Prince I'm obviously a white guy from the U.S. and worked in China for eleven years from 2008 until the end of 2019 and would work there two months on and two months back in the U.S. and then back to China and so on. I worked in many major cities and some very small and met literally hundreds of different women. I'm 6'5" and about 245lbs in good shape so I stuck out like you. I was 36 when I started going there. I dated many women there from 25yrs old to 40 yrs old, and had four serious relationships with some beautiful women. I will tell you I met quite a few Chinese parents in those years and I too was shut down by the parents a couple times because I was not Chinese. In the beginning I was in Guangzhou where a lot of Africans live and work and go to school. I made a few good friends from Africa in those days who I'm still friends with who have come to my home by the beach here in San Diego California. My chinese girlfriend at the time would never go out with me and them in Guangzhou and I remember asking her why she wouldn't go. I was truly shocked to find out how prejudice some people in China are even against darker skinned Chinese people. As I'm sure your aware of many of the women buy skin whiting products because they say white skin is more beautiful and it shows the class level in there society. She told me the darker the Chinese skin the more you work outside. Personally I saw different skin colors depending on the region of China you were in such as the white Cantonese. Enough about that. For this to work… Fan Fan has to be willing to think for herself. I explained it to my wife when we were dating, she graduated a year and a half ahead of me and was expected to go back to Japan. I told her that she needs to make her own decision. Her parents won’t always be there… they’re going to die someday and you’ll still be here living life. Is that life going to be full of regrets from the choices you didn’t make because you just did whatever your parents wanted? If you go back to Japan, long distance relationships across the world are hard. There is a good chance of it not working. If you stay… your family will be upset with you and may not speak to you for a long time. She chose to stay and after I graduated we moved to Japan, I met her family and they loved me. Together almost 30 years now. Will the same thing happen with Fan Fan? There are no guarantees it will, but the ball is in her court. She has to decide her life… if she has the courage to push back against her family and take her chances. As much as she says she can’t go against them, that is actually a pretty narrow or short-sighted viewpoint.
