I want to see them try the same test with the egg on it's side. An egg is remarkably strong from the top, especially if you have a specialized mold designed specifically to spread the load like theirs.

You are hammering on the egg along its highest strength axis. Try doing the same thing with the egg oriented with its long axis perpendicular to the impact vector.

You guys ever thought about making a Motorcycle Helmet with this inside? I recently got in a wreck and my helmet did an ok job but i think with this on the inside of a carbon fiber shell we could achieve high impact cranial saves!

There's other systems better suited for it out there esp in regards to weight sorbothane is pretty heavy and you prob wouldn't want it over your head for long periods of time. There are other safety and crash mitigation systems built into high end helmets that improve safety and comfort without so much compromise on weight.

The main reason it isn't is helmets do not need to dampen, just absorb shock and just one time. Sorbothane does absorb but it also dampens, it's also heavy meaning that helmet would be very uncomfortable and likely contribute to inertia related neck injuries in a crash.

I want to develop noiseless shoes/boots. I wonder if I can use sorbothane to create the sole of my noiseless boots. Or if sorbothane wears too easily to make the soles out of maybe you guys have a tougher material that acts the same way that sorbothane does?

I live in a place where there's a lot of vibration and shock that wakes me up. I bought two pads of sorbothane from Amazon and put under the legs of my bed and much to my surprise I found it to be completely useless. I'm able to get better results with bits of rubber. Modern expensive useless shit.

It probably has a lot to do with application and you probably have to get the pad size optimized for the amount of weight your using. A small three quarter inch pad is only rated for 1-3lbs. If you exceed that, the more weight, the less effective it will be. You have to use common sense. I used 4 small pads for sound isolation on a turntable, and when measured on my computer, the effect has been fantastic.
