SM is the blueprint of Kpop. They started and invented a lot of things (ex: pocas, dance practice vids, the training system of kpop, first kpop group to become big, story line in MVs, etc.).
i remember when the boys teasers came out and groups started delaying their comebacks, it even made news how snsd comeback was causing delay in the industry, Girls' Generation were a phenomenon, still are
"Promoting an SM group better than SM itself" is a depressingly easy low bar to clear. SM just expects the money to roll in, and lucky for them, it does.

The visual position existed before SNSD, the video was saying that Yoona became the first *center* position, aka the person who's usually in the center of the group during significant parts of the song performances. Yoona considers Eugene from SES (debuted 1997) to be the original visual, but Yoona is the original center position
Correct. The video author got a bit 'carried away' on that one ( actually with the whole "invented" idea---"pioneered" is a the better term. Still, it's a good compilation and theme nonetheless.

@@SirAustin Recently a report has been made that last 2018 during her drama filming of "Time" one of the leading role (who left in the midst of airing😒) was being harsh to her like whenever they hold hands or do some romantic scene, he would wipe her hands roughly with wipes and will show that he was uninterested and nearly disguted with seohyun, so seohyun felt that and she cried. A clip of him rejecting seohyun is also trending and has been since 2018 but Seohyun defended him. Because of the things he did to the whole drama staffs and actors, Seohyun suffered depression for 2 years and we really didn't know why up until now. Now we realized the reason why snsd members are especially being so supportive and being so comforting to her back then🥺 Now that the issue has been brought up again, some people are blaming her.
This may sound 'bias' towards SNSD but I firmly believe that they started some trends and make it big. I hope the fans of new girl groups nowadays, will have respect to those who literally 'paved the way' of Kpop to make it big and known globally. As a sone of 9 years, I feel proud whenever other artists or trainees talking about how SNSD inspired them to become singers and great artists.
Side note: Jessica was the original “Ice Princess”, no other idol had the ice prince/ice princess nickname until her. Now most groups have an idol that fits “ice” persona and most of those idols are known for their visuals as well. Some examples are Irene from red velvet and Wonwoo from Seventeen. Also Jessica made airport fashion a trend in Korea. Basically she started it, and made it a thing for idols to be fashionable at airports. In fact, she is one of the original fashionista idols. Jessica and her sister definitely would have been the blackpink, in terms of luxury fashion ambassadors, if they debuted now

sooyoung said that snsd is her hometown and she proud of it, me too girl❤ from when i was in elementary school and now i'm in my college year i still love them, even more than before. my childhood days are filled with those beautiful NINE girls and i really really really proud of them🥰❤
When I first got into Girls' Generation during Gee era, I used to get confused by Taeyeon and Jessica the most. It got worse when they both had bangs with similar hairstyles, so we all struggled for a little at the start. Also, if you decide to do "Sailing," they have a special video and the lyrics are meaningful too. I would also check Sooyoung and Tiffany covering it. Also, "Sugar" cover from Sunny and YoonA is a sweet pair (aegyo queens).
Yes I remember back then when I was in elementary listening to SNSD not knowing they were so huge. I recall as a kid reading articles such as Asia’s No1 Girl Group and being called the Nations Girl Group… and it’s true.. back then it wasn’t really about the views or awards and stuff, it was about how much they made an impact in the industry . That’s how they gained those titles lol But this generation of Kpop lol fans can literally just spread false titles and it trend lol like how we see so many false titles of certain groups.. like who gave y’all confidence to title them that?
13:08 They said that about Super Junior (13 members) and EXO (12 members) and NCT (16 back then) too. SM invented large groups and subunits. Super Junior had tons of subunits (M for mandarin, T for trot, H for happy, KRY for their 3 main vocalists, etc...) but ultimately still one group. Then they tried it with EXO (exo-k and exo-m) but eventually stayed one group EXO after the controveries and the 3 members leaving. Now NCT is proof of SM's perseverance of their original concept being successful.
NCT as a brand is successful just like the previous EXO and SUJU but with NCT honestly its hrad to tell if their concept is successful in reality. If SUJU and EXO had problems with members and equal treatment(their living conditions were inhumane tho with NCT its not like that anymore thankfully) with NCT its worse in terms of screen time and receiving work even NCTzens cant name all members let alone the public. Soo Man said members will come and go so I wonder when the original NCT U members go and do their own thing what is going to happen? The fandom is split and they dont want to seperate NCT Dream for example...I think in the future NCT will be hub for all the trainees SM inested time in but they were not good enough or fit in their next big group for example this new boy group is supposed to be the next "EXO" so what is gonna happen to NCT which is supposed to debut more and more members?

Twice is now the national girl group. People say they are like SNSD 2.0 because they debuted with the same number of members and started cute then got more mature through time. Yuri even said that they reminded them of when they started because they started with 9 memebers.

Please react to Super Junior and SNSD Seoul MV. It's kinda rare nowadays to see this kind of collaboration. Super Junior is the first boygroup to have many members that's why when SNSD debuted with 9 members they're sometimes called the female counterpart of Super Junior. At that time boy group and girl groups have many interactions with each other that's why there exist boygroup and girlgroup collaboration like Big Bang and 2NE1 MV and 2PM and SNSD MV
*Remember, "visual" in Korean fan-speak means "most closely conforming to the **_very specific_** ideal of perfection Koreans have".* Internationals misinterpret it as the one _they_ find beautiful; not too fine a point, ALL idols are f'ing beautiful, it's not just in the job description, it's number one on the list! So, the Bermuda Triangle was the three most likely to be confused for each other by nonfans and baby SONEs by virtue of three-nines or better matching that ideal. Jessica's sister Krystal also hits those same ideals, which is why, amusingly, Yoona or Yuri almost look more like her than her actual sister. Until you see Jungsis together, at least (without SM stylist tweaks to Sica), then the family resemblance is clear. Hell, I'll admit it took _years_ for me to reliably identify Yuri; I had to run through a whole process of elimination to get to her, and since her camera time in MV's is pretty much blink-and-you-miss-it, there was never enough time for the process to finish. Another axis of visual similarity was Jessica-Taeyeon-Sunny (especially when they were younger), although that was owed more to styling; they diverged into more recognizable individuality quicker. As a baby SONE, I keyed onto Sunny's lips as an identifying feature pretty quickly. A third axis if similarity (for me at least) was Seohyun (who was the first to evolve away from the Triangle) and Tiffany. So really, at some point, it was possible to mistake almost any member for any other, from the right camera angle and right styling...

"Things SNSD Invented" is ...an exaggeration ( and maybe a translation or articulation mistake), but the larger point is that SNSD were indeed different, and in many ways, from previous girl groups, and had a real impact beyond merely having some hit songs (while being pretty). It is remarkable to see the skepticism, disdain and even hostility towards them that arose even before they debuted, and which as we know resulted in the Black Ocean event, which in case you don;t know, wasn't just jealous fans boycotting their performance, but included outrageous public claims, directly to TV reporters ( and in forums of course) of violence and even rape, made by 'anti-fans' against SNSD fans at that concert. The press fortunately, diligently investigated the claims and found them to be utter bullshit. (For example, one kid posted a picture of his broken arm in a cast, at a hospital, and claimed it was from being 'attacked' by Soshi fans at the Dream Concert. Investigation proved the kid had actually hurt himself two weeks before the concert, in a mundane accident --- falling-off his bike, or something like that!). Before SNSD, the 'average' Girl Group' WASN'T actually FIVE members, but most-often three or four, which also helps to explain how the 'center' position came about, and I guess partly why Luxerit attributes the role specifically to Yoona ( as well as the 'V-formation', which I'm pretty sure was ACTUALLY "invented" by geese---you know, the birds? Both a 'V-formation' and a 'center' is simply an obvious arrangement for a three person group, but NOT for four, so with the 'true' average group size being something like 3.65 members the center role was really just circumstantial at the time. Also it was 'natural' for the best singer and or the prettiest member in the more common three member group to share the center position according to the vocal and choreographic parts of the performance. In SNSD's case, with 9 members, a 'V formation is just more obvious and particularly noticeable also when 'domino' choreography is included, which is also more visually effective, than it is with just three performers. As far as "the face of the group' and 'visual' roles are concerned, well, K-pop stars HAVE to be visually attractive---that's just a showbiz rule in general---and Yoona was just blessed with Korean 'ideal' features which helped her be very recognizable as an actress and CF model before SNSD's debut, so again, an obvious choice by SM's marketing department, rather than Yoona's "invention" , to have her be the 'visual' and the 'center' so often. Even so, the rest of group are all extremely attractive, and in distinct ways, and with such a depth of talent ( and hard work) in both dancing and singing as well, plus their personal publicly expressed and demonstrated appreciation of each others talents, it becomes really hard to pick a singular representative of the group--as a singer, dancer or visual---or for that matter, who is the funniest, or the sexiest, or the smartest, or the nicest. Which brings me in closing ( because this is quite long enough already) that one 'invention' Luxerit missed, is arguably 'The dance line" and the 'vocal line'. In the 3- to 5-member groups, there was definitely a main singer, and, maybe, a main dancer. With SNSD, while we all know who the main singer is and who the main dancer is, the rest are so damned good at one or the other, that they have 'a line' for both performance aspects, not just a single member given all the high notes, or all the coolest and hardest dance moves. It wasn't just the size of the group that made SNSD unusual and impactful, it was the breadth and depth of their talents, their commitment to each other, and, I think, the balance they all found between being very professional, but also delightfully crazy and 'unconventional' too, which wasn't just entertaining, but an...instinct, I guess, that helped them survive the pressures of fame and the industry in general.
Kpop wouldn’t be kpop without Snsd, literally, there will be many ggs who will be more popular overseas and make more news, But we all know for a fact that there will never be any girl group to go over Snsd in Korea and no other fandom could be stronger, closer than Sones,
