugh at my own lack of skill, nothing more. As for the video, I think the structure is also one of the best I've seen to follow along and pick up on how to have similar results. @@Sorastro
Thank you! Hmm, all of my grass tufts have gotten mixed up, but think I mainly used the "tiny tufts" by Gamer's Grass, and maybe some that were a little longer at 4mm perhaps, and colours from the darker end of the range. 🙂
Hi! NMM means "non-metallic metal" which is just a style of painting where we create metallic effects using non-metallic paints. 🙂 I'm not sure I understand your second question, but I primed the figure in black with the airbrush 😀
Can I pay you a large some money for a guide to every character? I absolutely adore your work. I just received my game (2nd edition) and hope to paint them all. But I don’t want to touch them until I see your guide first.
Ha ha, thank you! I am actually working on the next episode very soon. If you'd like to help support the work, Patreon is how I manage to pay my bills 😁 www.patreon.com/Sorastros
@@Sorastro I will. I actually watch your videos a few times even without painting just to get used to your techniques and methods. Also the music and production is stellar. Are you going to do the encounter bosses too? I know that might be tricky with spoilers. But I need to get that big rat (from the box) painted asap!
@@shaynegrieve Thanks! And absolutely I will be painting the monsters! I'm planning to cover a few more heroes first, then paint the giant rat, so I can actually get the game to the table 😁
How do you approach painting bosses in terms of spoilers? Do you paint them before starting the campaign with your friends and therefore spoil the reveal for yourself, or do you play the game with unpainted bosses to avoid spoilers?
Wait, wait--Mod Podge can be used to fill gaps? I didn't know that! Most everything I've tried to use to that end always falls short. As usual, you make NMM look so easy--I still have a horrible time wrapping my head around it!
Great video. Thanks for the wonderful job you’re doing! Quick question: do you varnish miniatures like this one and could you recommend a nice Matt varnish? I was using testors dullcote but I think they changed a formula or something cause it turns out satin at best, definitely not Matt. I’ve tried 3 different cans, shaking them like crazy, good temperature etc. nothing helps.
Thank you! Ah yes - these days I use the AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish - works like a charm (applied either with a brush, or through an airbrush) 🙂
Fantastic job done. Also nice to see someone working with the scale artist colors as wel. Do you experience any difference between the scale artist ink and normal ink e.g inktensity or vallejo game inks?
@@Sorastro thanks. I have the inktensity. And recently bought the artist pains. But u doubt about the ink, had the feeling it isn’t that much of a difference (and can spent that better on Liquitex ink)
Hi! Generally I like to use NMM techniques when painting individual hero-type models, but I might use true metallics when painting units of orcs etc... :)
Hi! Yep, I use Rosemary and Co brushes (there are links in the video description), and you can see me talk a bit about my brushes here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qW0fpSkgwLA.htmlsi=7By35BnDBJkcTkW5 :)
