when this card was spoiled, I was kinda meh at extus, but soooo excited to see someone go nuts with the Blood Avatar. Glad to see it happen, really appreciated the breakdown!

The super interesting thing about this card is that you can quite easily make *both* sides have neat synergy with each other in an aristocrats deck ! If your aristocrats pay-off creatures or token producers get killed, you can cast Extus and a few cheap spells to reload. And if you're properly set-up, you can deliver the finishing blow(s) with Blood Avatar !

People don't take into account the likely hood someone wastes spot removal or a counter on the token or the commander spell that's so easily reccurred

Very interesting deck. Assemble the Legion is probably a little slow but it seems like this is a great deck for it. I think it might be better for this deck than Outlaws Merriment because Merriment never gives more than one token by itself.

Wouldn't damage doublers make this soo much easier. Fiery Emancipation or Torbran or Quest for the Pure Flame

Alternatively, have a Worldgorger Dragon loop which satisfies the aim but with a lot less steps :P For real, that's a pretty nice approach!

Ive been playing this deck for 2 weeks now and I have to tell you its become my favorite one to play. Ive made some modifications but never the less thank you for this wonderful video! I was wondering how you feel about populate in this deck

@@CommanderMechanic How do you feel about Determined Iteration? Or more importantly Ghired's Belligerence if we have an avatar out and say 4 of our 1/1 creatures thats 6 mana for 4 more avatars or 8 if we have procession :)

Or just kill your opponents with the tokens. Seems wasteful doing it this way just to force using the sorcery

a couple suggestions to consider: 1: currently, your list has 12 Sunforger targets. (technically 13, but secure for 0 seems bad without token makers) I know it means giving up a bit of mana, but having access to things like fury storm from the deck is something to consider. 2: speaking of copying, both twinning staff and double vision feel at home here, just helping you squeak out a little extra value. 3: I know this version focuses on the blood avatar, but consider if opponents have 6+ artifacts/enchantments out the following: play/have in play Extus, cast dockside, get 6+ treasure. Cast Worthy cause with buyback, sacrificing dockside to cost. Magecraft triggers, letting you target dockside from the yard. recast dockside, repeat. also potentially infinite death triggers

I agree with those inclusions but the initial list is VERY low to the ground - almost a cEDH level of streamlined. I think there's room to inflate the deck a bit if you're expecting the game to go longer but this is all about HOW MANY TIMES and HOW FAST.

@@CommanderMechanic that is fair. That said, I make the argument it creates an over reliance on anointed procession. If that dies, we have a pretty big issue. I'm actually looking to fuse this with my friends extus list, who has a bit more focus on the creature half, as well as a tiny bit of my own spice. (He thought of the janky worthy cause combo) Neither of us had thought of fury storm, which is hilariously bonkers with blood avatar. Reguardless, loved the deck tech, and can't wait for the next one

What about populate cards that white gives you access to? More tokens for a fraction of the cost and/or without having to recast the sorcery. Also, some of them put tokens on the board as well, giving you even more blood to build avatars with.

I found that the card ghireds belligerence works really well for this as you will usually have token 1/1s to sac but if you use the card and divide x damage between your tokens for each one that died you get to populate x. So with awaken the blood avatar already on the board you get to copy him a bunch ton

Pitiless pluder Anointed procession Wayward servant Gravecrawler Ashnod's altar You sack the Gravecrawler to the altar to have infinte mana from the pluder n infinte ping damage from Wayward servant
