In Norse mythology, there's a guardian bird that nulls people into a false sense of security with its own charm. It's called Besthteru Gerhu, which in Kanji directly translate to "Kanamori."

Kanamori's 'queen' status will only magnify with each passing episode.

The obvious comparison people always make is Eizouken with Shirobako. For me, Shirobako is probably better at teaching the actual production and animation process behind anime, but Eizouken excels at describing the emotional and mental aspects of making anime. While they do go into the technical aspects a bit, the focus is definitely on the three girls and how their perspectives and though processes work to create their anime.

Kanamori would be considered a desk in anime production or more so the producer. She manages the logistical aspect of the production while herding the staff to uphold to the schedule would be something the desk would do while acquiring funds from companies that would consider funding of said project, acquiring the time slot for broadcast from tv stations, dealing with advertisement, acquiring the rights for a source material to be adapted, and many other logistical requirements are helmed by producers. Watching Shirobako ion tandem with this show might be a great way to appreciate the amount of work and manpower poured into the production. After that taking a gander at some ghibli making dicumentarty would really allow you to use this new found knowledge to great use, especially the making of Princess Mononoke.

In terms of vocalized sound effects I know The Wind Rises, funnily enough another Ghibli work, definitely had them in it, and I really liked it there, just like I really like it in this show. Also, animation cels are seriously really cool. I have a collection of some anime cels(mainly from the series Golden Boy), and it is really freaking awesome(and sometimes terrifying) to see the layers of paint on the underside of the cels. It really puts into perspective why animators prefer simplified character designs over heavily detailed ones.

From this point on, expect the animators to flex that budget every time the background goes completely blank. Also, 8:06 - "Sentao de pana". Never forget.

I saw you guys posted the first episode and I had heard about the show so I decided I would watch an episode a week and each time watch the episode over again with you two. Looks like I broke my promise and accidentally watched the entire show in 2 days. Oh man I can't wait for you guys to do the rest too :o, this is gonna be amazing.

I'm so freaking glad that you guys are actually reacting to an anime that I feel is the best of early 2020 winter seasonal anime, As a fellow artist I super strongly connect with this series which I feel is just a great love letter to all creators of all kinds. While I love all the main gals equally and Kanamori is most definitely the ultimate best girl within anime as well as being such a boss, Asakusa is the one who I can pretty much relate to a bit more especially when it comes to her hyper high passion of animation and creating in general also the why of how she just gets lost within her own fictional worlds or works of her art and concepts when it comes to worldbuilding or how certain little details in said imaginary worlds /setting works overall, is the exact same way of how I tend to inversion stuff when it comes to my own art or characters concepts and fictional worldbuilding ideas when am either drawing or painting. This anime is a wild ride of the highs & lows of what it takes to create anything animated related along with how hard animation truly is.
