A quick tutorial. Song just came out and I wanted to give people a resource to learn it quickly. There will probably be a better tutorial coming out from someone else but hope this helps.
I almost didnt even search for a tutorial because I figured there was no way someone put one out this soon for such a (relatively) small band. You're a legend, thanks man!
The Band CAMINO I only recently discovered but their music legitimately got me to pick up my guitar again and play seriously for the first time since high school. Thank you so much for such a great tutorial! I’m not great at finger picking but as soon as this song dropped I knew I needed to learn it. Very helpful visuals and explanations!
Here is the exact picking pattern for the bridge. I should have spent more time going over this in the video: This is exactly what he is doing. If you follow this step by step (starting slow and then speeding it up) it will sound exactly the same: 1. Picking (base note with thumb and lower note with pointer finger simultaneously) 2. SLAP 3. Pick first note with middle finger 4. Pick Base note with Thumb (this step is optional but it sounds a lot better in my opinion if you add this) 5. Pick second note with pointer finger 6. SLAP and then you just REPEAT 1-6 over and over again regardless of the chord formation that your left hand will be doing. The bass notes and lower notes might differ, but the picking sequence in 1-6 is exactly the same. Over time you start to get this nice rhythm and it just takes practice. Again, start slow. Follow steps 1-6 exactly and it will eventually sound perfect.
thanks for making this tutorial! I enjoyed learning this song, really creative riff. mostly appreciate how fast you did this video considering it just got out!
thanks for putting this out! great video. i couldn't have imagined that there was even a tutorial video out for this, i was trying to figure it out by myself!
can't find a lot of good tutorials for this band. Love their music and wish I could learn more of their songs on the guitar. You should make them! This one was really good.
I’ve figured out the rest of the song besides the bridge. I went through the comments and saw your additional comments but I’m still having some trouble understanding how you’re playing it and specifically what notes and strings you’re hitting with the fingering you described. Could you please make another video or add some kind of tabs for it?
Love this! I want to sing my own version of this song to my mom for Mother's Day, but I can't play the guitar. Would you be able to record a music only version of this song? 💕
What's the story behind your OM-28JM? Like how did you get to aquire it? Did it cost you an arm and a leg back then? (Nowadays, it costs anywhere from 12k-15k in the used market...if you can actually find one for sale)
Wonderful video! Any chance you could put out an instrumental cover? I’d love to sing over some guitar but can’t find any out there with just instrumentals.
I know there is a way to strip a song right off of RU-vid and get just the instrumentals or vocals only. I just watched a youtube video of someone doing it like last week I just can't what the video was called. I'll see if I can find it but you might find a way to do it just with a google search. Looks like a just searched on google and there are a few options.
love this tutorial, and i’m working on learning the song, but i’m having a hard time figuring out exactly what you’re doing for the picking pattern in the bridge section. any way you could help me out would be greatly appreciated!
I don't have time to make a video, but here is a logical explanation that I should have added into the video. This is exactly what he is doing.
