Six years later, how the table has turned

You know you're a Sonic fan when you talk about how IGN was wrong about Sonic always being bad for 5 minutes and one of the first things you talk about is Janeel White of all things. Not the games. Not the movies. Or the stories or gameplay. Just Janeel White

Sonic may not have had the best selling games compared to the likes of Mario, but the franchise's influence can't be denied. You don't see that many people making Mario OC's on DeviantArt. That's a weird way to put it, but Sonic's influence on young people was and is profound. There were many more cartoons, movies, etc. than Mario ever had. Nintendo is obsessed with keeping its brand safe and controlled; they tend not to risk making licensed material like this. Until recently again with the Mario movie. I'm not sure what Brian's bar for a "truly great franchise" is but Sonic, despite its low points, seems like it should meet that bar.

This is truly Sonic's redemption arc.

Now that explains the Sonic Pocket Adventure getting a 10/10

IGN has finally reached the end of their character arc for Sonic.

Akeem was hilarious.

The games took a dip in quality for a long time. IGN rated the Dreamcast games really well. Those games earned it. But Heroes/Shadow/2006 put a bad taste in their mouths. RU-vid had some harsh reviews too. That was known as the dark era for a reason.

You aren't fooling anyone with this IGN, Don't think that we don't remember. Because we do.

Sounds to me like the positive reception of Frontiers made IGN squirm a little and say, “We gotta say something to bounce back or we’re gonna look bad. We never lived that Sonic Bash session down”.
