Sorcery is doing everything right. It’s going to be one of those games that creeps in popularity. It doesn’t need to be like the other card games because it’s not. One set a year is fine. Screw the instant gratification mindset. Save, plan, and prepare for each year’s set. Patience is a lost virtue nowadays.

Yeah, this is great. Jesse is a good get, and should provide quality content for them. Really great to see Sorcery moving to create content for the game. A lot of indie TCGs just expect the community to lift that entire load and it's bad form. Now I just want Sorcery to develop an event kit for stores to have some sort of promo/prize for casual league play.

Flyers can block better now! Look at the 2024 rules update. Low supply is a GOOD thing. Your current collection won't go to zero anytime soon. Your customers' collections won't go to zero anytime soon. Look at what the Sorcery team has learned from MetaZoo's failures. You are correct that the Sorcery team hiring new people and updating the rules is a good sign of things to come.

Good to hear they are updating their game rules. I remember watching some gameplay a while back and found the templating of card effects to be inconsistent and left wriggle room for different interpretations, and that's not good for organized play.

The chief complaints I've heard around Sorcery are 1 concern about gameplay and 2 concern about the release cycle. Below I rambled off a list of questions around these topics that I want to hear about from others: Are there lively play groups forming? Is the game complex in a way that you enjoy? Are you in it for the collection? Does Sorcery need a competitive circuit or league to survive? Are players (young or old) willing to come back into 6-12 months for a new set? Is ~400 cards big enough for that wait time? Do you wish there were more cards to let you play on the opponent's turn? Is it like a board game and is that a bad thing?

Also enjoy getting enough time to go deep into the set. At one point however I hope to see a main set release in May and a smaller set in November (for example)

Of course you have to make rules tweaks and adjustments. It’s expected imo. I think they need more. There are some critical things I think need to be tweaked but they clearly don’t think it’s a problem as it stands.

I don't mind the dead zone because it gives me time to collect the cards. Not everyone has lots of money to spend on hobbies, so I can try to complete a set over a year rather than 3 months.

I love the art and the concept of the game. But I agree, it needs at least two full sets and one mini set a year. The mini like what Crucible of War was to FAB.

I feel like they need an animated series to step it up. Create a lore. That’s what I think it needs to reach out to a wider audience plus it would help explaining the game mechanics in an easier way.

Why not? They are pacing themselves with a slow roll out of one set per year. The more they can weather the negativity and people clamoring for restocks, the better they will do long term. A Reserved List isn't a guarantee of success. MetaZoo had a Reserved List and look what happened. Sorcery's only hope is to ignore 95% of the requests for more product. I am cautiously optimistic. I'll buy enough beta cards to play. Not buying into the more expensive foil rares. If my Sorcery collection goes to zero, I'll still have a few fun decks to play.

The amount of experience and investment by the Sorcery team tells me the exact opposite. Not too mention it's a much better and deeper TCG than most with just a single set.

@@CardboardGuide If I can get product with ease so can the LGS. I think you mean they can't flip it for easy money. They can still hold events and not make money on the boxes. The people in their stores can still buy other products/accessories they carry. If they were wise they would do it just to gauge interest. After which they can contact sorcery with an intent to preorder their next set with a requested amount of boxes. If many stores do this I suspect sorcery will be very inclined to fill their box requests for their next set.
