As someone who's watched these guys for a while, there is a nonzero chance that when they see the Emperor, they're gonna convince themselves that he's a stand-in for Jinshi for the sake of public appearances
I hope they actually don't think that the actual emperor is a stand-in cause If so at that point the editors or someone in the discord needs to tell them Jinshi isn't the emperor. It wouldn't be funny at that point and quite sad
That's... that's surprinsingly on brand for them. I love their reactions and I love this anime, so I am going to love this reaction overall, but if they keep this theory of theirs until the end of the show, that will be painful... *Vietnam flashbacks to Heavenly Delusion and other similar incidents*
It's actually the stupidest reason imagineable- but totally on brand for Caleb. Caleb unironically says "He threats the concubines not being loyal to the emperor seriously... So that must mean he's the emperor! "
Wow, they never figured out that Jinshi wasn't the emperor on their own, and the show had to explicitly explain it to them. And even with that, they're still trying to convince themselves he's the emperor. Guys, he's been interacting with the royal concubines, the women who've slept with the emperor and borne him children. If Jinshi were the emperor-in-hiding, the concubines at least would have easily been able to identify the man they've been having sex with. Please, this isn't rocket science.
Ok, so now it's returned to the good ol' journey of figuring out Jinshi's identity. With a somewhat different starting point. Edit: Btw they explicitly talk about the beautiful eunuch and call him an eunuch during the first episode guys. "nothing was mentioned" is craaaaazy lmfao anyway, it doesn't matter.
Show: Wow, this lady tied to sleep with a man who was not the emperor. That's fucked. I better test if that's actually what she wants and thus needs to be thrown out for her disloyalty. Brothers: She tried to seduce the emperor, so now he's going to make her prove her loyalty to him by seducing her back! Gotta love how they took black and interpreted it as white.
"I bet people didn't get the 3 times joke..." Actually, I think you guys didn't. The joke is that the emperor is such a beast in bed that she shudders to think if he lasted 3 times longer than usual; not the size
@@user-sh9ww1yk1y The concubine specifically mentioned "duration" when initially commenting on Maomao's "three times" statement. Meaning the show very clearly worded the joke to refer to time, not three times the size or hardness
@@gorkil1245 wasnt the line something like "you mean the duration, right?" it most definitely sounds like someone wondering whether it could be that or something else. maybe it really wasnt intended that way but it definitely gives that impression, is my point. even then i still thought they went too far with assuming shes not very educated and thought he might get a horse instrument. its funny how they always seem to be wildly off on the simplest things, but then predict other more important things clearly.
@@gorkil1245 It's been a while since I watched it, but I'm pretty sure in the dub she didn't say "duration" and just reacted with "three times?", making it more open for interpertraton.
@@eddmario At 12:54 she mentions duration in response to Maomao. She thinks it questioningly, but it's still her initial reaction. So I'd say that's how the show wants the viewer to interpret it
the over-analyzing of the "testing the concubines' loyalty" is so crazy to me. do they fr think the emperor would have time seducing thousands of concubines using a fake identity?😭😭😭
It is always impressive how the SoS Bros can be either looking like they read the anime's script and perceives the ins-and-outs of things to come, or die on a hill that is not even in the same country of the anime... No in-betweens! Hopefully we can get rid of the later in this anime at some point, but they sure are working hard on keeping it...
Something the anime never gets to but is funny. When the Emperor makes a visit the... activities... need to be recorded so that they can reference the conceptions date to the birth and ensure it's the Emperor's kid. So Maomao has met the guy. She's less embarrassed hearing those noises than the others since she grew up in a brothel so often convinces the head lady in waiting to just let her supervise for her mental health.
Just an observation, but if Jinshi is in fact the emperor, then the interaction with the random concubine at night doesn't make sence. Not only did she call him "Master Jinshi" which implies either clasic structural authority, or more likely, respect towards someone more educated, instead of "My emperor" or "Your highness" or literally anything else. Master seams fitting the his title we learned in episode 1; The enuch supervisor of the palace. Also, If he was the emperor, shouldn't she recognize him? I mean, she should have seen him at least once, if she's his concubine. If not privately, then in any ceremony or celebration?
Well here's the thing, I'm not defending them, but they might not know about how CN culture work so it's fair to assume by how they called Jinshi. BUT, that being said there's literally the easiest way to know he is not the Emperor, How Jinshi is not interact at all with "his" kid, and not interact in the way he is cold to them, but the show doesn't emphasis any scene that they are his kid. This kinda show love to emphasing things quite clearly, from the gaze to how some characters randomly having twitch in their face so audience know there is something.
I like these guys and I want to watch their reactions/discussions, but it’s so frustrating when there’s such a big, stubborn misunderstanding of the plot from the very beginning 😭???? Guys please the show literally explained who these characters are in the story already. multiple times.
If they still think Jinshi is the emperor until the whole series ended, please someone just spoil them to end the misery lol. One of the reasons why I like anime mysteries done right like this one. You wouldn't know what is going on or what will happen next, who to trust, who is not, what's their background, what were their intentions.
1:52 also about her "glow up" : the bros and some others might not realize but this style of clothing is actually kind of lewd. A well-to-do lady should not be exposing her midriff like that in this time period xD This, along with the lyrics of the OP, has a lot more to do with Maomao's roots and where she comes from : ) [keeping it vague so no spoilers]
that Jinshi is an acutal Eunuch is really hard to believe tbh bc it is so obvious that hes the Male Lead, that can be easily sussed out through Meta knowledge but everything else, like that hes the Emperor doesnt really have any basis :D
I'm not sure if anybody realises but he intentionally seduced her in front of the other women so that their jealousy would make them take closer look at her actions. This means if she ever did something wrong, one of them would report to him just to get rid of a supposed "rival".
I love how the snake sees her arm and goes like "WTF! Ooh hell no I'm not putting that in my mouth" and MaoMao presses snakes fangs against her arm against snake's will😂😂😂
They're picking up on the fact that there is something *up* with Jinshi but the conclusion is wrong. I understand why you'd discard the text to think that, but if he really was the emperor there's no way in hell he'd be so involved with the harem. It's explicitly not his job and he has much more important affairs to get up to during the day. Jinshi spends way too much time at the inner palace to plausibly be the emperor.
Looks like this anime is close to Square Enix version manga, illustrated by Neko-kurage san. Which came out little later than Shogakukan version, drawn by Kurata, Minoji san. Now I am buying Kurata's version but I am owing some issues drawn by Neko-kurage as well. It was difficult to pick one. 😅
@@jianashantel one thing I don’t like is when people get so mad that reactors or fans in general have different theories to them, the fact that jinshi isn’t the emperor gets revealed when the emperor shows up in episode 4, there’s no need to get mad about it they’ll figure it out themselves soon.
Just admit they are stupid and don't know how to watch anime. The show had explicitly explain, and what kind of logic to think emperor will walking round so openly and no one know and bow to him?
@@ayoidek6571 Not really a "reveal" IMO since Jinshi not being the emperor is obvious from episode 1, and only gets more so after. I think while it's clear Jinshi is more than he lets on (and the shows hints heavily at this), the bro's lack of understanding of how the Rear Palace functions on a basic level is leading them astray. I don't mind some of even their craziest theories in other series, but when they blatantly just don't listen to the facts presented in the show despite multiple episodes reinforcing them, it can get a bit mind boggling. They do this in other shows as well, where they just ignore crucial information.
@Skywolfhd20 if they do complain about it like with slime it just shows that they need to be told if they have so.ething totally wrong or missed something in general. The fact they dispise Slime because they missed the context that was there to begin with is ridiculous
@izzyzy6486 I know that’s what I’m about to do if they can’t figure it out when the emperor is actually shown and also unsub because this happens a LOT
To be fair to them, Jinshi's true identity is an actual mystery that gets paid off later, plus unless they have been deep into other chinese court drama's, they won't be able to guess who he is based on the rules of the palace.
The SOS Bros. have some pretty good intuition as far as story and character development is concerned, but sometimes they do get a bit carried away with the speculation...
The virgins are all out here worried they'll keep deluding themselves with their Emperor Jinshi head canon. Meanwhile, I, the chaotic chad that I am, REALLY wanna see how long they can keep it going.😂 Cuz, c'mon, this is gold in the making!
@colt1903 they definitely aren't because they would not be calling ajinshi the emperor if they actually were lol. The fact in episode 3 they still think Jinshi is the emperor is insanely idiotic
The exessive anime watching does rot people's brains it seems -_- At least as far as fiction goes, the average seasonal anime writing is so shit that people look for tropes and twists in lieu of any logic and sense in it. And while this show has some illogical moments of several varieties (for example some things get explained in the novels but the adaptation omits key information for no reason) in general everything in the show makes sense with the understanding that: this is a fantasy not-China, hence the anachronisms and other ahistorical moments, that it was written by a japanese author who clearly knows some stuff but didn't go for the "full authenticity" worldbuilding, and that a lot of things that don't make sense initially get explained (or "explained away") later on.
I don’t think it has anything to do with the quality of seasonal anime writing. This is literally just how the bros approach a lot of characters and writing in anime, for better or worse. They will jump on tropes and writing meta for anything they watch.
Well, if you keep looking at it, you will definitely notice whether it is an emperor or not, so I think it's good. Besides, this anime is fun to think about and think about, so let's enjoy the discussion of the two of them.
Hearing Jinshi be called an emperor *shudders* look even outside of yk the bros being wrong about jinshi being the current emperor…[screams in light novel reader]
