@@portanrayken3814 That is a much more sensible way to do things, although I bet it's a pain in the butt if an emergency comes up. Back when I had student loans it was all into a regular account. This was back in the early 90s though so things may have changed. Seemed silly to just hand full control of the whole lump of money to kids who very often never had any experience or education in budgeting and managing cashflow.

Interest represents compensation for the risk the lender is taking on if the borrower defaults. There would be no reason to lend someone (individual, nation or company) money without interest. You wouldn't be able to afford the capital to start a business unless you were already rich or had very generous rich friends. Lending your money to the US government has a very different risk profile from lending it to Argentina or your cousin Kevin who keeps blowing his salary on beer and lottery tickets, and the interest rates need to be different to reflect that. Debt is a very useful tool but, of course, can be misused. Educating people on how to responsibly manage debt is the way to go, some personality types would be better off avoiding it entirely for sure.

I mean yeah but it depends. A lot of games nowadays are made to be live services. You can't realistically expect your $70 dollars to cover the base game plus all the extra development later down the line. There are definetely some that shouldn't ever fall into that but it's not like all who do it are wrong.

I mean, don't get me wrong, some games could and do work like that but not ALL of them. Take any online game you wish to imagine. That shit works on servers, servers that HAVE to be maintained and paid. Do you expect your $X to cover for the development of the game + an unknown amount of time to maintain said servers? What about bug fixing and patches? Because I'm not working for free buddy. Does the $X also cover that extra time? And what about extra content? Think of MMO's with expansions. Your $X ain't paying the development of all that. Sadly, since money doesn't grow on trees it has to come from somewhere. Yes. I do agree there are some companies without morals that are greedy. Yes, I do agree there is a value on PR that comes from doing some of that said work without extra expenses, BG3 to mention a recent example (tho this extra work is well understood and considered in contracts) However thinking that ANY AND ALL of this extra work should be done completely free is greedy on your part. People actually have to make a living out of this.
