It grows tall with little effort, producing copious amounts of above and below ground biomass. What's not to like? You can check out all of my books and products for gardeners at this link: www.planetwhiz...
Are you planting Sudan Grass again this year? I planted some next to Millet to see which I prefer. I planted Millet (2) years ago. I liked it. How is your soil this year where the Sudan Grass was?
I did not get around to planting my Sudex this year. I was too busy killing rats from a foreclosed rehabbed property across the street. I planted cabbage and collards today. I killed the rats with a rodenticide, Havoc I got from Amazon and I have (12) old fashioned Victor rat traps coming. The rats got into our second garage and ate the cereal rye seeds. I was keeping it as hay for my domestic rabbit. I planted buckwheat between the cabbage rows. This is my go to summer cover crop. I like it bc it has a hard seed that survives winter so it is a good investment. What is it that you do not like about cereal, winter rye? It did leave a tough stubble after I cut it with my hedge trimmers early this spring. I suspect that stubble has decomposed this summer? I will have to check. I did not have problems with the allelopathic properties of it. I have new roses growing there now.
